good for ceilings too

By Scott B.

from Haddam, CT

Verified Reviewer

when our builder suggested we might want to do a wood ceiling in our new sunroom, we said, "why not?" we bought a top of the line red oak product and it went up without a hitch. since the wood was finished, once it was up, that was it. it adds a touch of class to the room and is winning compliments from our friends.

Service and delivery comments:

we used the website and visited the store and then called in the order once we knew how much we needed. the service was very efficient and when we showed up to pick up our order, out it came on a forklift. the wood cost about $700 for a peaked ceiling in a 12x15 room with four skylights. well worth it.

  • easy install, no junk in box, little waste

Cons

I bought this product after using Bruce products, and was very impressed. There wasn't any pieces smaller than 14 inches and all pieces were in great shape. No tongue or groove damage as with the Bruce.

      Service and delivery comments:

Salesmen at the Woburn store were very helpful in selecting the product and upon pick up.

      This floor is beautiful!

I have to admit after reading a lot of the negative reviews about Lumber Liquidators I was extremely hesitant to purchase their products. I agonized over the decision. I finally decided to take a chance and bought the Bellawood select red oak and had an installer recommended by LL to the installation. I was amazed by both the timely delivery of the product and the installer who delivered it to my mountain cabin 50 miles away. The installation took 3 days and I have to say the floor is so beautiful it takes my breath away. The red oak was perfect for my cabin and replaced my previous beech hardwood floors that were destroyed by a water leak (ice maker fill switch did not turn off and continued to pour water into the freezer for over two weeks). The only problem I encountered was when the installer put the refrigerator back in place the floor got scratched and those boards had to be removed and replaced. My entire experience from start to finish is a positive one and I am so glad I decided to go with Lumber Liquidators.

      BEAUTIFUL RED OAK FLOORING

      By C.A.T.

      from Amherst, NY

3 Bedrooms. Matches up with red oak previously used in LR, DR and Hall. Sturdy, beautiful sheen, makes the room look bigger and brighter. So much cleaner and easy to care for than carpet. Love it.

3 1/4" Redwood Select Hardwood. Good product.

      By Dennis

      from Pisgah Forest, NC

We put this hardwood in our living room and kitchen/dining area. We installed it ourselves and got along just fine. There were a few narrow boards and damaged or flawed boards but overall there was very little waste and the color and wood grain variation is fantastic. We couldn't ask for a better product or better service. Both Chris and John were great and I hope the company rewards them for their high level of professionalism and cheerful assistance to customers. Thanks to all!

Our new Red Oak Select 3/4 x 3 1/4 hardwoods flow from the living to the dining room and into the kitchen. The natural finish looks so inviting with it's warm colors and textures. We really like the satin finish rather than the gloss. Also the reduced micro groove size is much more to our liking.

what is the correct NON-SKID rug pad to use with this product? when I search on rug pads on your site, only a latex pad comes up. when i read the maintenance tips section, it says to use a plant-based or pvc-based backing and not petroleum based backing. isn't latex rubber? i don't want a pvc product - what else can i use on the bellawood prefinished hardwood that is non-skid and at least somewhat environmentally friendly. thanks!

Yes "latex" is rubber but is of a natural plant base (which is recommended) compared to petroleum based (not recommended).
Latex being plant-based is environmentally friendly.

You could reseal prefinished flooring after it is installed, but this would void the finish warranty on the flooring and create extra expense for you after already buying a new floor with a 100yr finish warranty. It is best to only add a new finish when the old finish starts to wear more than you like or if you have a lot of scratches you want covered up. We recommend that you use a professional sand and finish expert if you did decide to add a new finish to the flooring. Thank you for your inquiry.

                A:

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.

We are preparing to install Bellawood 3/4" x 3 1/4" select red oak in our 500 ft2 great room. The room connects to a tiled area. The tile height is 1". We've bought Dream Home Insulayment to go under the wood flooring. The Insulayment advertises a thickness of .11". Can/should I put down 2 layers of underlayment? That would make the finished height very close to the tile height.

                A:

I could not recommend this application of a double layer of Insulayment as it would be too soft and could cause the floor to squeak, you could put down a few layers of heavy 30 lb roofing felt to bring up the height difference.

1). This product has no stain (color) applied, Our Bellawood floors are factory pre-finished with an aluminum oxide water-base urethane using a multi-step application process. (8) coats are applied to most domestic and exotic wood species and each coat is hard-cured using Ultraviolet (UV) light. Bellawood pre-finished flooring offers superior wear resistance and is backed by a limited 100-year warranty! (The exact formula is propietary information) The formula for the Bellawood finish is a custom mix that has a 50/50 gloss. The sheen you get is shinier than satin, but not as shiny as semi -gloss.
The average dry film thickness for Bellawood is about 3.65 mils – one of the highest in the industry.
2). It is not possible with this product alone, you could achieve this look by using different species of our Bellawood?
3). Only if you wanted to change the original (natural) color.
