The installer that we had said that this was the first time that he has worked with a 3/8 solid oak product.
There are a few imperfections with the seams. Fortunately not too noticable. This was installed in our kitchen over the existing vinyl flooring. We have had many comments on this floor.

After doing some fairly exhaustive research, we decided on a real wood floor. It didn't take long to realize that it would require a professional installation. That said, if you get someone who is experienced and thorough, the results are outstanding. Even with the Select Red Oak, there are slight imperfections and some minor warping which made our installer (a perfectionist!) go slower than he had expected. And don't expect the snap together consistency of manufactured floors, this is the real deal. There will be some minor gaps here and there, but nothing objectionable if your installer does a good job. This was the look we wanted and we couldn't be more pleased.

I had this product installed by contractor and found that there were gaps due to the product being uneven width. It was not milled well and this was not due to warping as end to end pieces would be different width by about 1-2/16" which is noticeable. Also the color variation was more than I expected for a select top grade oak.

Bellawood is the way to go, you can't beat the warranty. Strongly recommend that you hire a professional. Also strongly recommend using a sealer over concrete, moisture will damage the hardwoord. Love the way the floors turned out.

Fantastic looking but a few places warped and is not a smooth finish. I glued this to a concrete subfloor. I let flooring sit in the house for 2 weeks before beginning to acclimate to the humidity in the house in hopes to avoid warping. I also suggest renting a heavy roller and use it as you install the flooring. Also, be SURE to use coasters on heavy furniture. The floor will scratch.

To minimize waste and scrap, I opened and used one box at a time. I separated lengths into stacks, and laid out each row before glueing. This gave a nice pattern distribution, and color distribution

I'm looking at this for installation in our great room. The sub-floor is wood and the room is 16' x 34'. The floor of the room suggests the boards run parallel to the 34' wall. I've been told that thresholds are required for runs over 30'. I've also been told that gun should be used for long runs as it accommodates expansion. I'm old-school and prefer nailing with no thresholds. What's the preferred installation method for this configuration?1 answer

Yes we have Bellawood Engineered flooring 1/2" x 5" Select Red Oak -SKU #10022031, and 1/2" x 3" -SKU #10021071. The 3/8" could work as aglue down application but an engineered is considerably more dimensionally stable than a solid wood product.Q:

when I read the warranty...it said something about "gloss reduction" not being part of "surface wear." I thought the finish was scratch and fade resistant and would stay extremely glossy and shiny for 50 years, unlike the non pre-finished woods which seem to need to have polyurethane reapplied every 3 years or so. Does polyurethane need to be reapplied to these prefinished floors as well? If so, how often?1 answer

The 50 year wear warranty means the finish will not wear down to the wood under normal residential traffic. The finish is not scratch proof and the gloss can be diminished over the years from scratches and scuffing.
