Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

The floors are beautiful but what makes them hard and durable also makes them brittle. The recommended Norge nail gun only uses the 18ga cleat nails The nails split the tongue and damage the floor no matter what shoe height or air pressure setting. I'm told the nail gun was available to use 18ga brads before but was discontinued. I believe with a brad nailer the result would be better.

          • High Scrap
          • Splinters When Nailed
          • Splintery

          Best Uses

I chose this flooring over the snap together stuff, thinking I would save some money. Due to the nature of the product, it is very splintery. About every 20th nail driven would cause the top of the piece to splinter on the top of the board. I was able to reuse most of these pieces in other areas after cutting them down, but it was a hassle. I am very happy with the end result, however, and would recommend this flooring.

            • Great Room M-bedroom

My wife and I installed the click flooring ourselves in the great room, hallway, and master bedroom. (~800 sq ft) Installation went well, but be careful of the splinters. The finished product looks great and is more durable than I expected, reading other reviews. Make sure you use felt pads on each piece of furniture, because it will scratch easily. The sratches do rub out though.

I put this in my living room, kitchen and bedroom and it just looks beautiful. Got quite a few slivers in my hands from handling it. Wear gloves.
Can be difficult to staple down because of the hardness of the wood.

                A:

Wax filler sticks, stain markers and color-putty are now available at your local Lumber Liquidators and at most home centers that are used for minor hardwood repairs. This process is used to fill-in face-nails, nicks and gouges. Select the appropriate stick color to match the damaged area. Often several colors are used to blend colors for exotic species, bring a scrap piece of the flooring to match it up. Thank you for your inquiry.

                A:

When using area rugs, use a rug pad with a felt, plant or PVC based backing. DO NOT use area rugs with a petroleum based rubber backing (typically black) as this can cause permanent chemical staining/etching of the floor finish.
