I was worried when my wife selected the black studio oak from [...], that the front room would be too dark. I was wrong. It is so much brighter than the 40 year old white pine "builder's" floor. I really like how the floor turned out. I lay hardwood floors the old-fashioned way, by drilling the nail holes and nailing the flooring down with a hammer, no glue or staple guns for me.

No this flooring would have to be nailed or installed over Elastilon which would give you the floating floor application option but there are no locking mechanism on the tongue and grooves of this flooringQ:

I am interested in purchasing wood flooring for my home. I will be using it in my kitchen as well. I have small dogs which sometimes have accidents on the floor. What is the best type of wood flooring that can stand up to a high traffic kitchen as well as my dogs? I want something that is black or very dark in color.1 answer

You can also use Hard species of solid and engineered hardwood flooring like Brazilian Teak, Brazilian Walnut, Natural Strand Bamboo, Acacia, Brazilian Cherry, and Hickory. Many people even have Red Oak and White Oak flooring in there homes with dogs. The key to protecting your flooring from dog scratches is to trim their nails or cover them with vinyl claw covers. www.softclaws.comQ:
We have a floor that looks like this one and we bought it at lumber liquidators several years ago, but I think it was called hickory, but it is black in color. I am having a hard time keeping it clean. It show water spots easily and not sure how to clean it properly. Please give me some suggestions. Thanks. Karla.1 answer

Unfortunately a black colored floor can as difficult to keep up than a pure white one.
