About Handscraped Flooring:
Handscraped or distressed hardwood floors have a natural worn appearance. They look like floors from the days when floors were finished by hand.

About Engineered Flooring:
Hardwood veneer layers are stacked on one another, with the grain of the adjacent layers oriented perpendicular to each other.
Because wood expands and contracts in the direction of the grain, one layer stabilizes the next, resulting in a product that is less susceptible to the effects of moisture & temperature change.

We put this floor in our great room, so the dining room, kitchen, living room, entry way & closets and really love the finished product. We had a professional install it and he glued & nailed all 700+ sq ft in 2 days. The floor is very affordable & beautiful, but like any dark color, shows everything. I bought a Shark steamer to clean it so there aren't any chemicals. Seems to work well. I would get this same floor if I had it to do over!

Just what I was looking for...

    By CJ

I was designing our guest room and wanted flooring on a focal wall to bring it all together. I wanted wood with character, slightly rustic with color variances and some texture. At a decent price. This was perfect. I can't say enough how nice this flooring looks in person. The slight color/shade variances allows you to switch up your furniture, not having to be married to one shade/finish on dressers, tables, etc. Also, our goal was to have a contemporary room with some rustic accents thrown in, and this flooring fits both those styles. I think it would compliment any design style - except perhaps, modern.
The sales people at our local Lumber Liquidators were very helpful - didn't miss a beat or make a face when I said it was going on a wall. Since the flooring was only going 3/4 way up the wall, we wanted a nice, clean top. A reducer, since the flooring is only 3/8" thick, was recommended and they were spot on about that, too. My husband installed it over a weekend and did a great job. He did find Liquid Nails paneling adhesive to work best.
Can't tell you how it holds up to foot traffic, though I woildn't mind it on our floors, but it definitely makes a big impact on a focal wall.

I would buy this product again and again

We started with the hallway, decided to include our living room and now we want to complete the bedrooms. At first I thought the color would not match the rest of our trim; however, it was perfect. The installation was easy, my son did a great job! We are enjoying no more carpet and awful smells, didn't realize what a difference it would make. Love it!

Beautiful looking floor. Exactly what I was looking for in our library. I glued the edges for a floating installation. Have installed many a floor over the years & this is one of the best finished products. Made sure I used a tap block to keep the seams tight. Will use this floor in other rooms of the house.

      Looks great!

      By Larn

We have installed this throughout most of our house and it looks great! Each board has it's own unique look, grain and color. The installation is a little more difficult than the last time we tackled installing wood (with 3/4 inch boards) because these boards are thinner and don't fit together as easily. The floor seems very durable so far and we are happy with the product.

Great floors but be careful of scratches

      Pros

      • Blemishes Blend Nicely
      • Rich dark color

      Cons

      • Dark Color Shows Dirt
      • scratches EASILY

      Best Uses

Loves: I love the wide plank and dark color of these floors. The hand scrapped finish hides blemishes and scratches pretty well. They look like they were always there. Color goes great with light, cool toned walls.

Bummers: They do scratch a little easy and dirt/dush shows easily as well. Just have to keep on top of the sweeping. Also, if each plank is not evenly set next to the others, the corners can snag on socks and such. Splinters could be a problem! But those are very specific issues if I'm trying to be picky. Otherwise, I love these floors!

We installed this in a combined family room/ kitchen/ dining room over a concrete slab in a fifteen year old home. The product was easy to install, the finish is attractive and has enough variety so it looks natural. The client is thrilled, it is a complete transformation from the beige carpet and tile that had been there previously.

This is a great product for the price, but you also get what you pay for. The product itself is made in China, so this is no "American Hardwood". I had absolutely no problems with the product itself, or the installation. It went downn easy, T&G's fit well, all boards were square, but came out with a few scratches during the process. This may have been from my boots, the nailgun, etc, but I do know that it has already scratched. Being only 3/8" thick, the tongue is pretty thin, and you need to be right on with nail gun pressure so to not blow through the tongue or break it off. All in all I would consider putting this product down again, and if you are looking for a decent, conservatively priced, engineered product... I would give it a try.

                    A:

STEAM CLEANERS OR WET-JET swiffer; Lumber Liquidators does not recommend "Water brooms" "Wet-Jet Swiffers or steamer type cleaners on laminates, corks or hardwood floors. Although steamers may work well cleaning OTHER types of hard surface flooring, the 130° to 240° heated steam vapor can ruin wood or urethane finish resulting in warped or cupped flooring. Water and wood do not mix well, especially steam. Use these products at your own risk.

I just order the sundance birsh flooring and I have 3 medium dogs the salesman assured me that because it was handscraped that this flooring would do well. I have done some reading and birsch is not recommended when you have pets. Did I make the right choice?

                  1 answer

                  • CUSTOMER CARE

                    A:

Birch is not the hardest of hardwood however it could hold up okay due to it's quality urethane finish and handscraped profile. I have 3 dogs, two of them large, and a Bellawood Hickory floor and it has held up great to 5 years of hard playing. Nothing is scratch proof and there are nail marks (slight dents) but the finish does not scratch off but rather keeps wood sealed. Harder floors like hickory (41% harder than Red Oak) or exotic floors will dent less easily and light colors hide scratches easier than dark because of contrast. I don't care about keeping the flooring flawless because I understand the limitations of wood flooring. We keep the dog nails trimmed which is very helpful, if I wanted to keep the flooring flawless I would have vinyl dog booties and only socks and sneakers on the flooring. However, real life doesn't isn't always that careful so I simply relax, keep it swept, and clean with Bellawood Cleaner once a month and I could not be happier with my floor. Light colors will hide potential scratches. Remember nothing is scratch proof but some do better than others.

I am putting this in new construction where I'll have a 3/4-inch OSB sub-floor. I plan on nailing it down. Do I need an underlayment or roofing paper to separate it from the sub-floor?

                    A:

15lb felt paper or White Silicone Paper can be used as a vapor barrier as well as easing installation (working with the boards). The manufacturer recommends its use.

                    A:

Unfortunately this stain is not available in a can for retail sale. I would recommend bringing a scrap piece of the flooring (and a piece of the wood transition you will be staining) to a paint store and they should be able to match the stain for you. Thank you for your inquiry.

                    A:

This material is an engineered product and you can not test those for hardness based on the core of the plank not being the same species as the top veneer - most cores of engineered woods are pine while the top veneer layer is the species of wood you are selecting - the top veneer layer of this material is birch while the core is pine and you can not have a Janka rating for two types of wood in one plank

                    A:

This flooring can be floated using the tongue and groove glue floating method. It is not a locking joint floor like our Quick Clic flooring.

                    A:

Solid flooring products (engineered, solid, laminates etc.) are not tested for sound ratings but the underlayments that can go under them are.
For complete Underlayment application information; Please go to our Website @ LumberLiquidators.com and at the bottom of the page click on Flooring 101, enter –
LL Underlayment Guide- , enter, then click on the PDF to open. Thank you for your inquiry.
