Handscraped appearance and texture... Just like Hardwood flooring!

Kensington Manor by Dream Home - 12mm Tanzanian Wenge Laminate Flooring - 30 Year Warranty

Kensington Manor is a premium 12mm + 3mm pre-glued underlayment laminate product line. What is unique is that most of the line has a handscraped finish appearance. This is not simply in the look, but also in the actual texture!
The combination of these 2 characteristics gives them a beautiful rustic feel!
Also, the V-groove and pre-glued 3mm underlayment will make your installation process quick and easy.

Quick Installation Tips:
- Store flooring flat for 48 hours in its original packaging at room temperature.
- Must be installed over a clean, stable, flat, smooth, and dry surface.
- Moisture barrier is required for installations over concrete.

- Make sure the panels are mixed sufficiently when you install them so that you do not end up with too many identical, light or dark panels next to each other.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE ADDITIONAL PADDING:
Laminates having pre-attached padding can be installed over an underlayment. When doing so, Lumber Liquidators recommends the use of our Bellawood Premium underlayment or ECO Silent Sound underlayment. These quality underlayments will best support the joints while ensuring superior thermal sound reduction qualities and are highly recommended for use with condominium associations, project planners and building specifiers.

Kensington Manor Flooring Advantages:
- No glue and no nails needed
- Easy Click Installation
- Moisture resistant board
- Thickness: 12mm + 3mm (1/8") pre-glued underlayment
- AC Rating: 3
- 30 Year Warranty

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

My wife and I moved into our house about 8 months ago and we had to do so much work to get it to how we liked but the main thing that bothered us most was the carpet throughout the living room. We cannot stand carpet just because it holds so many germs and that does not work well with allergies. My wife seen a commerical that Lumber Liquidators was having a sale so we went up there to see about hardwood floors.. since we had spent so much money on our house already, real hardwood floors were out of the question with our budget, so we decided to purchase the DreamHome - Kensington Manor 12mm Tanzanian Wenge Laminate Hardwood Floor and install it ourselves. We had never installed flooring before but both of us are pretty handy and quick learners so we thought it would be a bit of a challenge, but we could eventually get it completed. We got all of our carpet up and all the padding and staples out of the subfloor in a little less then a day, and the following day we started to lay the laminate. Of course the first board we laid down had to be one of the difficult ones due to a vent being on the floor, but once we got it started, it went fairly quickly until we got to a bunch of angles and corners.. we have a fairly open concept but we have a little area that is off of our kitchen and a small platform leading to stairs that is all open so that is where we started to run into problems. Luckily, a contractor was getting ready to install 12x24 tile in our kitchen and he had experience installing laminate flooring so he helped us complete the entire area. What we did not like most about installing the floor is when we took the block and hit it with the rubber mallet to interlock the boards, some of the corners kept on chipping. That is the only really negative thing I can say about the floor. The most difficult area to install was around our corner fireplace just because there were so many angles to it so we had our contractor complete that area cause he had to do a lot of weird cutting of the boards. All and all, once everything was complete, it turned out really nice. There were a couple of small gaps in some of the boards, but I filled them with wood putty and got a wood finish stain marker and went over all the chips and gaps and you can't even notice where there are now. One neat thing about this floor is depending on the lighting, it can either look REALLY dark (almost black) but as soon as you turn on a light (we have L.E.D. dimmable track lighting and two table lamps) the floor instantly changes to a nice, warm, brown color; I have never seen a floor do that before. For anyone who is considering putting this floor in your home, be prepared to clean it EVERY SINGLE DAY to maintain it looking nice. Luckily, my wife and I both have OCD and are complete neat freaks so we don't mind the upkeep but if you do not like to clean and vacuum all the time, this is not the floor for you. We have a pug and he sheds like crazy so that really motivates us to get all his hair up. We also purchased the cleaning kit which has the dry/wet mop changeable heads and that has been great with keeping the floor nice and clean. We have only had the floor down for almost 2 months, so only time will tell how it holds up.

We installed this flooring 5 months ago on our 1st floor (living room, bedroom area). It was fairly easy to install. After the install, the floors looked great and we liked them. Unfortunately that did not last long. This flooring is very difficult to keep clean. You see every bit of dust and every foot print. I find myself cleaning the floor multiple times a day. I also was told it was pretty durable. We have a baby and a little dog so I wanted something I wouldn't have to worry too much about. Well it chips easily and doesn't hold up with liquids too well. My daughter dropped her cup, I didn't notice right away and when I did, it was too late.. the flooring started to bubble. So we are 5 months in and I hate our flooring and plan to replace it as soon as I am able. I do not recommend this product. I was such a waste of time, effort, and money!

We were told that this flooring was very durable and a great floor to have with kids. We are so disappointed that this floor scratches even from moving a chair out from under the kitchen table. It chips if you drop Hot Wheels car from the height of a two-year old. Our dog scratches it quite a bit but those scratches seem to be more like scuffs because they rub out with our Bona mop. This floor is very hard to keep clean and dust free and requires daily cleaning.

          • Basement With No Light

Yes, like every other comment, this floor is gorgeous, but that is ONLY for the first 10 minutes after cleaning, then it's back to looking like it hasn't been cleaned in WEEKS. I was warned about dark floors showing everything and being hard to keep clean, I ignored advice because I don't mind sweeping a couple times a day. What I wasn't prepared for was the foot smudges! Imagine laying your bathroom mirror on the floor and letting people walk on it, are you imagining every tiny smudge footprint, and handprint? Now times that by 20 because these floors are also dark, so you have the smudges AND dust particles. You can literally notice a grain of salt on these floors. These floors need to be swept AND mopped every hour (or less) to maintain a clean look, unless its dark outside because darkness is your friend with these floors. Natural light just shines rays of regret and frustration all over my bottom level. I promise you, the beauty of these floors is not worth the hassle.
          -have tried warm water/vinegar solution
          -tried Bona floor cleaning system
-tried wearing socks to prevent foot prints but heat from feet cause smudging through the socks.

I purchased this wood to be used in the floor for a new nursery I was building in my basement. I applied my vapor barrier underneath, and the pad included on the wood pieces insulated the floor well. To cut the pieces to length, I used a high speed oscillating saw, which took longer than a regular saw, but left a very clean cut with no blemishes. Start with a new blade though. This floor will be very easy to clean if/when spills happen, and the durability is very good. My 3 year old dropped my hammer on it and no marks were left. I tested on a scrap cut piece and hit it hard with my hammer a few times, and nothing, no marks. Very pleased with my purchase.

We love the look of these floors! They really are beautiful but are extremely high maintenance. Every bit of dust stands out like a sore thumb, which I was expecting. These floors are not for people that do not want to mop everyday. We have also found that they chip rather easily, but another reviewer mentioned using a black sharpie to cover the chips and we too have found that the marker really covers the blemish.
We paid to have the floors professionally installed, so I cannot speak about the ease of installation.
This laminate was installed on our main level foyer, hallway, kitchen, laundry room and half bath.
Overall, I love these floors and would recommend them to others as long as they know the maintenance required.

I am looking to put new flooring over the tile floor in my bathroom. It is a small full bathroom with a bath tub/shower combo and was curious if it will work over the tile? I noticed some are not recommended for full bathrooms and don't want to pay for something that will swell up or ruin due to moisture from the shower.

since it is ok for a kitchen but not recommended for full bath or laundery room installation, is there a comparable Tranquility product that would match? I am trying to use the same type/color throughout the house.

                            A:

Our wood floors are manufactured for maximum durability, easy maintenance and finished with a high quality aluminum oxide water base urethane UV cured finish. This step protects the wood and helps keep the flooring looking beautiful longer. While highly durable, the finish is NOT considered indestructible. However, by observing a few precautions like setting up a regular cleaning routine and simple maintenance program to protect the finish, you can expect years of performance and beauty from your wood floor. All wood floors can show signs of wear over time. There are many factors that can affect the amount of wear. These include the size and lifestyle of your family and product location.
                            The following cleaning principles are recommended for all of our products -Hardwood, Laminates, Corks, Bamboo and other Exotics. Outlined are examples of the reasonable and necessary maintenance to be performed; this is only intended to be a basic list;
                            • Immediately after installation, be certain that the flooring is completely cleaned and dry as described below. If you must protect the flooring from traffic, use only “craft” paper, brown, red or white, this will allow the flooring to “breathe”. Do not fully cover the flooring. NEVER lay plastic of any kind or any other non-porous material over the flooring as this can trap moisture, harm the flooring or fade the finish.
                            • Sweep or vacuum regularly, since built-up dirt, grit and sand can damage the surface of the wood. If using a vacuum, use a soft brush attachment -NOT A BEATER BAR ATTACHMENT. Be certain the wheels of the vacuum are clean and do not damage the finish. When using a broom be certain that bristles are soft. You can also use a dry mop.
                            • Because of the myriad of cleaning products available and methods of each application, Lumber Liquidators cannot endorse or oversee the use of any Brand Name of floor cleaner. We do recommend cleaning products safe for urethane finishes such as our Bellawood floor cleaner.
                            • The use of a changeable terry cloth type system to clean the floor is highly recommended; apply cleaning solution to the terry cloth not the floor.
                            • NEVER use oil soaps, liquid, or paste wax products or other household cleaners that contain lemon oil, Tung oil, silicone, or ammonia on pre-finished flooring. The use of these products will harm the long-term performance and appearance of your floor and may affect future re-coating. (Damages caused by non-recommended cleaning products are not covered by warranties). NOTE: This also includes the use of vinegar and water solutions as water can damage wood. Vinegar is an acidic element that can have an oxidizing, caustic effect on the finish.
                            • In an effort to clean hardwood floors, many have experimented with a variety of cleaners on the market and end up with a new problem. “How to remove the build-up of cleaning products revealing the original surface"? If this is the case with you, we recommend consulting with a professional cleaner local to your area because they can best see the details involved and make the most accurate recommendations. If you choose to remove the layers of build-up yourself, use cotton rags instead of a mop to control the amount of liquid used.
                            • NEVER wet-mop, damp-mop, swab or flood your floor with water or any other product. Moisture can seep into the seams causing edge-cupping damage. Urethane floors do not require wet mopping. Natural floors are water resistant, not water proof. Remove all spills promptly using a soft, slightly damp cloth
                            • STEAM CLEANERS OR WET-JET swiffer; Lumber Liquidators does not recommend "Water brooms" "Wet-Jet Swiffers or steamer type cleaners on laminates, corks or hardwood floors. Although steamers may work well cleaning OTHER types of hard surface flooring, the 130° to 240° heated steam vapor can ruin wood or urethane finish resulting in warped or cupped flooring. Water and wood do not mix well, especially steam. Use these products at your own risk.
                            • Do place protective mats at entry doors to keep dirt, grit, sand and moisture from being track in from the outside.
                            • Do use area rugs in heavily traveled areas and pivot points (e.g., stair landings, room entries, etc.), especially if you have a large family or indoor pets.
                            • When using area rugs, use a rug pad with a felt, plant or PVC based backing. DO NOT use area rugs with a petroleum based rubber backing (typically black) as this can cause permanent chemical staining/etching of the floor finish.
                            • Take reasonable precautions; use a dolly and protective sheets of plywood when moving heavy objects such as furniture and appliances.
                            • Place protective pads beneath furniture legs and feet to reduce scratches and dents. Check and replace wore pads regularly.
                            • Keep pet’s nails trimmed, and paws clean and free of dirt, gravel, grease, oil, and stains.
                            • Scratches, dents and cupping are site related, not considered a manufactured defect.

                            A:

Laminates having pre-attached padding can be installed over an underlayment. When doing so, Lumber Liquidators recommends the use of our Bellawood Premium underlayment or ECO Silent Sound underlayment. These quality underlayments will best support the joints (locking system)

Mix it up & shuffle the deck by working from three to four boxes at a time utilizing all lengths maintaining a minimum 6 inch joint stagger to create a random look (there is no set pattern to follow).

                            Floating Stair Step Installations:

                            1. Starting from the bottom of the staircase working up, cut the stair riser to match the height and width of the step. The risers can be made from the flooring or other finished material.
                            2. The flush Stair Nosing is then installed to overlap and cover the riser.
                            (Nail and glue for safety,)
                            3. Cut the flooring to length and assemble it with the Stair Nosing. The step
assembly can be done first and installed as one piece if preferred.
                            4. An additional "filler" piece of flooring must be added to the back of the flooring.

The Steps and Risers should be attached by direct gluing to the stair using 100& urethane
construction adhesive or wood mastic. (For safety, omit all padding)
TIP; fit and adjust each step before gluing.
Yes, laminate flooring can be used to cover a set of stairs but due to the overlap design of the stair nosings it would not be my first choice for a full flight of stairs.
We sell replacement stairs and risers. Thank you for your inquiry.
