Tapping block handle broke

By MjM

from Virginia Beach

I really haven't used it much at all, and nothing heavy duty. One screw on the handle came loose (but stayed in) and not long afterwards, the entire plastic handle just broke off.

Tap and Break

Pros

  • Not overly expensive

Cons

  • Not durable

Best Uses

  • Hit Softly Only

Both myself and my boyfriend used this tapping block. It worked ok for me, but it broke 2x when he used it. Perhaps he was hitting it harder than I was, but I would have expected it to me more durable than it was. It lasted through maybe 40% of the floor install when one side chipped. We kept on using it as it was not completely broken, but then about halfway through the next room it broke again. It was not an expensive tool, but definitely not very durable either.

Tapping Block Explosions

By Randy

This product was used with your beautiful cork flooring. However, there were no explanations or suggestions from any literature or sales people, not to use a steel hammer on the tapping block. One miss hit on the block blew up one side of the block within 15 minutes of using it.

Instructions should have said
"Use a RUBBER MALLET" with this tapping block.

Other than that problem, the floor looks great!

Needs to be redesigned.

By Texas Big Dog

The screws are too short and skinny and 1 came out. I ended up busting the plastic stem the screw went into. It was Thanksgiving day so I could not return it and needed to use it. I ended up drilling through the handle and adding a nut and bolt. The MFG needs to make this out of wood not plastic.
