Comments about Casa de Colour 3/4" x 3-5/8" Tobacco Road Acacia:

Bought a box to see if we liked it.

Coloration of the short leaf Acacia was awesome as advertised. More lighter and darker color variations than in other short leaf acacia brands. With the smaller width planks there is lot more movement and variation than other brands we've brought home.

Other reviews noting the damage to the T&Gs, and varied board width's were accurate. 10% of the boards had unacceptable damage to the T&Gs, and a different 10% had large variations in the width of the boards which left 1/16-1/8 gaps along the seams (some had a taper and some alomst seemed notched).

Manaer at store was great and said he would swap out those boards if we decided to go with this wood.

We ended up going with the wider hand-scrapped acacia since it didn't have as many light areasm and would install faster and we wouldn't be dealing with damaged and not to spec boards.

Comments about Casa de Colour 3/4" x 3-5/8" Tobacco Road Acacia:

Recommend using cleat nails instead of staples. They work better. The wood has very little waste due to imperfections. I like the coloring and different shades and once you put it all together it looks nice.

Comments about Casa de Colour 3/4" x 3-5/8" Tobacco Road Acacia:

We installed about 650 feet in our Living Room, Dining Room, and Hallway. The wood is just flat our gorgeous. If you want a uniform looking floor with the same dominant color and long planks, this isn't the floor for you. The wood has a ton of variations in color and grain. No 2 pieces look alike.

We have 2 large labs that run up and down the hall. They are learning to slow down, but they do run. We were worried about scratches, but honestly, we know there are going to be some. To our surprise though, the dogs have not done much. You can probably find scratches, but they are very, very light and you cannot see them without really looking for them.

We had some of it professionally installed, but then we did the rest ourselves. I've never installed a nail down floor before, but it was really easy. We were just worried about getting it started right. We did have some tongue splitting, but nothing that was horrible. I was hoping to use staples, but LL recommended that we use cleats so we did (18 gauge).

We had carpet before, and everyone that comes to our house now just goes nuts about how much better our house looks that it did before.

This is the most beautiful flooring. It is the first thing everyone notices when they come in the house. Its very durable. The color goes with everything. I put it in my living room, kitchen, office and dining room. At some point I would like to continue it in my bedrooms also. I had it professionally installed as a nail down. Love it!

The flooring is beautiful. I did have it professionally installed and love the results. I replaced a dark tile floor with this in my foyer and powder room. I put it next to other med dark wood floors and everyone says how great it compliments that. I plan to have my other floors refinished to a lighter color so I wanted something that would keep these rooms segragated, but still match.

                        A:

Yes, as per NWFA Installation Guidelines:
National Wood Flooring Association ©2007 l Revised 05.2012
                        Chapter 10
                        Installation Over Existing Floors
                        Part I
                        Existing Floor Requirements
                        A. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for installation over existing flooring.
                        B. Glue‐down parquet applications that require the use of PVA adhesives are not recommended over existing
sheet vinyl or vinyl and cork tile flooring unless an underlayment is put down first. Underlayment should be in
accordance with adhesive and/or flooring manufacturer’s recommendations.
                        C. Particleboard is not generally an acceptable underlayment, because it lacks stability. Some manufacturers
approve particleboard as an acceptable underlayment, as they do not warrant against subfloor movement. In
                        such cases, follow manufacturer’s recommendation.
                        D. Other types of adhesives may require the use of a primer or vinyl blocker when installing over sheet vinyl or
vinyl and cork tile flooring. Follow adhesive manufacturer’s recommendations.
                        E. Nail‐down applications may be successful over existing sheet vinyl or vinyl tile if fastener penetration is not
significantly diminished and the subfloor meets minimum requirements. Fasteners must penetrate a proper
                        subfloor by at least 5/8”.

I know dogs are hard on hardwood. We currently have pergo installed currently and no matter how fast you wipe a spill the flooring mushrooms up. I have a dog and I have family that visits with 2 dogs. I'm wondering how this will stand up over time. I'm really like this look. also are all the planks relatively short? Also are there anti bacterial or anti microbial underlayment for hardwood?

                        A:

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability. Yes we do offer anti microbial underlayments such as Bellawood Premium and Eco Silent Sound HD.

High heels or spiked heels are damaging to hardwood flooring. They strike the floor with more force per inch than an elephant's foot. High or spiked heels in disrepair are especially harmful, as the heel acts much like a tiny hammer pounding away at the floor with as much force as 10,000 pounds per inch!

Hardwood flooring is regularly used in kitchens. We recommend placing throw rugs by sink as spills and moisture can harm hardwood flooring. Spills should be toweled up promptly.
