Virginia Mill Works Co.- 1/2" x 5" Tobacco Road Acacia Prefinished Handscraped Engineered Flooring- 30 Year Warranty

Virginia Mill Works Tobacco Road Acacia is distinguished by its eye-pleasing, handscraped surface, giving it a delicate, rippled appearance. Crafted from durable engineered hardwood, the 5 inch planks have a light, honey finish with contrasting medium brown hues and natural Acacia graining. The rustic distressing and charming color variation makes this a versatile floor, suitable for almost any décor.

About Virginia Mill Works:
Reminiscent of the beautiful, handcrafted floors found in Colonial American homes, Virginia Mill Works Handscraped and Distressed hardwood flooring fuses old-world craftsmanship with modern design and prefinishing. Backed by a 30-year warranty, each floor is a work of art, adding textured beauty to any room in your home.

Features:
- 1/2" x 5" prefinished, engineered hardwood
- Handscraped hardwood veneer
- Light to medium honey brown, contrasting pattern
- Nail, float or glue installation
- 30 Year Warranty

Installation Tips:
- Nail-down, glue-down, or edge-glue and float.
- Store flooring flat for 48 hours in its original packaging at room temperature.
- Must be installed over a clean, stable, flat, smooth, and dry surface.
- Moisture barrier is required for installations over concrete.
- For a more natural look, mix planks well when installing.

About Handscraped Flooring:
Handscraping is a distressing technique that gives floors a natural, time-worn appeal. It beautifully replicates the rippled appearance of a vintage, handcrafted floor.

About Engineered:
Hardwood veneer layers are stacked in a laddered construction.  Because wood expands and contracts in the direction of the grain, one layer stabilizes the next, resulting in a product that is less susceptible to the effects of moisture & temperature change.

**Important Note:
Due to construction differences, this floor should not be assembled together with the traditional plywood layered core SKU# 10012752. Unlike the plywood layered core, this floor has a solid framed core and our testing has shown this framed core provides more stability than the traditional layered core.

  • Q:

would this product be stable in a three season room
Asked on 4/26/2015 by craig from United States

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

No. Wood flooring products and most other require climate controlled rooms year round. Wood flooring is a dynamic material subject to changes in dimension as a result of changes in humidity in the surrounding environment. It is recommended that the rooms that will have prefinished wood installed be climate controlled with temperatures of 50 to 80 degrees F., preferably 65 to 75 degrees F. humidity of 30% to 50% maintained. In addition, the rooms should not be closed off from a normal air flow. Therefore with prefinished flooring, you will experience problems in a non-environmentally controlled area. Our most stable flooring is our engineered, bamboo, cork, vinyl, and laminate. They too recommend climate control in their expressed warranty's.

Urethane finish can't handle the dimensional changes that take place with extreme environmental shifts, HOWEVER you can use an unfinished hardwood (preferably quarter/rift sawn) finished with tung or other natural oils as with covered porch flooring. These site finished penetrating sealers expand and contract with the flooring without cracking.

  • Q:

    1) Is the top veneer layer thick enough to be sanded & refinished even once?

    2) If I use this, I need to raise up by 1/4" to match adjacent rooms... I see remarks about not installing over traditional plywood - is this referring to a specific LL product to avoid or any 1/4" BC home center plywood? If any, what do you suggest as an intermediate layer instead?

  • Q:

I love this flooring however would it work in the kitchen and be ok with 2 corgi dogs? Dents, scratches and if it gets wet and wipe up quickly?
    Asked on 2/22/2015 by Liz

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
      Thank you for your inquiry.
