My friends had this floor installed and I just loved it so I had to do my house. Best move I made. It was either the floor or a Harley Davidson. I made the right choice and everyday I look down and say "wow, what a beautiful floor". I wish I did the whole house with it.

Q:What underlayment do you recommend for either the 7/16 Morning Star Shantou Strand Bamboo or the 7/16 Brazilian Koa by Schon floating floor to be installed over subfloor in a kitchen on a upper floor
A:An underlayment pad is required when floating SCHön Quick Clic floors. Appropriated underlayments for these floors are:
Q:What is are the dimensions of the box the wood comes in?
A:Box measures approx. 11" x 5" x 48".
Q:I just bought this Koa and per the sales person this product will not scratch real easy, is this true? wish I would have investigated a little more about this product, but hoping thr people who I bought this from were honest enough to tell me all about this flooring-thanks dave
A:Wood floors like furniture will scratch and dent if not properly protected. It is recommended to use felt furniture pads under the furniture legs. Pet nails should be kept trimmed and sharp objects (including high heels) kept off the floor. Often scratches can be adequately repaired using liquid scratch covers. Dents and nicks can be filled using wood floor repair kits available at your local home store. Many dog scratches can be prevented by covering their nails with vinyl claw covers. If your floor is severely damaged please consult a professional about refinishing or an individual board replacement may be all that’s needed. Scuffs can often be removed by rubbing the spot with mineral spirits on a cloth rag. Thank you for your inquiry.
Q:We have 1,500 SF of this product that was installed this last summer. We pulled one 9x12 Persian carpet up for cleaning and the floor was very light in color compared to the exposed part. There is some sun exposure but not much. After a week I see that the area where the rug was is slightly darker than before. Will this area match the rest soon ? Seems the dye faded very quickly
A:Color change from UV Light exposure is normal with natural wood flooring. Stained flooring can be better because of the colored stain will provide more of a uniformity and lasting color. Natural color flooring on the other hand will change with age and exposure to UV light. These changes will even out with time but can be very apparent in the first months to year or so. Generally lighter colored woods can darken and darker woods lighten. Occasionally rotating rugs and furniture is recommended.
Q:We would like to install about 400 SF of this product in our kitchen , is it recommended for this application ?
A:Engineered is acceptable for installation in a kitchen, but we highly recommend you put a throw rug by the sink because an excess of water can damage any floor. Like hardwood flooring, spills should be toweled dry promptly.
Q:What is the recommended process for cleaning and maintaining this floor? Thank you.
A:Our wood floors are manufactured for maximum durability, easy maintenance and finished with a high quality aluminum oxide water base urethane UV cured finish. This step protects the wood and helps keep the flooring looking beautiful longer. While highly durable, the finish is NOT considered indestructible. However, by observing a few precautions like setting up a regular cleaning routine and simple maintenance program to protect the finish, you can expect years of performance and beauty from your wood floor. All wood floors can show signs of wear over time. There are many factors that can affect the amount of wear. These include the size and lifestyle of your family and product location.
Q:What is the thickness of the wood veneer?
A:The veneer thickness is 1.6mm. Thank you for your inquiry
Q:Can this be installed over concrete basement flooring?
A:Yes you can!
Q:I did not see a better question type to ask my question so I put it here. Which wood filler (color) would you recommend for this flooring to fill in a small dent?
A:Wax filler sticks, stain markers and color-putty are now available at your local Lumber Liquidators used for minor hardwood repairs. This process is used to fill-in face-nails, nicks and gouges. Select the appropriate stick color to match the damaged area. Often several colors are used to blend colors for exotic species bring a scrap piece of the flooring to match it up. Thank you for your inquiry.
Q:Is it possible to refinish this floor because of the real wood layer? I have had the floors for 3 years and between dogs, kids and furniture they are not in the best shape, a lot less durable than expected.
A:Full refinishing will take slightly under a 1/32” off the veneer of the wood flooring. The thickness of the veneer and how much wear and dents a floor has will determine how many times it can be refinished. Solid hardwood that is ¾” thick may be refinished 4 to 7 or more times depending on how much wood was taken off on each refinishing. Engineered flooring with a 1/8” wear layer or more will be able to be refinished at least once. We recommend that hardwood floor refinishing be done by a professional and if your not sure if you can refinish your flooring have professional sand and finish expert come to your home and evaluate your flooring.
