|
Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury. Quick Highlights: Strand To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure. This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty. And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision. It's simple... Not enough and want more?

We bought this for our mastersuite that we built in our basement (after having a surprise 4th child.)EASY clic together installation. It was a rough winter/spring in Wisconsin so we had to do the cutting in the basement and the smell was VERY strong. After we cleaned up all the dust with the shopvac and the floor was installed the smell went away. With 4 kids ages 6 and under we needed something durable. we accidentally dropped random heavy tools on it when doing the finishing touches and barely a dent, if any. Thanks to my 18 month old we found out it will scratch if something sharp is dragged but it covers up nicely with a felt stain marker. Husband and father-in-law did an 18x15 bedroom and 11x6 closet in less than a day. Easiest to work from left to right. It has a dark finish to it so dust and sweaty/wet feet marks are more noticable momentarily but coming from a clean freak-I can get over that to have the beauty of this floor in my sanctuary away from the kids! Just to be safe we let flooring acclimate for 2-3 weeks. Our basement is not wet/damp but we run a dehumidifier anyways to help out the air conditioner so hopefully we won't have to worry about gapping/swelling as my research revealed can be an issue with Bamboo, if moisture levels are not consistent.

This install is on a below grade concrete basement. The install took 4 hours for 400 sqft. The click system is very smooth and easy. all the boards had a uniform color and clicked perfectly. The only drawback is like all dark floors the dirt, lint, crumbs are very visable. Also use a thin glove to avoid thousands of little splinters in your hands.

I chose this flooring to go in our master bedroom and main living room. After installing it in the bedroom we returned the remaining flooring to exchange for a non-floating floor.
This floor looks absolutely gorgeous but now that the weather has changed a bit, the floor visibly and noticably bounces. I installed this floor in Sep 2012 and followed all the recommendations from the sales assoc. at LL. I allowed the floor to acclimate for 2-3 weeks, made sure the subfloor was 100% level, put down premium underlayment, and glued the ends together. During the install the floor was solid as a rock and you could not even tell the difference from a nail down hardwood. About 1 month after the install you can see "bubbles" and can feel them when you walk on them. I'm hoping this is due to the humidity change and will correct itself during spring and summer.
Also this floor is so hard it will split on you. I wanted to face nail the first row but I couldn't even drill into the planks. I split 2 boards and lost 3 drill bits on the very first board! This floor is ridiculously easy to install though. I completed a 400 sq ft room solo in just 1 day.

We did our research regarding Bamboo and read about the scratches, the odor and quality along with a number of other floors but we also needed something that was in stock in a local store. We were installing the floor ourselves, me and my father in law, so we decided to go with this flooring. We wanted an older looking floor that had a bit of "comfort" look to it. However, my wife couldn't have been happier once this floor was put in. Also, the click-lock was very simple to install. The wood is sleek and modern but the way it clicks together and fits against the board next to it allows the look to be a bit less modern, think "comfortable chic". We are not the modern looking types of people, our home is full of a mix of antique furniture and new furniture that has an older feel, think Thomasville. Anyway, we were nervous about the smell from other reviews. My wife gets migraines. There is a bit of odor to it but once installed it decreases drastically. If you leave the room for a while (days) with no air movement it may build up but it soon disipates when you walk in. My father in law says it "smells like bamboo". Both my wife and I were very relieved. Also, it needs to be swept more often due to the darkness of the wood showing dirt more but it's not that bad. We couldn't be happier with our selection and it fits our slightly "vintage" style with a touch of modernity.
