Comments about 3/4" x 2 1/4" Utility Oak Flooring:

I used this product to extend the existing hardwoods in my bedroom across an addition to the home that was made before I purchased it. The price point is undeniably great, but it has some drawbacks. First off, most of the pieces are quite a bit shorted than standard stock. Secondly, there is a lot of stock in each bundle that is good for little more than firewood. Tongues and grooves are missing from some pieces and many of the longer pieces are simply unusable if you want to have a good-fitting, uniform floor. I would honestly recommend using this product in conjunction with the higher-grade flooring material for use as end pieces, etc. to make the more expensive product stretch farther.

Service and delivery comments:

Service was great.

      Comments about 3/4" x 2 1/4" Utility Oak Flooring:

I installed this flooring on the wall in my dining room and think it turned out pretty good. I read all the reviews and I'm pretty handy, so I went to my local store and picked some up. There were a lot of comments about needing double the amount due to the unusable pieces. This was true for me, but mostly because I needed to buy more since I was looking for those character pieces with knots and striping. I would definitely say that this would be a lot of work for a floor. I would say that I found about...15% unusable, but it would have been more if I hadn't been able to make some of my own tongue and groove on a bunch of ends (I used table saw for this) and had to shave some of the tongues on the top thinner to fit into another piece. There is also some warping on some of the pieces. There were a few dozen pieces that came with an angled end instead of straight, so they need to be cut.

-Installing: I marked all the studs on my wall the entire length. You can do without the tongue and groove if you aren't going to hang anything, but i wanted to put some stuff up, so I figured the tongue and groove helps to lock them into each other and keep from pulling away from the wall. I used a glue for wood floors/paneling on each piece and made sure 90% of the pieces used were nailed directly into a stud. Because of the saw work I had to do and making sure that I had a evenly distributed pattern (not too much light or dark or rustic in one spot), each row took me about 45 min. If I was less picky about the pattern, it would have been faster. I bought 6 bundles which is about 20 sq feet each and I had 3 five gallon buckets left of pieces that were not usable for the wall plus a bunch of nice clean pieces (less character) that I used to make a headboard, oh! I also did the hood in my kitchen. I try and not waste when I can :).

-I would definitely do this again, but it was time consuming. The cost makes it worth it!

      Service and delivery comments:

I had a good experience when I bought it. I went directly to my local store. They had some in stock. They loaded it up for me and were very pleasant.

          Comments about 3/4" x 2 1/4" Utility Oak Flooring:

I'm remodeling my old carriage house. I had some white rustic oak left over from a previous job, but not enough to finish the new project. All they had in stock was utility grade, so I got it. Turned out great for a hundred year old carriage house, its very fitting. I mixed the rustic white oak and the utility together. It took a bit longer, but not a lot difference between the two. If you do a little planning you can use it all with very little waste, I would say less then 5% waste. The utility has some big knots, missing tongs, shorts pieces and more red oak then white oak. I was shocked at what you get for the price, I will use it again in my next project

We used this flooring in our bunkhouse, so we were looking for something that was rustic but durable. The pieces are unfinished, and for the most part short, they may have worm holes and knots in them but for the purpose we were using it for it fit the bill, I wouldn't use this in my home, but it was perfect for the bunkhouse.

Wow , I am so glad to be done with this . This is not for the faint of heart by all means . I had other issues regarding getting my floor leveled first which was a complete nightmare. Because Some areas were off by 1 7/8" . They receommend you buy more which I did . And I struggled towards the end of the room locating pieces that were usable. I would recommend this floor to anyone that is not a perfectionist. I am happy considering the cost. It looks rustic and very unique .
