I removed a wall and so I had a 4" area to cover. I didn't need much, so buying one bundle gave me plenty of room to scrap the worst and use the good stuff.

Utility oak is a fantastic value, given that you are experienced with both floor install and finishing

Comments about 3/4" x 2 1/4" Utility Oak Flooring:
Once you pick out the unusable pieces it is easy to install. We thought we could get away with only buying and extra 10% but ran out; we would recommend getting about 30% extra. We ordered more but had to wait 9 days for it to come in to finish last 2 feet of the room. Looks great and awesome price! Can take a while to come in once ordered. We needed to redo 2 rooms and weren't sure how easy utility oak would be to install so we did the smaller room first. Took less than 3 hours to install 80 sqft and we have now bought more to do the second room. We are using the bad pieces as the kick board under the kitchen cabinets and to burn in the chiminea!

I have used this product many times on my rental houses and it is beautiful. This time however the bundles contained entirely short pieces. I was able to save the project by using left over longer pieces form another job. Check your bundles.

Comments about 3/4" x 2 1/4" Utility Oak Flooring:
We installed this floor in a commercial active bar. It is perfect for this type of application as it is thick solid wood that will be able to take alot of wear. It is seen under dim lighting, so imperfections are less noticable. We did have a high percentage of unusable pieces (pieces that tapered in thickness, large holes and knots, pieces missing or having incorrect tongs or grooves) so be advised that you will need to over buy to allow for the shrinkage

About 85% usable product per batch. The rest can be cut down for baseboards of trim.

It would have been a lot better if we recived the correct size, the description stated that we would get 12-18" pecies and 90% of them were between 6-9".

Comments about 3/4" x 2 1/4" Utility Oak Flooring:
Each piece of floor is unique but be ready for a lot of waste due to: missing groove, holes, short pieces...you name it. Always order at least 30-50% more than you need. It takes a lot of time to lay because you have to review each piece carefully before you find a good one.
We have this floor through out our house and it works beautifully. Granted our house is only 1300 sq ft and built in the 1890's so the unique floor fits perfectly.
