This product rolls out easy enough, but you have to staple down the ends or it will roll back up on you. Also, because it wants to roll up so badly, it is difficult to get good straight chalk lines over them because it doesn't lay perfectly flat. I could have stapled down the paper in the field to prevent this, but wanted the silicon un-obstructed so the flooring could slide around easily.

I recommend lining the floor with the floor joits (opposite the flooring) so they slide across the paper without catching. You will be tempted to staple down but dont! Just staple the first row per the directions. If you staple down, you will get bunching of the paper near the end of the installation.

I used this product to lay my laminate flooring down. It was quick and easier then using the tar paper that I have used in the past installing other laminate and hardwood flooring. This paper didn't slide around as much while installing the flooring, and best of all it didn't have that funky smell like the tar paper did.
Easy to use and it works.

This was the first time I have installed a wood floor. I was ready to use 15# felt but the store only had this in stock at the same price. I've heard the 15# felt will mark the walls and there is not that problem with this stuff. You can draw pencil lines on it unlike felt. The wood slides easily into place with the silicon side of the paper being up. The guy at the store says their installers use this stuff. I can't say anything bad about it and it was the same price as a roll of felt.

Instructions are printed on the label, contrary to earlier reviews. Staple the first run at the trailing / long wall edge, then slide subsequent runs under the previous with a four inch overlay. Watch out for catching an edge with your foot. All the rolls were without defect.
This product is great I loved how the hardwood slid on this paper, I would use it again on any job!
It's just vapor barrier underlay. Not much to shout about.

The product does the job, but don't go straight to it instead of the standard tar paper. My rolls had many imperfections that made it much harder to roll out efficiently. I was going to try to minimize overlap by laying the paper strips fairly close. However, some parts of the paper were scrunched up in the roll which caused the paper to be uneven in length. The paper also always rolled back up after rolling it down before I could come by with the staple gun, making it a 2 man job on something that is supposed to be the easy part.
LL sold me this when I asked for standard tar paper. They said it was basically the same thing, but this paper didn't smell bad or mark the walls. While that's true, it's evident by the reviews on this site that tar paper is a much better way too go.
I used the product to put down bamboo floors and it worked well.

Q:
whats the thickness of this product? want to nail down 3/8" bamboo over it. want to know what kind of subfloor imperfections it would hide, if any.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
This is 0.006” thick. Used as a vapor barrier and aids installation only. Subfloor for solid hardwood or naildown engineered needs to be within 3/16" in 10’ or 1/8" in 6' variance. Options are Sand high areas or joints, use wood shims wedged between joists and the subfloor to raise it. Protruding nails/staples should be ground flat. Build-up low spots with layers of 15 lb builders felt, old vinyl, plywood or shims (do not use cement leveling compounds).Q:

I am going to be nailing the Quing Scorpian Bamboo to a would subfloor. Traditionally I would have used 15 lb. roofing felt or resin paper. I have a concreate sub floor, can I use this to install the 8mm Angel Fire Cherry LaminateSKU: 10021956. Its on the 1st floor, so noise inst an issue, so this vapor barrier is all i need correct?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
A 6 to 8 mil poly sheeting moisture barrier should be laid for floating floors for an On or Below Grade Concrete subfloor. Overlap seams 4" and tape with duct tape. Overlay perimeter 3-4" up wall. Then lay approved underlayment if it's not already attached as with some laminate flooring.Q:
Do we staple the silicone vapor to the plywood floor or do we tape it...thank you1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
You can add a few staples to hold in place while working but not too many.Q:
First, is this a "moisture" barrier and can it be used over cement AND wood sub flooring?1 answer
A:
SKU # 10021412 (Silpaper) is not recommended over concrete, use our 6 mil poly for the cement areas,Q:
I have a crawl space, with a plywood subfloor and hardwood already installed. I want to level the floor and install laminate, can I just use this as a vapor barrier or do I need additional products?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
You can use as a vapor barrier. More importantly however is to be certain your crawspace is prepared. When installing Laminates or other floating floors over cement, VCT, ceramic tiles or kitchen vinyl, use 6 mil Poly sheeting plastic as the moisture barrier. Omit plastic when covering bare wood subfloors thereby allowing the subfloor to breathe. In crawl spaces under the wooden subfloor, 6 mil Poly sheeting plastic should be placed over the dirt.Q:
can i use painter's tape to tape down seam from one piece to another?1 answer
A:
If you decide to tape the seams (not required or recommended) I would recommend using a stronger moisture resitant type such as a quality strapping tape.
