We used the white silicone paper as an underlayment material for our hardwood install and it was easy to use and accomplished the purpose. It was affordable and helped in seeing any debris left on the floor before installing boards.

I was thinking about getting some of the additional underlayment for sound dampening, additional insulation and possibly even out any imperfections in the floor. I am glad I saved my money. This stuff was perfect.

The one thing I didn't like is it was hard to tape down because of the slick finish.

The house was built in 1940, so the floor is not on a concrete slab. it is on, i suppose, wood planks, because I can see the ground when the old plywood is pulled up. Tell me the best way to restore the floor and with what material do I use. Please help!!!!

It does not make a difference regarding moisture protection, but the shiny side up (which is the way it rolls out) helps with the boards sliding easily during installation.

No recommend using 6 mil poly sheeting for a vapor barrier and then an underlayment pad and then install your laminate floor. Thank you for inquiry..

I am planning to glue down a 3/8 engineered flooring on a concrete slab with radiant heat. Do I need a vapor barrier at all? Moisture is not an issue with the floor heat. It is on grade.

SILPAPER would not be applicable for a glue down install.
