I laid out this paper as a vapor barrier for a bamboo floor. This paper is very substantial. It's not cheap, easily torn or wrinkled paper. The slick waterproof layer on top of the paper allows for planks to be slid easily on it and completely prevents it from being snagged or tearing.

It does not make a difference regarding moisture protection, but the shiny side up (which is the way it rolls out) helps with the boards sliding easily during installation.

 Best Choice over radiant heat systems.
 *Perm Rating is .46 without nail holes and .712 with nail holes.
 When installed under floating flooring it is recommended to put staple size holes as you would during installation of a nail down hardwood flooring in order to meet the perm rating of .7 or more in compliance with the NWFA guidelines.
