Comments about Dream Home 6mil Poly Sheeting:

We used this over concrete slab and under underlayment for engineered wood. Even though the underlayment has a moisture barrier, we went the belt and suspenders route to ensure the expensive wood we were installing would be well protected should moisture ever be an issue. We liked the full 10' width, not having to use a bunch of tape as is needed when you use the roll type.

I used it over concrete floor. This plastic underlayment has strong plastic odor but not too bad once laminate is laid. I noticed noises when walking over area with wrinkles. Good value.

Can I use this product on the below grade basement concrete walls between the ferring strips and sheetrock I am planning to put up after the resiliant vinyl floor goes down over this? I think I will have alot left over and on a tight budget.

                          A:

Recommended basement interior insulation strategies involve placement of a layer of rigid foam insulation against the foundation wall.

Poly sheeting can trap moisture and create mold in a wall.

6 mil poly would not be recommended over particle board.
The only way to completly get rid of the smell would be to replace the subfloor.
