Handscraped appearance and texture... Just like Hardwood flooring!

Kensington Manor by Dream Home - 12mm Glacier Peak Poplar Laminate Flooring - 30 Year Warranty

Kensington Manor is a premium 12mm + 3mm pre-glued underlayment laminate product line. What is unique is that most of the line has a handscraped finish appearance. This is not simply in the look, but also in the actual texture!
The combination of these 2 characteristics gives them a beautiful rustic feel!
Also, the V-groove and pre-glued 3mm underlayment will make your installation process quick and easy.

Quick Installation Tips:
- Store flooring flat for 48 hours in its original packaging at room temperature.
- Must be installed over a clean, stable, flat, smooth, and dry surface.
- Moisture barrier is required for installations over concrete.
- Make sure the panels are mixed sufficiently when you install them so that you do not end up with too many identical, light or dark panels next to each other.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE ADDITIONAL PADDING:
Laminates having pre-attached padding can also be installed over an underlayment. When doing so, Lumber Liquidators recommends the use of Bellawood Platinum, Bellawood Premium, Quiet Walk or the Eco Silent Sound underlayment. These quality underlayments offer best joint/seam support while ensuring superior thermal sound reduction qualities, these properties are highly recommended for use with condominium associations, project planners and building specifiers.

Kensington Manor Flooring Advantages:
- No glue and no nails needed
- Easy Click Installation
- Moisture resistant board
- Thickness: 12mm + 3mm (1/8") pre-glued underlayment
- AC Rating: 3
- 30 Year Warranty

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

This was installed in a smaller bedroom. The room was dark and needed a lighter floor which this product provided. The subfloor was level and having pre-attached pad, the floor was installed directly on the subfloor.

This was my first floor installation. I researched for a couple of weeks on the methods, tricks, and watch outs. Not being one to do anything easy, I decided that laying the floor at 45 degrees would look great. And it does! However, it took 2 to 3 times longer at 45 and you need to work from both edges starting at the middle of the room out. Do some research if you will be flooring a closet, too.

If you will be installing this flooring yourself, get the installation kit!!! You cannot do this without it. Also, use the wall spacers. As you use the tapping block and pull bat, the entire floor moves. It WILL get out of square quickly without the spacers. A 12" compound miter saw made quck work of the cuts. I can't imagine using a hand saw.

The look and feel of this flooring is superb. The graining doesn't appear repeated like some styles. The foot-feel is warm which is a nice suprise. The seams are tight which makes cleaning easy. After 1 year, there are no signs of wear or dents even with kids in and out of the room constantly. Because there are 3 different lenghts of boards in each box, I didn't have issues using a long board for a small piece. I ended up with just under 3% scrap and was able to return 1 unopened carton. If all boards were the same length, I would have had much more scrap.

You need to be carefull handling the boards. The edges of the laminate are somewhat brittle and will chip if bumped. I have 2 small chips along the seam that do show since the core is much darker than the face. These chips are small and really, no one but me knows they are there. The locking of the boards is tricky. Once flat, they stay together really well. But, as you install a long row, lifting the last board even a little will release the lock. 2 people and a lot of tapping are needed for long rows. Once you get going and learn the tricks, it gets easier and faster.

Overall, I had a lot of fun installing this flooring with the help of my 9 year old son. The results are very good and I would do it again. There is a lot of value with this product and I didn't think a laminate would look this good. And now my son believes I can do anything!

EXACTLY what we needed to bring our tropical theme together in our Den! Not a great product for the inexperienced installer though. Due to type of tongue and grove it can be very difficult to click, and stay together without knowing some tricks.

    Great looking, durable laminate!

    Cons

    • Delivery Time

We've got two dogs that love to chase each other around the house and when we brought that up to the in-store rep, he immediately recommended going with a 12mm laminate like this one. We're not entire done laying it yet but we can already tell that this stuff is durable. A few dropped tools on it here, sliding our refridgerator on/off of it multiple times and of course the dogs running around on it and there's not a single mark to be seen.

What I like most about this aside from the durability and looks is that it's hand scratched to give it a much more pleasing texture. This flooring feels great to walk aroud on barefoot and helps brighten up the room!

      Service and delivery comments:

We were quoted 10-14 days for delivery and it ended up being closer to 21 days. I was disappointed because nobody from Lumber Liquidators contacted us to give us updates or let us know it would be late.

Once it did arrive at our local store the store employees were VERY helpful in getting it loaded and making sure to answer any questions I had about installation.

I took the label from a box left over from a previous installation, thinking that the new flooring could be integrated with the old in one continuous flow. I was very disappointed when the two were different sizes and a T-mould had to be placed between the two, disrupting the aesthetic flow.

      Service and delivery comments:

      • Chips easily
      • Hard to click together

      Best Uses

I am on the fence with this product. The price was great but 2 of the boxes we opened had multiple chips in the laminate before we even started, it was hard to click together and more of the boards chipped as we were installing it. It looks great now that it is in, but I probably wasted a full 2 boxes due to chipped boards. I recommend hiring someone to install it.

            Best Uses

This product's quality is terrible. There were a number of pieces that were already chipped when we pulled them out of the box. Also, when this floor is in use, every small thing to fall on the floor chips it. One positive of this floor is that it is fairly easy to install. I would not suggest this floor for anyone who has kids or is slightly clumsy.

Floor drains are put into slabs for a reason, so not sure if it is OK in your situation.
If you decide to move forward make sure slab is flat to within 3/16" in 10 foot install a 6 mil poly moisture barrier first.

I just ordered this flooring for my home along with stair noses. I know laminate is usually glued down for stair installations. What is the proper procedure for installing this on stairs since it has an attached underlayment? There is nothing I could find in the installation guide on stair applications

                                A:

Remove the padding from the laminate.

                                Floating Stair Step Installations:

                                1. Starting from the bottom of the staircase working up, cut the stair riser to match the height and width of the step. The risers can be made from the flooring or other finished material.
                                2. The flush Stair Nosing is then installed to overlap and cover the riser.
                                (Nail and glue for safety,)
                                3. Cut the flooring to length and assemble it with the Stair Nosing. The step
assembly can be done first and installed as one piece if preferred.
                                4. An additional "filler" piece of flooring must be added to the back of the flooring.

The Steps and Risers should be attached by direct gluing to the stair using 100& urethane
construction adhesive or wood mastic. (For safety, omit all padding)

TIP; fit and adjust each step before gluing.
                                Thank you for your inquiry.

I recommend using a 60 tooth carbide tip saw blade.

Can this flooring be installed in a 40 foot span without having to split it with an additional piece? We want it to be able to move/float correctly.
