Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x25" x 8 lft Maple Butcher Block Countertop:
There are better quality products available, but for the price, this cannot be beat. One side of the backsplash is finished for usage, the other is not as finely finished. There are gaps between the individual slats of wood that are filled. I did not stain yet, so unsure of finished look of said filler. I don't feel the filler is overly used, but if you're looking for unflawed joinery, look elsewhere.
Service and delivery comments:
Item received without damage and packaged well. It was shipped to local outlet and picked up by myself to save on the cost of shipping a heavy item.

Bar Top
Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x25" x 8 lft Maple Butcher Block Countertop:
I am happy with this countertop, but not delighted. I have wooden countertops from another company in the rest of my kitchen. The pieces used on this countertop are narrower than my others, but that's OK because it's across the kitchen.
My issue with this countertop is that the edge shows the joint between pieces of wood, and the joinery is not tight enough and it would be nicer looking if it were a straight glue-up than a zig-zag.
Overall, perfectly decent product - nicer than many - but not amazing.

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x25" x 8 lft Maple Butcher Block Countertop:
I cut the piece into two 4 X 2 foot pieces and then cut one of the pieces into a 4 foot by 8 inch piece. I then used dowels to join the pieces and have a wonderful 48 X 32 inch butcher block wood surface on a baking island. I sealed it with three coats of mineral oil on top and bottom. It did require some minor filling with wood filler but this was easy. The only disadvantage for me (a middle-aged 95 lb weakling) was that the piece weighed 100 pounds but even I was able to work with it alone.

I ordered this countertop to use as a garage workbench top. It's almost too nice to use for a workbench! I will have the nicest workbench worktop in the neighborhood for sure.

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x25" x 8 lft Maple Butcher Block Countertop:
I purchased these countertops because of reviews I had seen as well as the price. Not complaining too loudly, it is a case of "you get what you pay for"... It would have been nice if these countertops had been ready to install, but they were not. I had to custom cut the channels for the hardware to join the two countertops, spent several hours sanding down the 1/4 cupping in the middle and about another hour filling the joints where there were large gaps. You could see that the factory did a lousy job of filling the joints, most every one only had a small amount of filler and that wasn't even very deep. All in all, I would not recommend anyone purchase this product unless you really enjoy spending long hours finishing them out before installation.

We listed the species on the Product Genus and Species form we completed, which I have attached.
