Cork underlayment is the natural choice for noise reduction and softer walking.

Comments about Dream Home 6mm 2' x 3' Cork Underlayment Sheet:

I installed this as the sole underlayment of my engineered floating floor. The cork comes in large sheets that go down easy. When cutting, use a very sharp knife, or even scissors, as cutting the cork is like cutting carpet pad. It's chunky and will chunk all over the place as you try and drag a knife through it.

The cork does a good job of insulating some sound and gives the floating floor a good amount of support. The one con I can think of is that this product comes in very inflexible 150 square foot boxes. I would have like to have purchased maybe 60 square feet at a time and not had to waste so much.

The product is so so. Had to be very carefull with it not to break it out of the box, but once down was easy to place and you didn't have to deal with the rolled cork so no ends flaired up

Comments about Dream Home 6mm 2' x 3' Cork Underlayment Sheet:

I purchased this product because I needed additional cork underlayment. The product that I had purchased could not be found locally & I opted for the Dream House Cork Underlayment. As soon as I opened the box, I noticed that a few sheets were crumbled. It looked like graham crackers. We had to pick up each sheet delicately so that it wouldn't break. Had I known, I would have waited a few weeks to purchase the other brand I had which was much stronger & durable. I would never purchase this cork nor would I recommend it.

this was great stuff. it went under our rustic maple and over a very rickety old floor-- about 100 years old. but this stuff made a wobbly floor feel super solid. it reduced noise between floors by at least half-- which is amazing. i am very glad we went with the think stuff. this makes the floor feel really solid and well made... we're super happy.

                      • Q:

I have a concrete floor that has been painted over and finished with a clear sealant. It is chipping up and I want to put bamboo over it now. I really wish to avoid having to scrape off the rest of the paint from the concrete and prepare the concrete in any way. Can I put down an underlayment of cork (with a moisture barrier underneath it), and then glue the bamboo to the cork? Or what would you suggest I do I order to have secure flooring that will last.

                          A:

If you want a glue down bamboo product the cork underlayment would also need to be glued down first and the prep work of the slab will need to be done.
You could use a click bamboo or install a solid bamboo using our Elastilon underlayment product to float it.

When installing Cork under Floating Floors (3mm or 6mm)

Apply plastic poly-sheeting between the cork and cement and all non-porous flooring as a moisture barrier.

Starting against one wall layout the cork and cut it to the desired length. Maintain a ¼” expansion gap around all walls. Continue loose laying cork underlayment for the rest of the installation making sure that all the joints between sections cork are butted together. Tape the joints with an aggressive plastic tape during the installation of the flooring.

The 6mm cork will add approximately an additional 23 decibels of sound insulation control to the complete floor ceiling assembly. The balance of 47 decibals will depend on the structure of the of your unit; which you will need to get from your condo/HOA association or an engineer.

Yes, our floating cork flooring can be installed over concrete with a moisture barrier. Find it here - www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/s/bamboo-cork-flooring/cork-flooring

A 6 to 8 mil poly sheeting moisture barrier should be laid for floating floors for an On or Below Grade Concrete subfloor. Overlap seams 4" and tape with duct tape. Overlay perimeter 3-4" up wall.

Dream Home 6mm 2' x 3' Cork is not a floor but an underlayment.
