Comments about Dream Home - Utopia 6mm American Cherry Laminate:
When we bought our 1400 sq. ft. house, the carpet had to be removed to eliminate allergens. We were on a tight budget and chose this product for it's warm color and low cost. We installed it wall-to-wall in every room except the kitchen and bathrooms using a foam underlayment over the concrete slab. It took us a little while to get good at cutting correctly and getting a good fit, but once we had the right tools to work with and a bit of experience, the installation went quickly and the finished look is excellent. We did find an entire box with defective edges where the printed pattern did not run to the end of the board. We tried to use these as end pieces and cut the defective end off, but a lot of them ended up being thrown out. Months after we installed the floors, a section of the hallway was damaged by a water leak, causing the boards to warp and delaminate. We fixed the leak and walked on the damaged area for nearly a year before we got around to removing and replacing it. We have noticed a very few areas where the product has been damaged by normal wear, generally due to edges that were already damaged when they came out of the box or that got chipped during installation. I will generally go in with a bit of wood glue to fix any cracked edges to try to keep the piece from deteriorating any further. We have concerns about this product's ability hold up over the long haul and we are very careful to not use harsh cleaners and clean up spills immediately, but we really can't complain about the quality since the price was so excellent. We were able to lay new floors throughout our entire house for under $1500 total including all materials and tools, and that is excellent. But the bottom line is that if we could have afforded a higher quality material, we would have sprung for something with a 25 year warranty that doesn't chip so easily. We did give our boxes of remainder to a family member who needed something inexpensive for a basement office space, so I guess that counts as a recommendation.

[...]After a little trial & error as a beginner, the floor went down fast. I used internet for some timely hints and video on installation... Iam getting ready to do the dining room, and bedrooms in the near future. It makes the home look GREAT!!!

6mm laminate flooring is better suited for light traffic areas like bedrooms. For a kitchen you are better off with 7mm or better. We highly recommend you put a throw rug by the sink because an excess of water can damage any floor. Also you will need to wipe up any water as soon as possible.Q:
