Just Install and Enjoy. Each Bellawood floor comes with our exclusive 100 year, UV-cured micro-particle finish already applied. That way you save time and avoid the mess of sanding and finishing after installation. So just install, sit back, relax and enjoy. You've got a Bellawood floor. One look and it's easy to see why Brazilian Koa is often called Tigerwood. Its distinctive orange coloring and brown/black striping make it one of the most unique and exotic species available on the market today. And its durability is simply outstanding, resulting in a "not-so-everyday" floor that will stand up year after year to life's everyday demands. We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.) About "Select Grade" Flooring It Taber Tested "the Best." When subjected to the industry sandpaper abrasion test, known as Taber Testing, Bellawood's durability results were more than double most comparably priced floors. There's good, there's better—and then there's Bellawood.

When it is clean the look is striking...with two dogs and three kids not the choice for kitchen -- shows every spec of dirt, I have learned this is true for all dark floors...wish someone had told me that

Comments about BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 3" Brazilian Koa:
I had to get a friend to help me install approximately 400 ft2 of the Koa flooring. The wood looks great and it took a few days to actually install flooring and finish out molding & trim. I separated all boards out with flaws after opening all boxes to most efficiently use product. No complaints & very little waste. I installed a floating solid hardwood floor over a concrete slab using the Elastilon adhesive pad & initially put down a 6 ml plastic sheeting for moisture control. The pad is great and my wife loves the floors. Thanks!

Comments about BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 3" Brazilian Koa:
The floors are so pretty, but they are so shiny they do show all the dust. Also our contractor had some problems with installation in the beginning because the wood is fragile. Once he switched to smaller nails the installation went very smooth.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 3" Brazilian Koa:
It's a good solid hard wood product but the thinner thickness boards do warp easier and there will be more warped and/or broken boards in the box than you'll likely have with thicker products.
For my application, I wanted the thinner boards because they fit better with similar thickness tile in the house. I have a concrete slab house and used urethane vapor barrier and glued down installation.
I put down 1100 sq ft and had 5% wastage right out of the box due to warped or broken boards. most often it was the grooved side of the board that was broken. All long boards tended to be warped up to 1/4 inch over their length. You can compensate for warping by using clamps to control the gaps. When you apply high clamping pressure you may also need to add light weights (5-10lbs) to add compression so the boards don't buckle and lift up. I've put new hard wood in 3 houses using 3/4 inch or thicker products and never had the issues I had with these thinner boards. You should not have too many issues as long as you plan ahead for the additional waste and plan your layout to allow ample space and time to use some kind clamp.
Bottom line--take your time to work with the wood; don't put down more rows than you can clamp/ compress (allow time for the glue to cure enough so the boards don't move).

Comments about BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 3" Brazilian Koa:
The house is a Victorian started 1907 completed in 1911. The floor seems to blend in perfectly with the earlier interior. We put this same floor in our kitchen six years before. The new floor is lighter and will take a few years to match the kitchen. People find it hard to believe it is the same wood. [...] But well worth it in the end.

The wood is great and looks good.
Service and delivery comments:
Staff was very nice and quick to help. There was a mistake made on my order in the amount of square feet per box. That caused me to have to buy another box with more sq ft than I needed. But the staff dropped the price on the sq ft that I had already paid for and the extra to help minimize the cost.

Q:
So, to answer the question posed earlier about Brazilian Koa, "Does this wood come from the Rain Forest ?", the answer is "Yes"?1 answer
A:
No, our flooring does not come from the rain forest, Our flooring comes from managed forests where tree cutting is monitored carefully within a selective cutting and replanting strategyQ:
We have about 6 places where the wood is cupped in our living room and bedroom. We installed this product according to manufacture instruction with the moisture barrier. We would like to know the best way to repair these speed bumps in our flooring. Thanks!1 answer
A:
Thank you for writing! I would be glad to help you with your questions.Q:
We top nailed some of the flooring where we couldn't use the floor nailer (like close to walls) - I can't find a putty or anything to fill the holes that matches the wood. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!1 answer
A:
It may take a couple or few different colors combined to find a good match for your repairs, we recommend "playing" with colors and using more than one until you find a matchQ:
I see all over the site that you do not recommend Swiffer wet-jet sweepers or ones that spray on the floor...have you heard any problems with the regular swiffer wet sweeper...it's a damp pad that you use at the end of the swiffer.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often.Q:
Does this wood come from the Rain Forest ?1 answer
A:
Lumber Liquidators offers flooring brands that practice responsible harvesting. People that make their living in timber know the importance of sustaining healthy forests. Without a well-planned growth cycle, they simply are out of business. Tree cutting is monitored very carefully within a selective cutting and replanting strategy. At Lumber Liquidators, we believe hardwood flooring is a natural, healthy choice—for both you and the environment. Thank you for your inquiry.Q:
We have dogs, Is this scratch resistant and can the scratches be sanded out if it is scratched?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It has our best finish which is good, it's dark which can show scratching more which can be bad. Light colors hide. Proper care always helps. For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often.Q:
I am in the installation process of my brazillian koa and so far I love it. We are using the glueing method and are having a difficult time finding a product to remove the glue both from our hands and from the wood itslef. Any suggestions other than mineral spirits which has worked just a little?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Whatever the brand of adhesive used, use there remover. Success has been made with the Bostik's Ultimate Adhesive Remover or Mapei Remover followed by a water damp rag to remove the adhesive remover before it can damage the finish.Q:
What installation method do you suggest to install on concrete sub floor?1 answer
A:
Gluing down with the appropriate moisture barrier and adhesive would be the best method for this product.Q:
is this floor compatible with radiant heating1 answer
A:
The Bellawood 5/16" x 3" flooring can work with radiant heat, but better selections would be an engineered Brazilian Koa because it will have better dimensional stability. If you choose the Bellawood 5/16" x 3" Brazilian Koa please read the Bellawood solid installation instructions regarding radiant heat installations.Q:
