We love our new flooring....wish we would have installed it throughout the whole house. It's only been in for about a month, but it's beautiful. Sales force, on the other hand, didn't seem to care if they sold anything or not, which was disappointing.

I put 100 sf of this product down in a small kitchen. Beautiful. It brightens up the room and is so much more attractive than the linloleum that was there.

Comments about Virginia Mill Works 3/4" x 4-3/4" Coventry Oak-Light Handscraped:
I love the selection of pieces. Some unique, but not too crazy. Ensure the wood is installed by someone with patience, do not hire the guy rushing through a bid. This wood needs to be picked over as to avoid gaps. Nice color variations. Wood is made in China if that matters to you. It's not as tough as I wished for. I dropped my keys and put a dent in the floor, but because the wood is duressed, already, no one will notice. Also, avoid installing in the most humid part of the year. I'm concerned when winter comes, it will dry up and shrink a lot. I don't have confidence in ever re-finishing the wood if the need would arise due to the lower spots in the hand scraping.

Installed on a bias in long hallway, easy to work with and fit to pattern. Linear installation in walk-in closet. Matched edges to natural stone and other wood floors, easy to mill my own transitions.

The flooring changes the whole look and feel of the house. Everyone comments on how great it looks.
I wish there had been more longer pieces in the packages. The product looked better on the floor than the sample in the store looked.
Service and delivery comments:
The installers were courteous and professional
They took every precaution for the furniture that we did not move out of the house. They explained the process and worked around us while installing the floor in our entire downstairs floors.

Q:
What is the stain color? If I need to match other wood "stairs" in my house.. Can you give me the Minwax equivalent?1 answer
A:
Unfortunately this stain is not available in a can for retail sale. I would recommend bringing a scrap piece of the flooring (and a piece of the wood transition you will be staining) to a paint store and they should be able to match the stain for you. Thank you for your inquiry.Q:
One customer noted that when he dropped his keys on the floor, the impact made a dent. Hardness ratings don't help much if you aren't familiar with their meaning - will this floor dent easily? Even if the dents won't be easily noticed because of the inherent unevenness, I don't want to get a floor that can't be "used" without risking denting. If the floor is much or softer than others, what would you recommend for a harder wood?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
White Oak is about 5% harder than Red Oak. Both have been used as flooring for centuries. Denting is common in all species regardless of the finish. Harder flooring will dent less easily but can still dent. If you would like a harder floor see our Hardness and Stability Chart; type, "hardness" here for more information 8- http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/Flooring101Q:
We just bought this product and waiting for delivery. We live in a slab home in Albuquerque nm. The store said we can glue this down on top of the concrete. is this true and how long does the product need to acclimate before we install.1 answer
A:
You can find complete installation instructions on the product page by clicking on the specs tab and then clicking on - Installation Guide.pdfQ:
We have coventry oak light flooring thats been acclamating for about 2 1/2 weeks the problem is we live in the Sierra foothils abd there has been a cold snap since the beginning of the year. the relative humidty is only between 19 and 22 % what should we do1 answer
A:
Thank you for writing in! I would be glad to help you with your questions.Q:
Can this floor be glued down in the hallway rather than nailed. It is a small space and we thought this might work better or should we nail it and just putty the holes.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes you can gluedown short length Virginia Mill Works. However nailing is much easier. When nailing your first and last rows where a nailer won't fit because of the wall or cabinets, drill and hand nail as many board as you can through the tongue at a 45 degree angle. When you don't have room for that pre-drill with 3mm bit (3/32") to prevent finish damage/cracking and face nail with 5d-8d galvanized, screw shank, ring shank or regular finish nails. Countersink with a nail punch and fill holes with a matching filler.Q:
I have seen reviews on this product where the installers have said that the width of the boards are not the same. They had to sort the wood by measuring the width of each board to prevent gaps (when installing and later) Has this been addressed by the manufacturer?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It is understood throughout the Hardwood industry, that determinations of compliance to specified width measurements or height tolerances can only be made at the time of milling – it cannot be made afterwards (such as during the actual installation). This is because solid wood is hygroscopic and will continue to expand/shrink depending on JOB SITE ambient humidity, temperature, etc. For this reason, measured width variations will continue to play a secondary role to the actual sight appearance of visual gapping.Q:
How long is the warranty?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
30 Year WarrantyQ:
What is the best way to lay this product over concrete flooring in the DFW, Texas area. I am looking at solid hardwood flooring in the living and bedroom areas.
