Mayflower- 5/16" x 4" Mudslide Birch- Prefinished Engineered Flooring- 10 Year Warranty Mayflower engineered flooring is constructed with a real hardwood veneer atop a core consisting of layers of plywood. The core layers are precisely stacked with the grain of adjacent plies perpendicular to each other. This construction design provides greater stability as each layer offsets the next to counteract normal movement as the wood responds to the effects of moisture and temperature changes. Comments about Mayflower 5/16" x 4" Mudslide Birch:
Mayflower Mudslide is installed on first floor of house. From day one floor has marred, rippled, peeled. Birch is very soft. Veneer is thinner than paper. Store warranty listed as 25 years. Later discoverd online warranty is only 10 years. Would have never purchased floor had I known this.

Comments about Mayflower 5/16" x 4" Mudslide Birch:
Beautiful floor for about 2 weeks. Easily installed and was very pleased. Got many compliments on it UNTIl.... Mother came over with her walker, chocolate lab with her nails, and any and I mean ANY shoes will scratch the heck out of it! I mean anything will scratch it. Unless you are in your bare feet or in socks, You WILL scratch it. Also it shows every little spec of dirt and dog hair. I thought with having a chocolate lab it would match her hair and you wouldn't see it as much, Wrong! I usually use a swifter sweeper on it twice a day and then on my hands and knees with Murphy's oil soap every 2-3 days. This is one of those things where you get what you pay for and this was one of the cheapest engineered floors Lumber Liquidators had. So...There it is. If you have a room that has very low traffic, it would be beautiful but definitely not for a kitchen, diningroom, livingroom or hallway.

Had installed by professional so it looks amazing. I thought it would be too dark but it is rich looking. Painting walls to open up (small house) we have it throughout except bedrooms. Not very durable, we have no children or pets but had scratches and dents 1 day after install. Put cups and felt on all legs in all rooms but still had scratches of unknown origin. A stain marker essential. If had a little better surface protectant and harder would be 5 stars. The fact it dents so easy has me concerned bought large area rugs to cover almost all of the flooring which is sad since it is so beautiful.

You can't beat this for the price. I love the dark color when it is clean. Will need to be swept daily if you have a shedding dog. Its just like owning a black car....you have to clean often. At least you will always be living with clean floors since you can see the dirt. We have two larger dogs one an Akita and they do scratch it up pretty easily. Have had for over two years and is still way better than the previous carpet. Do not recommend glue down if you can avoid b/c it is a major pain and time consuming. Scratches are mostly revealed in direct light. Good Luck. I am debating my next floor purchase for our new build. May go a tad lighter next time.

We had this installed in our living room. The color is beautiful but difficult to keep clean, because you see all the footprints. It doesn't matter how many times you sweep or mop as soon as anyone step foot on the floor without socks you can see the footprint. I have had hardwood floors my whole life and never have seen anything like it. It also scratches very easily. If I would have know this before I would not have chosen this color.

Comments about Mayflower 5/16" x 4" Mudslide Birch:
This was the first floor I've ever installed and I was very apprehensive but it wasn't bad once I got started. I installed it in a living room, kitchen and dining area.
I debated between nailing, glueing, or floating and ended up nailing the parameter and floating the rest. Probably not recommended but its been in for a year and haven't have any problems.
I started using a cleat nailer but the nails were too large for the wood so I used a finish nailer and nailed a few by hand.
The color is absolutely beautiful but quickly gets very dusty. If you've ever owned a black vehicle you know what I'm talking about. It also scratches and dents very easily. I have four young children and this isn't the best choice for high use/traffic areas.
Next time I will go with something lighter and harder.

I had this floor installed a little over a year ago. I'm so in love with the way it looks. It was really cheap but you get what you pay for. I have many scratches, dents and even a couple of gouges from dropping something heavy. I used a black sharpie marker to color in the scratches. When too much water is used when cleaning the floor, you can see the veneer start to bubble up. I would not purchase this floor again but I'm still really happy with it because it's so beautiful.

All the tongue and grooves lined up. Breezed through the open areas. There are different lengths in the box which makes installation that much easier.

Comments about Mayflower 5/16" x 4" Mudslide Birch:
The floor is beautiful installed, but it scratches incredibly easy. It was an affordable price, so we went ahead with it. It's also a dark color, so dirt shows up easily. Would not recommend if you have pets in your house or for high-traffic areas. We'll be getting a bunch of rugs for under furniture.

Q:
CAN I USE THIS IN MY BATH ROOM WILL IT TAKE BEING WET?1 answer
A:
Due to the excessive moisture present in a full bath we cannot recommend any of our solid natural flooring or laminate products for this application, I would suggest one of our vinyl Tranquility products. We have a 2mm peel and stick and now a 4mm click together product that can go in full bath areas or where moisture is a concern. Thank you for your inquiry.Q:

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.Q:

Can the Mudside Birch be refinished after several years?1 answer
A:
Full refinishing; probably not due to the thin veneer.Q:
We are attempting to install this flooring by nail down method. The subfloor is a combination of existing hardwood planks and plywood. We are experiencing a lot of splintering of the tongue and surrounding area of this flooring when being nailed down. We were under the impression that nail down installation would work with this flooring given our entirely wood subfloor. Please advise if this flooring is too thin to sustain nail down installation and if we need to resort to glue instead. Thanks.1 answer
A:
What size nail (staple) are you using? a 20 gauge would be recommended for this low profile flooring.Q:
