Once trowled down and allowed to dry, the coating formed a tough, thick, rubbery (and sticky) seal that moisture cannot penetrate.

Stays sticky for a few days but well worth it if you have concrete subfloor. Get ready for sore arms if you don't do this for a living.

Ensure you know how much you need. Do not buy too much. You can always get more, but returns may be difficult if you take time getting the project done.

Comments about Mapei Mapei Planiseal Adhesive (5 Gal):

Appears thatr it will serve as a good moisture barrier. Spreading and keeking the same thicknees throughout is hard. Will fool you by not appearing to dry completly. Would rather have a combition barrier and glue. Would recommend this product only because I feel it will serve as a good moisture barrier.

When buying and installing a hardwood floor from lumber liquidators, I found the support line extremely valuable. After consulting with the support line, I was able to purchase everything that I needed for my flooring installation.

TIP: Always keep a rag nearby that is saturated with mineral spirits for quick cleanup.

Here's a tip. Whenever you are not trowling, keep the trowel in a tub/tray of mineral spirits. This keeps the trowel clean and fresh. Wipe off the mineral spirits before using and trowel away.

there are places where it seems to buckle -- yes, there was extra padding on my floor. The installers assured me that it can be fixed. Standing by. Otherwise, this is a wonderful product and 98% of the floor is great.

Easy to work with.
By JaymesVerified Purchaser from Tulsa, OK on 9/27/2008
Pros:
Easy To Install, Protects Wood
Best Uses:
Hardwood Floors
Describe Yourself:
Casual Do-It-Yourselfer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Mapei Mapei Planiseal Adhesive (5 Gal):

This product is easier to work with than the glue. I have found it best to use a plastic cup and "scoop" out a cup full and pour it in the area I am at. It spreads fast and is self leveling. If I use this product at night, it can be walked on in the morning. If you clean your tools immediately after using them you can use them over and over.

Planiseal
By macros_5Verified Purchaser from Jupiter, Florida on 8/11/2008
Pros:
Easy To Install
Cons:
Directions arent complete
Best Uses:
Hardwood Floors
Describe Yourself:
Do-It-Yourself
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Mapei Mapei Planiseal Adhesive (5 Gal):

I found the product easy to install however the directions were a little short on how thick it should be or how it should look when applied. But the directions do say to use the correct trowel, which I did and I just left it at that. It seemed a little thick so I called the company (Mapei) who assured me that I did it right and that was how it was supposed to look. I found them very helpful.

Messy, but still worth it.
By Stacy WoodruffVerified Purchaser from Bastrop, TX on 7/9/2008
Pros:
Easy to spread, Less expensive than some, Protects Wood
Cons:
Difficult clean-up, Messy, Slow cure time
Best Uses:
Hardwood Floors
Describe Yourself:
Do-It-Yourself
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Mapei Mapei Planiseal Adhesive (5 Gal):

It was a pain to plan around the long cure time, but definitely worth having a moisture barrier. Messy, and difficult to clean up, but adheres to concrete well, and the flooring glue adheres to it well. Less expensive than other comparable products.
