Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x 25" x12 lft American Cherry Butcher Block:

I love the look of wood countertops but Im not a huge fan of the butcher block look, its too modern for my old farmhouse. When I found these counters at L.L. I knew I couldnt beat the price so I decided to purchase them and finish them my own way. First we rountered the edge, then I banged them up a bit, stained them, then sealed them with Waterlox sealer. They look so rich and really give the appearance that they have been there forever. People think we spent a fortune on them and I cant tell you how many compliments I have received since we installed them! They really make my kitchen!

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x 25" x12 lft American Cherry Butcher Block:

We are turning a guest room into an office and we bought this 12' cherry butcherblock countertop to float on the wall as a desk. It looks amazing and after a few coats of stain it really stands out as the focal point. No visible supports, no legs - just 12' of counter floating there. It's perfect. And 1/2 the price of custom fabricators.

I really love this butcher block it is very pretty, we put tung oil on it and it looks great. The only problem we had was at the store they rapped it up and when we got home and carried it in and put it on our cabinets, we saw that it had been dropped on the corner it has a slight dent in it. We would of took it back but it weighs a couple of hundred pounds and it would have been a lot of work taking it back.

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x 25" x12 lft American Cherry Butcher Block:

This butcher block is built the way things should be and it adds a warm touch to the kitchen. The cherry wood grain shows nicely when treated with mineral oil. I installed this in a rental unit for durability and the fact that I can sand it and treat with mineral oil between tenants. I trust that it will have more charm with age, but i would never cut directly on it.

Great service at all store locations.

Better than expected after reading other reviews. The 12' counter top only weighs 150 lbs, so it can be a 1 man job with some care. The top I received did have some glue from rollers in one area on the finished side and had 3 very small holes that needed to be filled. I'm very happy with the counter top, there are no gaps between any of the boards and it's very flat. I made an island top that is 50" x 72" out of the counter, the materials alone would have been twice the price. Highly recommend!

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x 25" x12 lft American Cherry Butcher Block:

I was excited when we purchased this, then we it was opened there was a gouge in the top and the wood was separating. We used wood putty to seal up the large separations and sanded down the gouge. The color online is darker than what the product is. I still think that butcher block is a great and smart alternative counter that is very affordable and obviously fixable. I just wanted the seams to be tighter then what I received. I would recommend it with a caveat of maintenance.

Service & Delivery comments:

I was disappointed that this item was curb drop off only. We had a friend help us pick it up instead, and it almost did not make it in our door due to our novice in dealing with such things. The sales people we very helpful, and nice. They gave me an accurate time of when it would be in stock, and were great about letting pick it us a couple of days after it came in.

I was pretty disappointed once I got my counter home. The "good side" wasn't much better than the "bad side" lots of gaps filled with glue, and very noticeable. I kept it because the counter will be concealed when the cupboard doors are closed and the trip back to the store was too far.
I was going to use these for the rest of my counters but have changed my mind due to the quality

This product will make you think twice about BOOS, I use to have Boos tops in my home and for 1/5th of the price this is just as good.

Bottom Line:

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x 25" x12 lft American Cherry Butcher Block:

These butcher block countertops look great. I bought two sections - 8 foot and 12 foot. Had to joint the two at a 90 degree corner. Chose to do a 45 miter to join them together rather than but them together. Careful cutting resulted in a great joint. Used a "FastCap" flip bolt to joint the two pieces.

Sanded with 220 grit. Finished with 5 brushed coats of Waterlox - original, waiting 24 hours between coats with 400 grit sanding before the last coat - which was wiped on. Now they are as water resistant as possible without need to re-oil. No odor. Applied thick alum foil above dishwasher - adhered with Super77 spray adhesive - to protect from the steam.

Overall they look fantastic. Remember, though, cherry is hard and heavy. Long countertops are not a one man job. Also, one side is presentable, the other side is more of a "working" side - with knots and imperfect seems. Doesn't matter. Just don't plan on rotating in the future.

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x 25" x12 lft American Cherry Butcher Block:

I bought this 12' cherry butcher block to use as the countertop in my coffee shop. As listed above, it only had one "pretty side" but that's OK for a countertop. They did use some filler on the good side, and there are a few places where there are gaps between the jointed pieces. I had to do a lot of sanding, and round the edges. I put a couple of coats of tung oil on it to bring out the color, then covered that with oil-based polyurethane. Overall, now that it's finished, it's beautiful.

Beware -- poor quality

Bottom Line:

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x 25" x12 lft American Cherry Butcher Block:

I purchased several of these countertops in mid-August for a kitchen remodeling project which involved a large custom cabinetry order which was scheduled to be delivered the first week of October.I picked up the countertops (sealed in cardboard boxes) from the Braintree, MA store in mid-August, and stored the countertops in my spare room, laying flat on the floor stacked on top of one another.Due to a manufacturing delay, I did not receive the cabinets until early November. After the cabinets were installed, we opened the butcherblock countertops to start installing them, but the minute we opened the cardboard they were sealed in, we could see that the countertops were "cupped".That is, if you looked at the countertops from the side, they were slightly warped like a U -- such that if you installed the countertops, and put a marble in the middle of the countertop, the marble would either roll towards the wall or towards you.Clearly, this was unacceptable for my installation. [...].As another poster here indicated, when you take delivery of this product, make sure you immediately open the cardboard and inspect the product completely. I would also recommend you inspect the product for warpage by using a level or other straight-edge across the grain.

I planned to purchase butcher block counter tops from[@] because they were affordable. After measuring I discovered if I went with the [@] counters I would have seams in the middle of my bar since they only come in 8 foot lengths. We went with the cherry butcher block from Lumber liquidators since they offer 12 foot lengths and we are so happy with our decision. I can't believe the difference they made in our kitchen. I love, love, love my new counter tops!!We finished ours with Watco Butcher Block Oil. It's an easy wipe on application and brings out the rich beauty of the wood, offering a water resistant protective finish.

A simple application of Mineral Oil weekly for the first few months and it should be sealed sufficiently. Good product for the price, i would have had more money in just lumber than this entire piece cost! Will recommend to anyone wanting a classic looking kitchen!

The contract says you have to do this before delivery person leaves. I would call the 800 number before signing.

With oiling the cherry color comes through and darkens. I choose these during my kitchen remodel because of price but would install them again even if budget were not a consideration.

This is a beautiful piece of cherry wood. It was not too difficult to install ourselves and it looks great in our kitchen. It was also very affordable. We do have to be careful about getting water on it and wiping up any spills immediately but it is nice that you can just sand out a spot and re-oil it. We used mineral oil and the color of the cherry came out beautiful. We were not able to find sink clips that were long enough so we had to have custom clips made.
