8' butcher block top

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x 25" x 8 lft American Cherry Butcher Block:

This is a bargain at the price; I could not find anything else out there like it. One side is more or less finished, in that it is puttied where it needs, but will still require some work to make it look good. The other side is clearly the underside. We sawed it crossways twice, to make a top for a kitchen island. It isn't really square, and required truing on both ends to get close to 90 degrees. This was important since we are edge-gluing it up into a 37x51 island top. I will also have a cutting board from the leftover piece. A cherry-finish island from [@] would have been about the same overall price, but with a maple BB top and not matching the kitchen exactly. I think this is going to work out fine- if you like building things, the cherry BB countertop is a good raw material from which to begin.

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x 25" x 8 lft American Cherry Butcher Block:

We stacked the backsplash wood to create a taller vintage-looking farmhouse design behind the sink and cut pieces length-wise to trim out the dishwasher - very glad we ordered extra to do this. [...] The overall condition of the wood exceeded our expectations. In previous homes we had quartz and I love how quiet the wood is - no more harsh clanging noises with dishes and glassware. Maintenance is wiping with a cloth and mineral oil. No more shining up the quartz - when the light hit it in places it looked "smudgey" every other day. The wood is warm and welcoming.

Beautiful and not so much upkeep. Jus keep and dish towel handy to wipe-off liquid. When cuts get too deep or too many, just sand and retreat. What could be easier and is much more practical than granite.

This product is great! [...] After a few coats of Salad Bowl finish, it looks absolutely perfect in my kitchen! I would recommend it to anyone who needs something for an island or separate counter-top in their kitchen. Not positive about using it as a main counter-top, but I love the contrast as a separate space from my main counters (that's just preference).

By far, the best value around. The 1 1/2 inch thickness is approprite for my 4' kitchen island. I cut the 8' block in hafe and easily sold the other 4' for more than cost, making this a better value. Only 1 side of this product is quality finish. Do expect a good amount of putty fill in both sides (not on the edges) but nothing that hinders appearance or utility. The unfinished Cherry is much lighter color than expected. Since I am finishing the product, I could have gone for the less expense Maple. Everyone is satisfied: wife, husband and carpenter!

Perfect for the cottage look and very functional too. After we installed I lightly rubbed with cherry stain to deepen the color and applied Watco Butcher Block Oil. One afternoon I noted a DARK stain on the counter top...I lightly sanded with fine sandpaper, reapplied Watco, and the stain completely disappeared. I now apply warmed Howard Butcher Block Conditioner and buff to a slight sheen twice a month. These counter tops are HEAVY (especially the 12 foot length) and require FRESH blades in your saw.

Bought for making a desktop, the price was right. Just make sure you inspect every inch before loading it on your truck. My first one was damaged, so they replaced it. Small voids are filled. The underside of the unit is junk, which is fine but I wonder the quality of the lumber used. Overall I love the top, but inspect it before receiving it.

By using a high quality body sander and 200 grit paper, I was able to bring surface into shape rather quickly. Once installed, I applied three coats of Tongue Oil, one each day for three days. The final product is awesome.

Installed in our 1955 kitchen. It was so easy to use, cut, sand and top coat. Looks so great!

My husband and I had no clue as to what we were where doing so if we could install these anyone can. All you need to do is remove your current countertops, cut your size, dampen these to raise the wood, sand with 220 sand paper to a smooth touch, apply top coat of varnish (we did high gloss), then install. It's seriously easy!!

If you plan to perpare raw food directly onto the surface, then use mineral oil instead of varnish.

We sealed it with several coats of the sealer used to make wooden bowls. It worked wonderfully. I have now had them 1 year and they look good as new. Everyone comments on how beautiful they are and how much better than the granite everyone has. I would never put anything else in my kitchen. It was cheaper than a laminate countertop and will last for ever. Does not look country just very rich.

This is a beautiful countertop. We actually cut it in half, put it together for one big square and made an island. It works wonderfully. It is raw wood and should be sealed. We use a natural food grade mineral oil that you can get at the drug store. It needs to be applied occasionally, but keeps it looking like new.
The countertop is very well constructed. Would absolutely recommend this product and company. We could not find anyone that even came close to their price.

I ordered three pieces of this butcher block, two were used for a long counter in my kitchen, a good contrast to a marble-top island. The wood is very pretty, nice quality and a great price. It was easy to cut to the needed sizes. I also used it as a countertop on custom cabinets for a built-in dining room sideboard, which looks great too. There were a few small dings in it [...], but some sanding minimized that, and in my rustic house, it wasn't a big issue. Oiling the wood brings out the nice cherry color. I may use some remnants left over for backsplashes or a countertop in a bathroom.

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x 25" x 8 lft American Cherry Butcher Block:

The cherry butcher block countertop gives our kitchen a warm feel. We got quotes from other places that were several times higher than Lumber Liquidators. This is a high quality piece at a great price!

I used this slab on an cooktop island. I looked around for butcher block, was hesitent based on price, then found this product at Lumber Liquidators. While the price point was what drew me in, the quality and service quickly matched. I will buy this again, have recommended it to friends, and encourage anyone interested to strongly consider it. I am a DIY'er.

I installed it on the top of my 6'X 6' island in my kitchen. I did not put a finish (stained and sealed) on it I justed used oil. When it gets beat up (scratched or dented) I just lightly sand it and apply more oil. Looks as good as new.

Before the oil, it will darken when oiled

I purchased this butcher block without really knowing what it would be like. Routered the edges 10 minutes of Sanding and 4 coats of polyurethane total time 3 hours. Assembled it with Diner Table legs for a corner booth I had made and it came out beautiful. I have 3 little girls and it will be indestructible. They eat right off the surface, have spilled on it. I will be the kitchen table they grow up using and probably inherit someday. I priced out a custom table for this spot and it was priced at about 1500-1800 non of the customs looked as good. I love the Cherry very understated.
