My biggest complaint with the installation kit would be the spacers. They are plastic and wedge shaped. Since they are wedge shaped, they will jam tightly into the space between the edge of your laminate and the wall; several broke when we tried to remove them. The wedge shape also makes them unstable when standing upright; start moving your laminate into position with the tapping block and the wedge will fall over. No instructions come with the kit, so it is possible we were using them incorrectly, but without instructions, I can't say for sure.
The pull bar was good, except that it could be improved greatly by having a wedge shaped end that is used to go between the laminate piece and your wall. Get your laminate piece too close to a wall and the puller bar lip is too thick to fit. Again, an easy fix.
I felt that the tapping block was OK, the pulling bar average, but the wedges were poor.

This set is too fragile for the 12mm. The bang bar or block was ok, just too small and it really took a beating. The pull bar is useless, it snapped in half when trying to lock the longer pieces in. I ended up buying a stringer bar from another store which worked great. the Spaces shattered as well and I used yardsticks (wood, 60 cents apiece) as spacers as they are long and were the perfect width.

This was absolutely invaluable to get the wood tight into place from both directions. It is shaped for the lips of the wood and the plastic piece protected the pieces while hammering them in beautifully. The bar that you use when too close to an end or a wall is also vital.

If you can fit the plastic block in, put it down then use the bar at the walls, because it's less likely to chip the wood. Don't bang hard on anywhere that will show (or the lips that click together) with the hook of the bar or it will gouge the flooring.

At the ends, that have been cut and will go under the baseboard, bang away on the bar - it'll lock the floors in long ways very well.

The installation kit contains an inadequate number of spacers. The tapping block works quite well but the tool for setting end pieces broke after only a few taps with a hammer.

When installing my laminate floor, the tapping block kept going over the lip on the laminate and sometimes chipped a piece of the laminate finish off the top. When using the pull bar, you have to hold it down with one hand to keep it from losing its hold while tapping with a hammer. I had no problem with the spacers.

This was recommended by the guys @ Lumber Liquidators and I wouldn't have wanted to do the job without it! The tapping block is the item we used the most. As most people commented the pull bar was just ok - wish that was a little more substantial but we still used when we were close to the wall edges and couldn't get the tapping block in place. The spacers were ok - it just depends on your project we did use a couple. Worth every penny!!!

The block and bar from this kit is absolutely essential to install laminate flooring. Without the block, the tounges of the floor planks would get smashed and not hook together correctly. After repeadeted pounding, the block eventually broke, but not to the point where it couldn't be used. The shims are usefull too, but will break if not up against a flat surface.

Most don't comment on the installation kit I guess, however one needs the right tools; don't try to "make-do" with tools not made for the purpose. For a few bucks you have exactly what you need, good quality, and adequate for the task.

I think the idea is great, but the execution of the the pull bar was not good. I used it to install 300sf of Lisbon Cork and mainly for the wall ends. It bent within the first three rows and was useless after that. The beater block and spacers were very useful.

My dad's buddy actually installed the flooring and when he saw that i bought these items he was disappointed at first because he said we wouldn't use them... but he ended up using them on the ENTIRE floor, i thought it was quite funny! these are great tools, the plastic block did wear quite a bit and the black paint chipped of of the metal piece but all in all i am satisfied.

An installation tool is important for a good floor fit, but I didn't expect it to wear out in the first 150 square feet of floor. The metal tool used to tap near the walls did not spread the pressure well and damaged the flooring sections (a wider tool would not have done this).

While the guys at Lumber Liquidators were great in making sure I had what I needed to finish the job, I went through 3 of these kits (the tapping block and the pull bar) in order to do 1100 sq ft. The plastic tapping block is great until it starts bowing in the middle and eventually breaking. The pull bar is very cheap. I ended up going to get a pull bar for hardwood floors from [...] that was much better. The spacers are okay, but the little ridges that allow you to stack them for more spacing make them get caught on the edges of the floor if you are not careful. All in all this is a great buy if you are doing one room, but if you are doing a house you are going to need higher quality materials.

We used this kit to install 14 boxes of clip together laminate. There's no way we could have done the job without it. Get the kit (I think we paid [$]) and a cheap rubber mallet (we found one for $3 at a local hardware store) and you're all set. We didn't use the spacers all that much, but they were handy when we needed them. As for the wedge, it's incredibly durable. It started to chip a little toward the end, but I'm sure it would last through another 14 boxes. It would be nicer it it were a bit narrower so it could fit between pieces of laminate. Still, I was able to slide pieces in between each other by turning it so that I was hitting the corner instead of the edge and that worked fine. The pry bar was also durable and handy. However, one lip was shorter than the other and consequently, it only overlapped the top part of the laminate and chipped a few pieces. Also, the padding on the pry bar was not substantial enough. After a few hits, it would leave a line on the surface of the laminate. Just put a rag underneath the bar when you're hitting it and you should be fine. Overall, it was definitely worth the investment.

We are very happy with the Brazilian Koa. Like everyone states the installation goes quickly once you get the hang of it. We would not recommend the installation kit because the pulling bar broke on us the first day. There is a heavier duty one available at[...]. We also thought we could take back a completely unopened box, but not such the case. We had to exchange it for stuff we really didn't want. This is my first experience with Laminate and there are wider spaces between planks which might be harder to keep clean. There are also some repeater patterns so be careful. There were three different lengths and it is best to alternate.

When installing a floating floor, The Kit is necessary. Installation can not be done without it. The spacers are optional, but the pulling bar is absolutely necessary. The block has just the right contour for the flooring, so the edges don't get damaged. Using a make shift block would damage the flooring.

I guess what do you expect for [$] My total flooring was approx 725 sq ft. The pull bar was pretty much toast a little better than halfway through. The "bang'n" end went from a 90degree to about a 12 before I quit using it. I also put a piece of tape in the "hook" end to keep from chipping the finish of the laminate as well as taped the bottom since the feet didn't last to long. The tapping block held up for the most part but was looking pretty ragged by the end.I would suggest if you are doing a decent amount of installation to go to [@] and get their pull bar. It was a heavier piece as well as had a much wider hook to spread the force across the plank v. an inch wide strip.

The installation kit I purchased came in handy. It was great up untill I had a narrow piece of laminate to install. I had to make a small custom block so I could knock it in with out damaging the side.
I recommend to include a smaller block in the kit.

Besides the kit, the laminate itself was easy to install. I ended with just two peices of laminate left over. There were was just a few damaged pieces in my order, I was still able to use them.

We did over 500 sqft of laminate and its beautiful. Feels like you are walking on a cushiion. The one thing that is not great about the laminate is the warping from water damage.

We layed Dream Home Laminate in front of our front door in our family room. i thought it was too good to be true. the price was great and it would solve the dirty floor problem! we tried it, it was a snap to install, well let me just say it was ALOT cheaper then carpet and looks fantastic! everyone comments on how great it looks! we just love it and will use when we floor our new addition! i wish we would have done the whole family room in it instead of getting new carpet!

The kit is a must have for Laminate. I used the tapping bar, the z-bar pretty extensively. The spacers were used sparingly as they really didn't hold their place (maybe I was doing it wrong too).

This installation kit made the job go so much smoother. In one day, along with the help of two family members and a friend, I was able to lay about 750 sq ft of 8mm Sacramento Pine Laminate Flooring. We are all casual do-it-yourselfers, but have very little to no experience with laminate flooring. Everyone that has looked at my new floor says that it looks really nice. The only bad thing I can say about the installation kit is that the metal pulling bar was bent somewhat by the end of the day. Once the bar became bent, it was wanting to drive downward instead horizontally. Overall, our project could not have been completed in this short amount of time if it were not for the installation kit. If I had purchased two, we would have finished even quicker!

The pull bar and "tapper block" are must have items for installing laminate floor. The spacers leave a little to be desired- they can get stuck and break somewhat easily. We ended up making our own out of scrap wood.

the kit you buy the hammer bar should be a little stronger after a while it starts to bend i found it hard to bend back really made the last part of the job hard two or three hits it would bend then have to stop and bend it back and i wasnt hitting it very hard to bend

We got so much red dirt behind the carpet that it filled a half a trash bag no wonder we had allergies.I don't have a picture before but I am attaching a picture after. Must use the tapping block and pull bar separately. The tapping block must be used right side up or you're likely to damage the flooring.

Occationally, the bar pull would chip the lamintate product. However, this just provided us with plenty of pieces for cutting. I was very pleasantly surprised with the durability of the block and bar. They withstood repeated heavy blow after blow with our hammer and never failed, never cracked and never bent.

Being 86 years old, my wife was reluctant to allow me to lay the floor. I insisted that the job would be an interesting challenge for our pre-teen grand children since they were both skilled at LEGO and there was nothing more to installing the laminant than just adding one strip to the another and snapping the added piece in place. The job certainly took me longer than a professional would have taken and one part of the job I was forced to turn over to my son. That was carrying each of the 13 packages of ROSEWOOD laminant up 3 flights of stairs to the efficency apartment where it was to be installed. One item that I needed that was not included in the package was a flexable quarter round strip to fit around the 5" radius end on the bottom stair step. Once located I was proud of the installation and it appearance. An installer at LUMBER LIQUIDATORS was available to give me guidance over the phone when a question arose during installation.

I needed everything this kit provided. The floor installation would have been so much more difficult without it. The spacers are essential for the floating aspect of the floor, and I would have wound up destroying the locking joints of the planks without the tap board (which has grooves that fit perfectly to them). I highly recommend this kit to anyone installing a floor. It's a small price to pay for what it provides.

This kit was really necessary to get a good tight fit with our laminate flooring. It was easy to use. THe only real downsides is pretty much what everyone else says...after a while the tapping block breaks down and once it does, it starts scraping up the edges of your wood and ruining them. We had to go buy another kit from our local store 3/4 of the way through our job.

I am installing 1000 sq ft of French Oak for my first project and in the first 100 ft I had bent the pull bar with a hammer. Save your money and go obtain better tools. Get a professional pull bar and a bag of spacers and a tapping block. You will have a durable set of tools. This will enhance your installation speed and reduce your frustration!

It was a great idea to package the necessary tools for installation together. I ended up purchasing more spaces and borrowing better quality of the same to work on the job. I would have been nice if the kit included the mallet that I had to go out and get at the hardware store after I was ready to begin. As to the spacers, I still don't know whether you put 2 together (they look like mini plastic shims)to make a perfect rectangle or if you use them as wedges and I don't know if I was suppose to use them in one direction or another but I managed to improvise and do it both ways! Solid products overall. Bar will last a lifetime, so will wedges although my little ones did think they were dominos and they ended up in the the toy box for a day. You couldn't lay your flooring down without it though.

I appreciated the easy installation for a "do-it-yourself" guy. The transformation in the home from concrete (under original carpet) to the laminate flooring was amazing! Use it anywhere that you do not want ceramic tile. No more carpet for me, ever!

The price and the small project size this was good. I had to add some extra felt to the bar so it would not scrach the floor again or damage the end of the laminate. If you are doing a larger project more then an hour of work then go to a home improvment store and spend [$] on a soild kit with a stronger bar and it is felted enough to not scrach the floor.

The install kit was not as helpful as I was hoping it would be. The tapping block was the only thing I found to be useful. The pull bar bent everytime I'd tap it trying to pull the pieces together. The bar actually scratched a couple pieces because it was bent. I would buy the block but not the bar if they were sold separately.

The puller bar needs to be thicker or have the strike plate "ribbed" diring the die stamping to prevent it from bending.
The spacers were useless. The wouldn't stay put so I used scrap laminent as spacers.
The tapping block worked well.

The kit was great. Made installation much easier and protected the edges from damage.

The pull bar flange was bent by the time my project was complete (only 150 sq.ft), but I made it work. I preferred this tool to the tapping block, but you have to be sure not to "over tap".

On a larger job, a second pull bar and more spacers would be nice. Maybe the manufacturer would consider a "supersize" offering. I'd buy two for a larger project.

The staff at Lumber Liquidators was extremely helpful and knowledable. I only wish I had more unfinished floors!

I found the floor relatively easy to install once I got started. It is important to have the first row securely braced with spacers so the floor installation maintains straight and true lines. I found that by the time I was completed with the floor it took 1/2 the time to get started and then it went very quickly as the process became routine.

The hammering block was helpful as was the bar that allowed you to pull the planks together at the edges. However, the bar bent easily after I hit it a few times with the hammer. I ended up screwing a piece of 2x3 on it to hit my hammer against…this helped a lot. And some duct tape on the bottom kept it from marring the floor. Even though I had to make a few of my own modifications to the pieces, I wouldn’t have been able to install my cork floor without this kit. I wish it came with spacers for the edge…

The kit was nice to have ready-packaged. However, the pulling bar broke within the first few placed sections! If you are not careful, it also will break/crack the finish on the ends of the laminate. We used a piece of old carpet to put under the pull bar at the ends. The floor looks great, and so far, 4 kids and 2 dogs have done no damage!!

I used this handy tool kit for a 6mm Sweedish Maple laminate flooring installation.

The pull bar and tapping block are very well made and extremely durable.
