3 of the 6 bags of this stuff that I purchased were wet. I am assuming that this is the fault of the local Pittsburgh store, but it backed up my installation while I opened them up to let them dry out. From what I did install, it seems to keep the wood floors quieter. Not sure if there is any insulating effect as the temperatures in the northeast are pretty average.

Seems to work well so far - just put it in 5 days ago. Easy to cut and install - we didn't tape in-between sheets. We nailed 3/4" hardwood over it. Floor seems quiet level over this stuff. Time will tell how it performs...

Good product; better than most other underlayment materials. However, this underlayment does not include tape, so you have to buy tape separately and the installation process takes a bit longer because of this.

This is a felt type product and would clumb and tear when cutting with a razor knife,at times. But good product to use.

I read a lot of information on Insulayment for a commercial project I was working on....it claimed to provide a great STC rating. I thought what better way to test it out than to install it in my own home. I was pleasantly surprised. It's very thin so a was a little weary but installed it under 5/8" Bamboo. It rolled out under the floor and I nailed it in right thru the Bamboo. It quiets the room, eliminated squeaks, and eliminated the noise on the lower levels (installed in a 2nd floor bedroom). Great product that I have already recommended to others and will have no hesitation using it in one of my commercial projects. And to top it all off....it's a Green Product.

Used this for Engineered Hand Scraped "Tobaco Road" installed onto slab on grade. It's a give the floor is going to have a dead, hollow sound when installed on 4" of concrete but this pad certainly makes that noise much less noticeable. Rolls out quick and glue tacks well. The added benefit is that your small imperfection in the floor won't bother you as much with the bad.

I used this product throughout my home. I have a 3-family house & have used it throughout. It was very EZ to install & out of all the other underlayments was my #1 choice by comparison. Its thicker,deadens the sound & holds the heat more than others that Ive found. Ive tried Rosin paper. No comparison & will always use this material.If your only going to lay flooring done once trust my comments. You will not regret it!

I needed a sound barrier and an underlayment to smooth over my poorly constructed upstairs bathroom floor. Builders just don't care about quality when they know that they will be covering up their sloppy mistakes with carpet.

This product let me cover up their mistakes, get a level floor and kill the creaking board noise.

We used this under bamboo flooring and it worked out great. Only problem was that we didn't use a LL installer, so our installer wasn't familiar with using such a product under hardwoods. Glad we did though-our floors are warm and so quiet to walk on.

This product is amazing. I did not know about this product. It does reduce the noise level. Wish that it could be a little thinner but with the same quality. I used red resin paper on one room and this product in another room and the floors were uneven because of the thickness. I would install only this product the next time.

Home has crawl space and the floor had vinyl tile that was VERY cold in the winter. With this product under the wood laminate floor, this should improve the comfort in the winter. Like the way in deadens the sound of the wood laminate floors. Since the home was built in the 30's, the floor wasn't exactly level, but the laminate clicked together very well laying on top of this under layment. Was very surprised.

Cuts with regular scissors - a huge plus! Easy to roll out and fix into place. Remains flat which makes situating the flooring very easy. We plan to use it underneath hardibacker when we install slate in our dining room later this year because it is such a great insulator and noise reducer.

I'm hoping this product will help with the temperature of the floor in the winter time. My house is on a concrete slab and bought this product hoping it will help the floors from being so cold. I'll have to wait about 5 months to be able to tell since it was installed in late spring. It does help with the "clicking" noise most laminate floors have.

We are now installing it. We bought it when we purchased the wood and let the wood sit in the house for a few weeks to let it "acclimate". The installation has been easy and I look forward to seeing (hearing) if it makes a difference. It is easy to install... easy to cut and lay out. That said, I believe that with laminate floors it is likely a better bet since they are so noisy. We are putting 3/4" hardwood down in our bedroom so we wanted to make sure we minimized noise.

I am a professional hardwood floor installer for 30 years. I got about 1,000 sq/ft of the Insulayment. I used it for a nail-down hardwood floor remodel in the entire downstairs of my own house. I'm really impressed. It was easy to lay down. I used a red construction crayon to mark the floor joists and that was easy to see. Just make sure all of the floor is covered to keep all of the wood level. It gives the whole house a feel of "mass" when you walk on it, and makes it sound like a heavy construction home. The sound is very reduced in the basement when someone walks overhead. My only concern is that it is hard for me to hear where my kids are in the house now. I like this product a lot, and will recommend it to my clients from here on. It gets rid of the "echo" of hardwood floors.

We used this underlayment on an older floor with some inperfections. We installed 3 1/4 wide natural oak in the bedrooms. After owner looked at how nice it was had us do the rest of the house. The underlayment deadens the sound and stops most squeeks. I will use this over 15# felt from now on.

My contractor actually laid the laminate flooring for me, but they really bragged about this padding. It's a great noise reducer and brings a little "spring action" to the floor. I went with a cheap grade of laminate ($0.69/sq.ft. -- 6mm thickness) so I chose the better padding. Well worth it.

We laid a engineered floor on top of the insulayment. The flooring (Virginia Plank) turned out super and the flooing is quiet and warm. I would recommend this with a vapor barrier below the insulayment. We are very pleased with the flooring and the related products.

This is pretty cool stuff! It's a green product as about 90% recycled. My carpenter has been in the business for 30 years and said he has never put down a floor that was as quiet. How it holds up in the long run remains to be seen but it is easy to work with, and clean to install. If it doesnt hold odors or moisture, it's definitely a home run for floor installs.

Terrific product. I elected to use the product for two reasons - quiet floor and gain some needed thickness to match tile already installed. In both cases, the product worked extremely well. One thing I would say is the product is difficult to cut with straight edge - unless it's really sharp. I used fabric cutter to cut materials. Worked like a charm.

Connecting the flooring to existing hardwood that does not have padding will be difficult if you take the padding to the edge. There is approximately a 1/8” difference. I noticed it smoothes out the subflooring where nail holes were present. I cannot hear foot traffic from downstairs. I also found you can use the scrap padding to slide furniture into place without scratching the floor. Make sure you use the soft side! There is a value to the Insulayment.

With a new addition attached to existing hardwood flooring, this product helped even out the transition and our new build is elevated - so the new flooring is over air space. This helps keep the new addition warmer. Also, we used this for better soundproofing between bedrooms and a lower level rec room. It helps.

Having this product added and installed under my hardwood floors was the best decision I have made. It really does make a difference. It reduced the noise in my master bedroom by 1/2. I was amazed at before when you were in my lving room you could here someone walking upstairs in my bedroom. Now the noise is minimal. This insulyament was the best investment I have evermade.
