Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

being new to the whole wood floor thing i think fear drove me to buy the quite walk. I laid down a floating wood floor with brazlian koa flooring. The padding was very easy to roll, just wish it came in smaller sections ( i needed about 150 sq feet but had to but 200 sq feet the way the prodict comes). The floor sqeakes a little bit with the quite walk but i dont think it would make that big of a diffrence if it was not there at all. The 1 thing I do like is that it insulates under the floor a bit. Overall i am up in the air if I would buy it again. For [$] bucks ( 2 rolls ) I wish I got more bang for my buck.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

I put in the Dali Lisbon cork with this product under it. It squeaks/crackles in certain areas when you walk on it. The helpful folks at Lumber Liquidators thought the noise would go away in a couple of weeks but it hasn't. The floor has been in over a month now. I believe I have narrowed the noise down to where the seams of the underlayment are. When I installed the underlayement I followed their instructions which were to tape the seams with duct tape. Unfortunately I think that is where the noise is coming from. It definitely happens when I step down on the floor and is a distinct crackle/squeak. It doesn't happen at every seam but unfortunately there is a "noisy" seam right in the main walkway. Highly annoying. I did use two different kinds of duct tape, one was more of a shiny finish and one more textured. Unfortunately I can't tell you which one if it is only one of them from which the noise is produced.
Otherwise the product was very easy to use and seems to add a nice cushion to the floor.
Consider checking with the company if they recommend a particular type of duct tape or another way method of attaching the seams so you don't get this noise. It currently distracts from the beautiful floor, though I imagine I'll get use to it.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

i used in a closet under engineered floor so sound reduction quality was limited (small space with close walls, about 100 sq ft. Not sure that this is the best pad for sound reduction but just ask your salesman. It was kind of difficult to cut and tape seems b/c eventually its all one piece and any slight movement effects all sides. ie you move a little to left on pad and now its too close on one wall and too far on another). these are small inconveniences to be aware of. Seems like a good quality product. FYI This was my first install so i dont have anything to compare it to, good or bad.

Installed under "Click" type bamboo flooring over concrete slab floor. Following instructions, the installation was easy. Cuts best with a heavy pair of scissors. My husband & I have installed Laminate and Hardwood
floors in 3 different homes we have lived in CA,Mi,&FL. The price is great as is the product. Very versatile and easily laid. The floors are much
more comfortable to walk on and very quiet than floors that have no padding with vapor barrier. The vapor barrier is very much needed in Florida to have the wood floors stay beautiful for a long time.

My first floor installation application used the typical recommended rosin paper and the floor developed squeaks. I since have used "quiet walk" on the remainder of some 1500 sq/ft of Brazilian cherry flooring and have not had a single squeak anywhere. The overall feel is superior and I highly recommend anyone entertaining installing hardwood flooring budget this into your project.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

I have used the big box stores' high-end underlayment which was all plastic composition. This brand has a plastic vapor barrier and a felt-like cushion to reduce noise. I installed this underlayment with quick clic flooring and am happy with the noise reduction (not elimination, though, if that's what you're expecting.)
Out of curiosity, I tried to burn a piece and it smoldered and went out right away.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

I wanted to go with an underlayment with a moisture barrier and this works great. It was extremely easy to install and to make necessary cuts, just make sure you keep using a fresh blade on the knife. I have to say, it still gives a hollow sound or an echo, but not too bad. If you are wanting a less sound, I would probably recommend corkboard. Overall, very happy.

Poor heat insulator, good for sound

Pros:

Cons:
No Heat Insulation
Best Uses:
Hardwood Floors
Describe Yourself:
Avid Do-It-Yourselfer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

We used this under our living room solid wood installation hoping it would help retain heat since the salesman told us it would be good insulation-well it's not, the room is so much colder in the winter, I would have spent much more for better heat retention. It was difficult to cut, other than that, it does insulate noise, but that doesn't help the heat bill.

this product was very easy to install. I have several dogs which are in my house frequently, they are hardly heard running around on our new hardwood laminate flooring with this underlayment. Although I am not happy with the laminate flooring I purchased, I was very satisfied with the Quiet walk. It is very easy to cut and simply lay down. Had a few issues with taping pieces together, and had to re-do a few portions. Make sure you do not piece the quiet walk too close together when taping- by doing so, you create pockets and will have to cut it apart and trim it down.

The product seems like it serves the purpose, although we've yet to experience its power against moisture. We bought a lower priced laminate to install over it. I think it may feel better over a harder floor. It's a bit too soft for my taste, even though it's installed over cement.

Cleaning and dusting this floor is a breeze we have three cats so there is cat hair all over the place and with the rug we were constantly vacuuming the room, now we use a swiffer duster and a recommended
laminate floor cleaner and it works great.
If you don't keep it dusted and clean it will show dust and almost anything else, more then a rug would.(Which gives you an idea what was in you rug in the first place). We are very glad to have gone with the Laminate flooring.

THIS PRODUCT IS GREAT! WE HAVE BEEN INSTALLING LL HARDWOOD FLOORS IN OUR HOMES FOR MANY YEARS. BACK BEFORE THIS PRODUCT WAS AVAILABLE, WE WERE TOLD TO USE THE FOAM PRODUCT WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE SOUND INSULATION. WE INSTALLED THE FOAM UNDER 3/4" RED OAK FLOORING IN OUR DAUGHTER'S BEDROOM. LATER THE SAME YEAR, WE INSTALLED THE QUIET WALK IN OUR SON'S ROOM, UNDER THE SAME 3/4" RED OAK FLOORING, AND THE QUIET WALK WAS TOTALLY SUPERIOR TO THE FOAM PRODUCT FOR SOUND INSULATION FROM THE TV ROOM BELOW, AND FOR SOUNDS FROM THE BEDROOMS!! I HAVE USED THIS PRODUCT IN MANY ROOMS SINCE THEN, AND IT ALSO INSULATES SOUND FROM SHOES, HIGH HEELS, ETC., AND ELIMINATES THE "BOWLING ALLEY" ECHO!! THANK YOU QUIET WALK!!

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

When needed it is very easy to accurately score straight lines and curves into the moisture proof side to use as guides when needing to cut pieces or strips of this product into specific shapes or lengths, and then use a scissor to cleanly cut though the cloth backing.

We have found it to be a very good product to use as carpet pads. Our Quiet walk rug pads do not creep out from under the carpet pieces. Such padding even stays hidden under smaller type area rugs. Only problem I have found is that the cloth backing, when this product is used under the smaller sized area rugs, does not prevent such rugs from sliding. It is nice, though, that the product when cut and taped into the shape of an effective carpet pad does not move or slip specifically, when people walk on my 4x5 feet and larger room sized wool rugs. So over all, I am very pleased with how effectively this product stays in place, when used as pads under my larger carpets.

We also installed quietwalk in three rooms and a Hallway where we had first installed a thin-ply moisture resistant wood underlayment that had been nailed on top of a solid wood subfloor. On top of that quiet walk we then had installed 5/16th inch thick, 2 1/2 inch wide slats of prefinished Brazilian walnut flooring. this installation of quietwalk has assisted our prefinished flooring to appear more level and has proven to us the product's claim that it provides for quiet walking over our wood floors. We are also very happy to know that this product's moisture proof layer has proven effective for us. it has proven effective to help prevent humidity and any potential chemical or organic vapors occuring in the living area from being absorbed down into the quietwalk underlayment. It also has proven for us that it helps prevent such offensive types of aspects from permeating up from the home's crawl space into the living area.

I wasn't going to purchase this product, but when LL beat the price of a similar product at another local store, I took their offer.

I haven't systematically checked the noise absorption claim but it seems to provide a dampening effect for heavy walkers. Our dog's nails still sound like a tap dancer, but that's not the pad's fault.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

We sprung for the pricier underlayment to ensure the upstairs wouldnt be bothered by the downstairs living rooms noise and it was worth it. Very easy to roll out and just need to cut. Make sure your knife is VERY sharp to get the clean lines that are easy to tape together with duct tape.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

Worked as advertised thus far. Our traffic on this floor is in the "occasional" range, so it will take several months to get a good evaluation as to whether it breaks down over time.
Glad it was engineered with recycled materials. PPE plastics would also benefit your mix - no other use for old water bottles!

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

Anybody can put this in their house! Having never installed quick lock flooring before, my husband and I decided to do it ourselves. We needed the quiet walk underlay because the room we were putting wood floors in was partially below grade and was concrete. It is a 350 sq. ft family room and we were able to finish all the flooring in 1 day. The underlay rolls right out, and flats pretty quickly. We used duct tape to keep each piece rolled out together. The wood flooring can immediately be put down on top of the underlay. The underlay really makes a difference in the room. The wood floors feel like they are padded, and the the room doesn't echo at all.

The ease of one step installation compared to placing a vapor barrier then the pad and the benefits of use are well worth the minimal cost for such an outstanding product. Even though my comments are based on first time use and short amount of time installed compared to other products I have used in the past I can forsee no problems ever arising.

Service & Delivery comments:

I wanted to attach a picture of the room. Still need to paint, however I was able to complete the floor in a day and did the trim the next.

I wanted to say thank you to your Richmond store staff. It is sometimes very difficult to make the final decision especially on something so permanent. Your staff was very patient and helpful when making the final cut on the floor.

With two dogs I am glad that we installed the quiet underlayment. It does help deaden the sound.

All in all I would do it again and definitely return to your store for my next purchase.
