My husband, his father, and a friend laid this flooring in 2 days. They all commented on how hard the bamboo was and so did make for some difficulty in cutting, but other than that, they had no problems at all installing it. The finished product is gorgeous!! We have 4 large dogs (3 Labs and 1 Golden Retriever) so thats why we chose the Tiger Strand Bamboo because we read how hard and durable it is. So far I have been very pleased with its durability! It is easy to clean, just use a microfiber mop pad that can be washed and just BARELY get it wet...I have learned that if it has too much water on the mop and you don't get it dryed up, the water will leave a film. So it doesn't take much to clean these floors!
A side note on the tools used for installation... the instructions recommended using an 18 gauge gun and 1 to 1 1/2 inch nails. Well we live in western KS and we could not find an 18 gauge gun ANYWHERE in our vicinity to rent. So we rented a 16 gauge nailer and used 2 inch nails. That worked perfectly!
Overall, if you are thinking about this floor but are a little scared because of the uniqueness of the pattern, DO IT!!!! It is definitely a one of a kind floor and you will not be disappointed!

I was very nervous to use the Tiger Strand because it is very bold and it's hard to tell what it looks like with a small sample. However, a friend who is an interior decorator assured me it would look perfect and she was right. Wow!!! This really makes a statement. We used it on our stairs and landings. We have oak floors in the main room and were not able to match it exactly, so decided to contrast instead and it looks beautiful. It is busy, though, so I wouldn't recommend it in a room with a lot of furniture or crazy colors. t did not install myself. Hired someone to do it. I also recommend using the treads and risers on the stairs instead of the wood pieces. It looks more uniform. For some reason, the treads and risers are not listed on the website, but the manufacturer does make them. You just need a good salesman to put the right info into the computer to find them.

We did not DIY this floor. We had professionals from JJ Flooring do the install and they did a precision job. Excellent results. The floor is extremely nice to walk on with bare feet!!

Had tremendous difficultly with the constantly cracking tongue of the product. I adjusted and adjusted the psi on my compressor in hopes to find that sweet spot but the product kept cracking. Although the floor was beautiful when I was finished, the overall ease in the installation is not for an inpatient or easily aggravated person.

I just finished installing this product 2 days ago and I love it. All boards were cookie cutter perfect (no warps, bends, cracks) and super hard. Use a properly sized air compressor to do the job. During the process, I have moved refrigerators, stoves, pianos, couches and numerous boxes around and have not seen it scratch.

I love Bamboo and wanted to put natural bamboo in four adjoining rooms. After laying it in one room we decided it was entirely to soft. Our 70-80 lb. boxers couldn't walk across it without it scratching. In looking for something stronger we came across the strand bamboo. The color blended well with what we had already laid in an adjoining room and it's tough as nails. It is beautiful, strong and exotic looking. Love it!

This was our first attempt at installing a floor and it turned out beautiful! It took us less than 3 days to finish our floor and would have taken even less time if we'd known what we were doing at the beginning. We plan to use this flooring again for another room in the near future.

Was taken by surprise on how easily this floor scratched. It scratched even before we were finished. Moving furniture which I had covered the legs, etc., to protect the floor,scratched the floor. Even the TV trays scratch the floor.

This is the second time we had this installed, we finished the rest of the house we liked it so much in our living area. It holds up to everything three kids, two dogs and three cats can toss at it! If you are looking for durable and still great looking this is it.

Installed two years ago throughout house including stairs. I do large dog rescue so I have different foster dogs every other week or so. Even though they slip and slide, I can't find a single scratch from them after two years. Boards are quite hard so it was a challenge for installation but short term pain. The pattern is a bit scary in the store because it's so different/unique but take the risk--it's well worth it as it looks striking and amazing in the house!

Bought the flooring in February 2010, but didn't install until December. Well worth the wait. The flooring is beautiful and durable. There was virtually no waste, so the excess we bought will be used for a countertop and other small projects. Would buy it again in a heart beat.

We put this in 3/4 of our home and it looks beautiful, especially the staircase. Very attractive and stunning wood. Also very durable. The only downside is installation. Because it is so durable, a pneumatic nailer is needed with a pretty high psi to get the nails in. Other than that, would highly recommend this flooring.

I used this flooring to make a workbench. I realize that this is not the normal use for this product, and according to the maker, would be considered "experimental." That said this made the most beautiful and functional workbench I have ever owned. I have had dozens of people stop by to take pictures of it. The look of this flooring will always be a conversation starter.

I can't scratch or stain it no matter how hard I try. I set an oily old engine block on it that I worked on for a month, when I was done I wiped off the oil with a paper towel, none left behind, no scratches, amazing!

I am picking up another box this weekend to make a splash guard around the bench!

18 Gauge power nailer (we used a Powernail 50P) works great, don't cheap out on it. Face nailing and hand blind nailing requires pre-drilling, and counter sinking is necessary to avoid cratering and just plin stubborn nail setting (3/32 drill and 1/8" countersink works well for 6D nails). A sharp 80 tooth or higher saw blade is necessary to get a clean enough cut without splintering for any cut ends that will be visible.Handle this stuff with gloves, or try and never run your hands along the tongue, as the splinters you get are downright awful. Be careful pulling the boards apart before lifting a piece out or you can crack the groove at the end.We had almost zero defects, just a couple funky end tongues out of a 1000 sqft, and neither resulted in any wastage. We also learned quick to keep lots of boxes open, as there is a very wide variation in the colors and pattern from box to box (i.e. some wild boards, some boring boards), so it is necessary to really lots of boxes open to keep from getting goofy looking regions that stick out from the rest of the room.Order your trim early, and don't start installing till you get it in hand[...]We also scrounged up some flush mount vents, but they were thinner and didn't have compatible groove dimensions. Very careful fitting, then using adhesive installation of the vents makes for a phenomenal finished look

We have installed this in a bathroom, office, and laundry room. We were slightly concerned with how it would look transitioning from our solid red oak floors that are 25 years old to the bamboo.....wow is all I can say. We cannot wait to change out all of our oak floors now. But, for the time being, it really is a beautiful flow that makes an amazing statement! I want everyone to enter through the laundry room now! Comments from friends and family have been an astounding "OH MY GOSH! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!" We could not be happier with this product! My neighbor and I put this tiger strand down in my bedroom. It is GORGEOUS! The floor is so unique and when shown gets so many compliments. I think it's perfect for a bedroom, brings something exotic into the room. You will not be disappointed. The only semi-pain thing to deal with is cutting the boards to get them to line up right. If your thinking about it , buy it!

The floor installer said he is really a "true wood" kind of guy, but definitely would choose this product again. It's very durable and good to use in our office. Easy to install. Wonderful, durable finish. Good quality. He laid the bamboo in a herringbone pattern in the hallway. Turned out great!

Very durable flooring that should last for a very long time. I paid to have it installed so I can't really comment on the installation. Dogs nails don't harm it one bit. Have yet to see a scratch in it anywhere. I highly recommend this flooring!!

This floor is truly striking; nearly every guest in our house raves about it. We installed it in 1000 sq ft -- our entire first floor (excluding the powder room.) Because of the tone-on-tone look, it works in the kitchen with birch cabinets (light color)from [...], as well as in the family room with dark-finished book cases. It ties together the two spaces in our open floor nicely. We saw dimpling from nails only when the nails were too close to the surface; when installed properly it looks great. It is a very hard product, and the small planks take some time to install, but it is certainly worth the effort.

The glue down process was absolute torture. The product is good, but never try to glue this stuff down. It has a mind of it's own with the slipping and sliding, Glue gets on everything no matter how tidy you are. The joings won't stay together and they want to buckle. Nail it down, or don't mess with it. Other than that, the wood looks good.

We're having bamboo professionally installed in our home (2200 sqft). Dark Silk Road in the Master, Horizontal Natural in the other bedrooms and the Tiger Strand in the high traffic areas downstairs. It's all beautiful and easy to maintain so far. However, in the Tiger Strand we can see 'dimples' on the surface of the boards for each nail. This is visible primarily in high light conditions, the sun streaming through, or looking at the floor at an angle. Our installer has not seen this before and has previously installed strand but not this brand. Does anyone else have this and how did you take care of this? Any help would be greatly appreciated as we are on hold to installing anymore Tiger Strand. rubberzombee at yahoo dot com

The product looks great and was a piece of cake to install. However, it doesn't take much to scratch it. We'll see how well the finish holds up over time. These are my first hard wood floors so i really can't compare them to anything. Super hard and watch out for the slivers when you handle the boards.

This flooring went into my master suite and it is BEAUTIFUL! It will complement any furniture except cherry or mahogany as there is no hint of red in the floor tones.

This material is EXTREMELY hard and I expect it to last a very long time. I noted 'difficult to install' because it is so hard. We had no problems nailing planks with a pneumatic floor nailer, but the surface hand-nailing around the perimeter was, well, *challenging*. It's actually hard to hammer a nail through this stuff! For this reason I would not recommend anything but an air nailer for installation.

Waste was very low on this product- I ordered 15% over but only needed 5%. There wasn't a bad board in any of the boxes I opened.

For about the same price as premium hardwood, you can make your floor into a beautiful conversation piece instead of something that just sits there.

This flooring is spectacular. I have gotten so many comments about this floor. I also put in another floor which is not bamboo in my house right before I had put in this beautiful floor. Looks incredible. First time I've done wood flooring and the product looks absolutely professional. Quality of product is great. Almost no waste. Lumber was 100% straight, no warped pieces. This stuff is hard....much harder than oak or maple. Went with nailed down application with pneumatic assist floor nailer. No split tongues on nailing. My only concern is my wife likes it so much she is looking at putting it down in other rooms!!!

I used this bamboo flooring along with a natual and sambuca color to highlight around my fireplace and interspaced the three colors through out to add some character. It came out awesome and everyone who sees it comments on the creative use of the three colors of bamboo.

The bamboo does seem to dent easily but perhaps this happens with all wood flooring. The dents are worrisome and a disappointment but hopefully as time goes on I will not notice them so much (the floor has only been down three weeks so I am hypervigilant about scratches and dents right now).

Over all I love the bamboo and hope I will continue to feel this way

This flooring is beautiful and very durable. We have two big dogs and I was worried about them scratching the finish. But, the floor is so hard and the finish is so strong that even their sharp claws haven't scratched it.

The finished look, color and patterns of the strand bamboo give the room a unique, tropical and warm feel.

My brother (previously a professional floor installer) installed this floor in our living room, kitchen and dining room. He said the milling is exclennt and there was very litle waste. He also like the hardness of the bamboo and the tough finish.

We are very happy with the product and the outcome.

Have only installed in bedrooms so far, intend to do all rooms, except baths and kitchens. The strand is much harder than the standard vertical or flat grains I have used elsewhere. Nails of 130-lb Choc Lab haven't scratched it yet!

I have installed non-engineered hardwood floors before. I used to work for my father's construction company. I found that the tiger strand bamboo flooring to be near perfect. One of the reasons this is a good choice is, there is no cull pieces, that is, no knots, splits, cracks or ugly boards. Also, the pieces are all the same length, so one can create a pattern in your installation.

I love this floor. It was tough to install because it splinters (bamboo).when cutting and worked better if you used masking tape over to cut. Also worked better with a nailer than floor staples. If using staples stay at least 4" from edge to avoid splitting of tongue. It hides dirt well and cleans like a charm. Sharp looking- artsy

We put this floor in our kitchen and a hall entryway adjoining the kitchen. People are going nuts for it! Its beautiful, undulating pattern is both organic and showy.

We have three dogs with four paws each of seriously burly nails and there is not a scratch in sight. They routinely chase eachother across it and wrestle all over it and it looks great! The worst they've done to it is drool on it and that cleans up easily with some vinegar and water. The only con is that it makes our other hardwood floors look pretty shabby in comparison...gotta get those refinished....

We had a contractor put it in and he said it was like any other hardwood floor for ease of installation. He loves it too!
