It looks great; but any little scratch shows up in this dark finish. I bought the carbonized, clear/natural finish (it did not say it was stained; but seems to be) thinking it would not show scratches as easily. That still may be the case on deep scratches; but surface scratches show quite easily...

This is a great product that is highly attractive and very durable. We have two dogs, one of which is a 90+ lb Lab and we have no scratches after one year. The only con is that it does show dust/dog hair, but the look of it outweighs the cons.

This flooring is very durable and looks great in any room. Wonderful color, however lacks the shine you would get from say the cherry woods. However, it's Eco friendly and will last a very long time.

the bamboo dark wood floor is attractive but impossible to keep clean. Any kind of liquid stain will take several attempts to remove. The floor also seems to scratch off easily. If something hits the floor, a piece of the wood will chip off. Having had hardwood floors for many years, I'm surprised and dissapointed with this product. I wish I had asked about stains and that I had been told about the stains issue. It appears that if liquid hits the floor, it gets under the top layer? I do not recommend this product.

We decided on this product over ceramic tile and wouldn't change that. It does scratch easier that I thought but that can be covered up - with ceramic tile, if it breaks, that can't be. We get alot of good comments on the floor.

We just had this installed in my living room/family room. It looks beautiful! I'm not used to seeing the dust and foot prints (it's winter) so now we have a no shoe rule. The swiffer is a new best friend. It's worth it... the floor is so pretty.

We didn't install the floors - but they look incredible!! We had a house fire - before the fire we had lamante flooring. What a huge difference!! The house looks incredible! If you like a deep reddish color this floor is perfect for you! The color is amazing and so rich!

Beautiful product - looks great. Wood is extremely dense and hard. Surface does show minor scratches, but can be touched up with a marker. Great performance on hardness and stability. Average amount of "rejects" in each box. Highly recommended!

I placed Qing Dragon in my living and dining rooms. The look is absolutely spectacular but you do have to felt-line all chair and sofa leg bottoms as this stuff can scratch easier than I expected. I love, LOVE these floors but yes, they show dirt. However, it forces you to keep things clean so thats not really a "con." Another positive is the peace of mind in knowing that you did NOT help destroy the rain forest with this purchase AND you paid a low price. I would recommend this floor to anyone who is looking for something uniquely beautiful.

It's more beautiful than the other Strand bamboo colors - has a personality of its own. Sometimes it looks like Cherry, other times like Mahogany. I loved my floor on sight, and my installer whistles at it every time he sees it. He's told his friends, and everyone he runs into about Strand Bamboo now. Complains about how tough it is, but in the same breath brags about how tough it is. I've taken a hammer to a sample and couldn't dent it.

I'm ecstatic that I found this floor before the rest of the world finds out about it, because the price will probably go up as it gains its reputation. It is green-eco-friendly, but looks like traditional hardwood. It's tough as nails, which is why I glued it down.

I'm in a hot climate (Florida) with concrete slab, was told I could glue this floor down. So far, so good. Like the fact that it's solild all the way through and future owners can refinish if they want to...although doubt that will happen, it's too pretty.

We decided to use the Morning Star Dragon bamboo on the first floor for approx. 1450 sqft. since we wanted a sleek, modern look that fits our contemporary house.
We have chosen bamboo because of environmental reasons/sustainability and this special kind because it did not show the typical bamboo knots, was not rustic, brownish or yellowish in color -actually it has a wood grain look and reminded us of cherry. Installation was done by professionals: it is hard and had to be nailed in with a special tool.
The results exceeded our expectations. It is a stunningly beautiful and sleek hardwood floor with a color that is dark reddish, with different darker and lighter reddish hues.
Even our contractors who installed it were impressed by the beauty of the wood, its hardness, and the overall elegant look.

It is a very hard floor but since it is one the dark side you can see scratches from sharp objects. So you have to be very careful during installation. You also have to consider that you can see dust and dirt easily because of its overall dark color.

after a substantial amount of research and practicing on test pieces. i opted for the T&G glue floating application. i found that nailing more often than not, split my batches and or had difficulty pushing a nail through this stuff. it is quite easily the hardest flooring available short of the stone family. floating takes about 5 times longer than nailing if you do it properly, you must ensure that the boards dont tilt horizontally as you strap them down and you must strap about every 15-20 boards laid for about 30 mins. and blue tape the seams tightly before removing straps. I used TBIII and worked carefully to apply just enough glue to the bottom corner of the groove to fill and adhere properly w/o squeeze out.
the finished product is more stunning than i could possibly imagine. the 9/16" gives a very solid feel while the color and marbling variation is simply stunning to look at.
roughly 800 square feet went down in about 40 hrs with my slow and tight float

I installed this floor myself and it was the first time I tackled a hardwood floor on my own. I have helped a friend in the past, but this floor went together much easier. I was worried about purchasing a floor holding up to my 105# lab and my 2 year old daughter, this is the one. So far there are zero scratches, dents, dings, etc in this floor and we are going on 2 months old. I know it is early, but I am very impressed with the strand bamboo vs the vertical or horizontal bamboo. If you get samples of each you will realize that the others are very easy to dent and scratch. One con to this floor was how easy the edge will splinter when you are installing. You really need to use caution to prevent damage to the edge when joining the seams. I give a lot of credit for my smooth install to the proper air nailer. I rented a powernail 50p from my local rental and it was great. This bamboo is so hard that a finish nailer will split the wood (when nailing through the top) but this flooring nailer attached each board without any splits or misfires. I give this flooring a 9 out of 10 and that is only because it does show dust/dirt because it is so dark. My wife says "well that is what would have been in our carpet", so she has no problems running the swiffer over it every few days. Buy with confidence if you are looking for a floor to hold up to large pets and their happy feet.
