Comments about Lisbon Cork Matisse Cork:

A perfect product for basement installation (~1400 sqft). I installed it about 10 months ago by myself. The only marks I can pick up is when we move the funiture to clean. Nice and warm under foot in the basement. Floating floor is over a vapor barrier. Kids (4) and dogs (2) play hard over the surface and we can't tell. Wish it was the same with the engineered oak upstairs. Would definately do this again and may do cork throughout the remaining bedrooms when we had enough of the builder grade carpet. Do use footpads! We didn't at first and should have right away. Cork does rebound over time, but not 100%. We found no need for the additional poly coats.

Not Easy to Install!
By A. finally downVerified Reviewer from Cheyenne, WY on 5/30/2011
Pros:
Attractive Finish
Cons:
Difficult To Install

Comments about Lisbon Cork Matisse Cork:

This is not a 1 person install job. When tapping the planks into place they have a tendency to shift. You need a weighty object or second person to hold the planks still while additional planks are tapped into place. Any gaps are almost impossible to disguise.

I bought this for use in a laundry room to muffle sound and absorb moisture. It has not done that. The product is fine, but my judgement as to where to use it was obviously wrong. The washer mars the flooring easily when it moves.

Comments about Lisbon Cork Matisse Cork:

easy to install, tight fit if care is taken. great warm feel to your feet. easy to cut and shape. due to the design of the cork, very hard to see scratches or dings which is very common with wood floors. We chose it for our new kitchen as we are the original owners of our home and after 35 years it was time to update our kitchen with a more modern flair and this fit the design bill perfect.

Comments about Lisbon Cork Matisse Cork:

My wife and I were looking to replace the upstairs carpet with something like hardwood. We decided on cork because it's soft and much quieter than hardwood and I couldn't convince the wife to get bamboo.
This product is quite soft. REALLY SOFT.
It comes in 3 foot by 1 foot tiles.
You must plan each room and transition in advance because each tile has all four sides finished in either tongue or groove. You learn quickly that you have no need for a tile with less than three sides still remaining on it (because you won't be able to attach it to any other tiles). So, that means cutting the tiles needs to be thought out in advance, as well. Even after tiling three rooms I still have to remind myself to NOT cut off the wrong end of a tile I am cutting down to length. Always cut the end off that you won't be needing.
Anyway, the instructions recommend to cut off the tongue or groove when it is going up against the wall. I would agree with that but I have also been too lazy to do it and wasn't worried because it was going to get covered up by baseboard moulding anyway.
Here is my most valuable advice: BE GENTLE. When you are tapping a tile into another one, stop when the gap disappears. This stuff is very soft and the seams can and will protrude up if they get squished together. Also, be careful with the tap tool and put your body weight down on it because if it slips up while you are hitting, you'll just tear the cork right off the base.
The look of this once it is installed is worth the headache and I would bet that many people will get frustrated in the beginning like I was, but practice and patience paid off big time.

Comments about Lisbon Cork Matisse Cork:

I like the green nature, the warmth underfoot, the cushioned feeling and the fact that it repairs itself to some extent if you scratch it or place something heavy on it. The depression will disappear. It's a good choice in rooms for young or old who might be unsteady on their feet.

Comments about Lisbon Cork Matisse Cork:

Easy enough if you've every installed laminate. If not the tap and click is not as simple as it looks and takes a while to get the hang of. Also don't get too aggressive or you'll damage the edges. Invest in one of those laminate installation kits and knee-pads. Looks great once it's done. I haven't decided if I'm going to coat it with poly as they recommend.

After a lot of research I chose cork flooring for my kitchen because I believed it would be durable enough. Unfortunately we had a bent foot on our stove that gouged it a few times on the way in. We'll keep it but not sure we would do it again. It feels great under foot.

I am happy with this flooring, it was easy to install and looks great. I am curious to see how it holds up through wear and tear. I put three coats of polyurithane sealer on it per the manufactures reccomendations. The dog has been running all over the flooring and the floor shows no scratches. You will need a tap block to get all the joints tight.

Comments about Lisbon Cork Matisse Cork:

Installed in upstairs family/kid room. Very easy install due to size of planks and attached underlay. Soft on bare feet and room below stays quiet. If trim pieces were available I'd likely do the staircase as well. Matisse design shows minimal seams; only when the sun hits it at certain angles.

Sealing as Recommended Caused Problems

Comments about Lisbon Cork Matisse Cork:

Although the floor looked terrific before I sealed it, once I sealed it with Bonakemi Traffic, as recommended, the seams of the floor became water-logged and rose up slightly. Whereas prior to sealing, the floor looked like one smooth piece of cork, after sealing, you can now see each individual plank and it doesn't look nearly as good.

Comments about Lisbon Cork Matisse Cork:

The large tiles (1 ft x 3 ft) made it seem like it would be a quick install, but the tongue and groove channels required a good bit of force and some finesse to lock together. Also, once a tile is cut to fit (you cut off the tongue or groove) and it becomes unusable again. But even with the difficult install, the finished product is beautiful, the seams disappeared and it is a seamless floor with character, warmth, and what we hope will be durability and longevity. After only two weeks, it is still easy to clean and maintain, but we would hesitate to recommend to others due to the headache-inducing installation.

Comments about Lisbon Cork Matisse Cork:

Easy to install. Trimming was simple. Product was relatively uniform in shade and really looks great.
Our only issue was when we sealed it with a Verethane Satin water based poly, the floor dried extremely slippery. Great appearance, but quite a surprise. Not sure how we will deal with this.
