QSRO2S - Quartersawn 3/4" x 2-1/4" Red Oak Unfinished SelectQuarter sawnTo make quarter sawn flooring, the log is first cut in quarters and then sawn perpendicular to the growth rings. This cut produces a floor with a tight vertical grain which looks good and is very stable. When quarter sawn flooring is introduced to changing humidity, wood expands and contracts vertically instead of horizontally. This characteristic makes quarter sawn flooring an ideal choice for installations over radiant heat. SelectSelect grade flooring will have the most uniform color with no knots, and the longest average length planks.

Comments about 3/4" x 2 1/4" Quartersawn Red Oak Flooring:

Remodel of 750 sf kitchen in 100+ yr home. Includes kitchen area with island, eating area, laundry, and 3 teenagers. All other house floors are original qtr-sawn red oak. This has a little less graining than original floors - but I love it! I had it professionally installed and they were amazed at the quality of the flooring.

Quarter sawn red oak has a interesting and unusual appearance after staining and urethaning that is not seen in plain sawn oak.
