Comments about Schön Quick Clic Engineered 7/16" x 5" Select Maple Quic Click Flooring:

Installed this product in our small kitchen, directly over vinyl using Quiet Walk underlayment in between. Once we got the line running the way we wanted, the installation flew. Less flexible than standard hardwood, because all four sides of each "board" must remain intact to maintain the integrity of the floor. I really wanted to avoid ripping out plywood and two layers of vinyl, but didn't. I wish I had since this flooring plus the underlayment added a half inch to the floor's height, making transitions from other rooms trickier than I expected. If I could do it again, I'd take the old stuff out first. You also need to leave a half inch gap between floor and any walls (cabinets, in my case), which meant I had to add new 1X4 kick boards under each cabinet to hide that gap and cover them with something. Finished product looks great, but the finish on the new floor does scratch and dent easily. Be prepared to live with that, or go for a harder floor.
