Comments about Schön Engineered 5/16" x 4" Brazilian Walnut Engineered:

This is a nice product and the sample at my local store was quite unattractive compared to the real product. I've put in about 700 square feet out of 1000. The wood is varied like a select grade of brazilian walnut. It does not have the variation being a veneer and I suppose some of the crazier looking pieces were discarded for a more consistent look. Many of the pieces have an amber/orange undertone that is very nice (range from darker pieces to lighter orangier looking ones.) Many variations including some brown pieces with an olive cast and some with an emerald look. Don't get too excited as it does not have the variation of solid brazilian walnut flooring. It may be even more select than select. What you get is a nice variation that should coordinate well, impress all, and offend none. Do not expect this wood to look like solid select. It will not have the true variations because of the veneering process using much less of the tree/trees. I've not seen other brazilian walnut flooring in person (select or otherwise, except at lumber liq. showroom) so I can't comment on which is better overall.
Now for the downside. If you drop objects with an edge, beer cans, screw drivers, etc. They will karate chop through the thin veneer into the softer lighter backing. This 5/16" has a very thin veneer so I don't think the engineering realizes all the advantages of the hardness of this wood. I'll be having to do touchup on this and not sure how I will hide these warts. Do not drop heavy/sharp things on this floor. It will tear into it. This would damage any floor. Here it is more pronounced when it buggeers the veneer to reveal the light backing.

I won't comment on installation since I am not a professional installer.

Comments about Schön Engineered 5/16" x 4" Brazilian Walnut Engineered:

We had the floor installed by Lumber Liquidators installation service. They did an excellent job.The floor was put down over concrete, so they used the Moisture barrier and then glue. I have nothing bad to say about the product. There where a few bad pieces, but that is to be expected. The T-Molding didn't match to well, so I returned it and I'm waiting to see what comes in this time.

Comments about Schön Engineered 5/16" x 4" Brazilian Walnut Engineered:

We are so pleased with this flooring. We wanted to do it ourselves to save some money and I am SO glad we did. We appreciate it more knowing we did it and didnt pay someone to do it. To those thinking of doing it yourself. The prep work of the slab was harder than the actual install. Laying the floor was so easy, but just tidious. We installed it in our living room, dining room, hallway and family room. It turned out so beautiful and coordinates with each room so well. We could not be happier. The best part is that we have enough left over to do our office, but we are taking a little break before we start that project. :)

Service & Delivery comments:
