Virginia Mill Works Co.- 1/2" x 5" St. JohnsPlank Prefinished Handscraped Engineered Flooring- 30 Year WarrantyHandcrafted plank by plank, the French bleed is done the traditional way by rubbing the stain on the plank edge. A beautiful look reproducing the working technique of the craftsmen of bygone times. Colonial American homes were built with wooden floors that were sawn using basic hand-held tools. The hand-crafted workmanship that went into those floors can be found in Virginia Millworks handscraped floors.Natural knots of up to 2" thick may be present giving this floor its beautiful and unique character.About Handscraped Flooring:Handscraped or distressed hardwood floors have a natural worn appearance. They look like floors from the days when floors were finished by hand.About Engineered:Hardwood veneer layers are stacked on one another, with the grain of the adjacent layers oriented perpendicular to each other.Because wood expands and contracts in the direction of the grain, one layer stabilizes the next, resulting in a product that is less susceptible to the effects of moisture & temperature change.Don't forget the molding and stair treads!Click here to find our extensive selection of moldings & accessories for you to match wood species to your new floor.(Who else can do that?)Lumber Liquidators... Comments about Virginia Mill Works 1/2" x 5" St. Johns Plank Handscraped:

I installed this floor in a lightly used spare bedroom. High traffic areas may be a problem due to heal marks. I find water base finishes are proned to heal marks. This floor may have a water base finish.

[...] The flooring is lovely. I was nervous about buying it on account I have a large german shepard and was afraid that her nails would ruin the floor; not at all... the dog runs around like a wild animal and no scratches!!

Comments about Virginia Mill Works 1/2" x 5" St. Johns Plank Handscraped:

We purchased the engineered 1/2" x 5" St. John's plank in 12/07 from the Plano TX store, had it professionally installed in our "great room" which has plenty of light from several windows and three sky lights. The rich dark color with its slight grainy variations and the distressed look are stunning in a bright room.

The installers had no problems working with the flooring and commented about the quality of the product and how well the seams fit together.

We've only had one issue and it is related to our young kids (2 and 4 years old) horsing around with a cardboard box; apparently after a few days of plaing in the box and dragging it around the room there have been some light scratching to the finish but no dents from toys or heavier objects being dropped.

We plan on purchasing more for an adjacent formal living room, very happy with this flooring.
