We had someone install our flooring but it turned out really nice. Didn't want to spend a lot of money due to our home resale value was already maxed for our area. We had to gut our home due to Hurricane Katrina and wanted something durable since we have dogs. Flooring has stood up to the dogs and doens't have any scratches after 5 years. The pictures are after the install but floors still look the same just don't have as much luster.

My husband and I installed about 600 sf over a long weekend. We had never installed laminate flooring before but have successfully done other home improvement projects in the past. There were very few damaged pieces and very little damage during installation. Any scratches found after installation were easily covered with a marker. We like the smaller pieces, beveled edges, and texture because the flooring looks less fake. The color is pretty, but (as with any dark color) is shows dust and crumbs and will need daily sweeping (particularlly in the dining room). I recommend the installation kit for the block and pull bar, but we didn't use the spacers. A chop saw is also necessary and if you don't have one you should rent or borrow one. You'll need it for the trim (in our case quarter round) too. A table saw is really nice for cutting pieces the long way and we actually drove to a friends house to cut a few pieces because we don't have one. We bought felt pieces for the bottom of the furniture at a local store to avoid scratching the floor. We've only had it installed for a couple of weeks so I can't comment on durability. However, it seems that if we use our common sense it will hold up well.

Slow to install but well worth the time, helpful hint build row on top of last roll and install as one piece that way you dont knock your end lock off. Love the random length and narrow width, many positive comment on appearance. The guy at the Maplewood ,MN were great to work with. At this time I only gave it a 4 star rating because it has only been down for 2 months and am waiting on durability.

We installed this flooring in our new home about 3 years ago. We installed it in all common rooms (we did not install it inour 4 bedrooms or stairs only due to budget constraints). We love it. We have had no issues with it whatsoever. At our last house, we installed the wide laminate flooring and had lots of chipping and scratching issues and also had trouble with it being too slick. None of those issues have occurred with this flooring. Also, a large part of why why love the flooring so much is that you really can not tell that it isn't real hardwood. Especially since the wood planks are thin as if they were real wood. I have had so many compliments and even people who said "I saw your flooring and wanted to copy it and that's why we got the flooring we got." The carpet is now wearing out in the bedrooms (it was a new house and we got the cheapo carpet that comes with the price, knowing that we would be replacing it) and we have decided that since Lumber Liqidators still has the same flooring, we are going to start replacing it bedroom by bedroom as budget allows. Our room will be done soon and I CAN'T WAIT. Great stuff for the price. Of course if budget allowed I would have real wood, but this stuff is as close as it gets. No complaints, very satisfied.

My mother and I installed this product in my 7 yr old sons room. I called lumber liq. help line and got all the tricks I needed to complete these floors. #1 remove the baseboard molding. I was afraid to do this but it is a must #2 when clicking in the second and rest of the rows use a third piece to keep the joints together when hammering so it stays in line and will connect smoothly. #3invest in a good pull bar don't use the one that comes with the kits, by the time I was done with the floor, the lip was flat and was a real pain to finish the last pieces. Also, a rubber mallet,too noisy with a regular hammer. #4 dont' start left to right as the instructions tell you, start with the molding under the closet doors. There was going to be no way it would have connected if that was the last row.

All in all it was just a good experience and am ready to take on 5 other rooms. Installing it yourself really saves a lot of money. I highly recommend this floor. It looks really nice. I would be hesitant to install it in a main room of a house, in larger rooms it will look fake, but in a small bedroom, or office it is the perfect product.

Installed in the main living area and although time consuming to do it right, quite simple. The only con is that there is a hollow sound when walking on it, so you can tell it's not solid hardwood. But for a durable look-a-like, this is perfect.

We installed about 1,000 Sq ft. of this flooring in our home. We decided on this material based on all of the good reviews and the recommendation from the Lumber Liquidator's staff. My wife and I installed the floor on our own, while very time consuming it was not very difficult to install (a miter saw and a table saw helped a lot). If your decently handy and have patience this floor should be an easy install. The floors look great, and make the house look much better. The only issue we have found is that it chips VERY easily. [...] I think if anything that has sharp edges or weight drops on the floor it will chip. Im afraid to drop my keys on it. I guess we will see as time goes on if this becomes a bigger problem. Also plan on dusting the floor a few times a week if you dont like dust.

The color is very beautiful. Holds up well to dogs running on it. I accidentally dropped a phillips screwdriver, from approx three feet, on the floor and the tip damaged the top layer requiring wood putty and stain to fix. Not sure if that is common or if other brands would hold up to that. I recommend having this professionally installed due to the tongue and groove system of this product. It is not the same as installing laminate from a Home Improvement store.

It was very hard to start. But it got a lot easier after 3-4 rows. You definitely need someone else with you to help snap them together. Doing it by yourself would drive you going back and forth. I did the whole thing without any banging needed. The wood came together perfectly. The thin rows make a great finish where it looks like it's actual wood instead of laminate. There isn't that many laminates that have the thin profile and the beveled edges. Great product.

It's a little tricky to install, not hard, but not easy. It can unclick rather easily. You have to look for this before you add your edging otherwise you are stuck with pieces not locked together. I wish there were more long and medium pieces and fewer short pieces. It looks great when it's done though!!

I chose the Havana Mahogany due to its rich, dark color. After purchasing the necessary amount, I began installing. After attempting to tap in a few rows, I noticed that the ends were not completely butting up to the next. I followed the instructions. I put the tongue in the groove and locked in the long edge then using a tapping block, tapped the end to close the gap on the opposite end. When tapping the tongue into the groove, the tongue was knocking off the edge of the groove and getting shoved into the groove preventing the ends from butting up. After a whole day of trying to figure how to install these planks, I had a professional installer came out and do the install. He stated that this product does not get tapped in like other laminates. He showed me how to install them. He locked in the short end and then had to tilt the board along the long side. Using a cut 2x4 with a rubber piece wrapped around it, he began gently tapping the angled plank from the bottom of the locked shot end and working his way down the long side. After he installed all the flooring, I tried to connect a piece and still could not get it to fit right. I definately recommend having this product installed by a professional. The flooring holds up well with a dog running on it. My three year old has dropped a few objects with blunt points on it resulting in a small gouge that I repaired with some wood filler and a stain pen.

I have been using this flooring for about 6 years now. I installed in my Den about 6 years ago, which includes an outside door that my kids use to play in the snow in the backyard. It has held up to snow, and water from the pool and still looks as good as the same flooring that I just installed in my office. Years of durability at a great price. The finish hasn't faded, and I have used this and other colors of this floor throughout my house.

This product was purchased for the kitchen in my house. It was very easy to install and added a touch to the kitchen that I wish I would of done many years ago. The only thing that I had problems with on the install was the exit door transition strip. The threshold of the door was considerable lower and hit the transition strip.

This flooring is beautiful! We have laid 600 of the 800 sf purchased and the new look to our home is great. Installs easily once you get it started. Our three dogs have not left a single scratch on it - although paw marks and pet hair do show on this floor. A daily dust mop is a must (in our house). I would buy this floor again and again.

This product looks good but is very difficult to install because the floor does not snap together easily. You practically have to beat the boards together. The floor dents and chips easily and if you need to replace a board it is very difficult. Not for the average do it yourselfer.

I had carpets in my trailer and could not wait to remove them. My brother and 3 nephews installed this floor for me and they became experts. Their ages range from 8-14. They did a great job and my trailer looks great and smells so much better. They did the entire trailer, with exception of the bathrooms and kitchen. I am so pleased with the way it turned out. You can see from the pictures that it is beautiful and yes, it can be used in a trailer.

I bought my new house and was not happy with the carpet. It smelled like dog and my cats were not happy about it. I got two quotes to have buy/install both were around $7000 for the whole house. I decided that with little time left before I was moving I would install in the Living/Dining area. I install the flooring by myself, I do not recommend this. I ending making a bench out of a moving dolly after my knees could not take it. Two days to pre(after work) and two day(saturday and sunday) to install. I love they way it looks! I compared different products and this is the closest to looking like hard wood. I will get help to do the rest of the house.

Overall, we are very satisified with our purchase. We love the color, installation was easy. The only downside which I guess is to be expected if you have pets is that dirt/paw prints are more visible. I clean the floor often, but have to do it more often because of our pets.

We put this same floor in our hallway, entryway, kitchen and breakfast nook about 4 years ago and had a lot left over. So we decided to do the laundry room and back bathroom also because we would only need another 1 or 2 boxes. Well, we got it home and started into the project when we realized the old and new did not fit together. We were already in the process so we ended up having to buy more flooring to finish and it cost more than we planned for it to. And, we still have about 2 boxes of the old laminate. Oh well. At least the floor looks beautiful.

I've laid several Pergo floors in my time, and this was a bit more challenging and time consuming due to the 3 1/2" planks, but once I got started, it went well. Don't let the time part deter your decision. It is well worth it when its finished. It is best to lay out about 6-10 rows ahead of the row you work on to get the joints just right and lined properly.

This hasn't scratched yet, and I dropped several things while installing and NOTHING. The color is very rich and dramatically transforms a room. I installed this in my first floor and I am very pleased.

The Product was great! We installed roughly 300 sqft in our family room and it looks amazing. We installed a different type of product in our bedrooms and that seemed to "click" together better, but all in all this stuff worked out great. I would recommend this product to anyone!

We get compliments all of the time about how beautiful our "wood" floors are. Almsot everyone that sees the floor thinks it is real wood! My husband and I installed this lovely laminate down in our basement (about 1,000 sq ft) with a moisture barrier underneath it in about 4 days of off and on working. It was tricky to get the rows started, but once started, it went pretty fast. The flooring kept separating when we would add another row due to tapping action of locking the flooring together. TIP #1: We found it best to have someone stand on the other rows during tapping to prevent plank separation. It chips easily and damage to the tounges/grooves if you are not careful during installation. However, once it is installed, the floor is very durable and scratch-resistant! It has a deep, rich mahogany color which looks great; however, there is hardly any shine to it which was very disappointing. You can see bare footprints and handprints easily. We also found it very difficult to clean the saw dust and other drywall dust that settled on it during our remodel. TIP #2: So, keep it as clean as possible after it is installed! TIP #3: We purchased the mahogany transition strips and white quarter-round at a local big box store and they look great with the floor.

This was soooo easy to install - took three of us two days to install in a small front room I have a dog that loves to chase the cat through the house and she hasn't made one mark on the floor. It does need to be cleaned quite often (with the dog hair), but have found a product that works better than the swiffer and keeps it cleaner longer. I think it's called Bona, found it at [...]. We are putting this in the hall way soon

I really struggled to get in three courses by myself. Once I had a second pair of hands, though, we were able to assemble the full courses in place, then lift and click them into position. Definitely look at YouTube for tips in installing this if you haven't done it before. You'll need to know about Dremeling off the tabs to slide pieces in under the undercut door mouldings, as well as how to quickly Jig or Table saw the boards to size, and also which way to lay them out in a room. You can do it!

I've had this flooring installed for almost 2 years in a heavily trafficked living room and dining room. The texture makes it look like real wood. I took a scrap piece and immersed it in water for a few days, no warping or discoloration.

I had a good friend help me with cutting and installing this flooring in my side hallway which includes 5 stairs. It was so easy and it totally upgrades my hallway! It appears to show dust faster than my natural hardwood floors, but the swiffer works perfect for that! I highly recommend!

Planks come in 4' sections; my room is 16'. This caused the pattern created by the planks to not be as random as I would have liked. I don't think this would have been an issue if my room had not been a multiple of 4. Still looks great!

I installed this product in my home office and was very happy with the quality and color. I did wish it had more of a glossy finish but it does look like real wood. This laminate is beautiful, but it does show all the prints. I have 2 dogs and that is why I went with this product. It seems to be durable, and I hope it dosen't scratch easily. After installation I noticed a small mark on my dining room floor, which had to be from my table.But my dogs will put it to the true test.
Over all the floor has made a remarkable difference in my livingroom and dining room. I am very happy the way it turned out!

This floor went down pretty easily. With 5 of us working, it took ~2 days to do about 700 sq ft worth of my upstairs (this included 5" baseboards from lumber liquidators as well). It looks great and works well in my kitchen, dining room, living room, hall, bedroom and office! I highly recommend this stuff. It looks just like real hard wood and looks a million times better than traditional laminate. Do yourself a favor and purchase this stuff over traditional laminate. You won't regret it!

We bought this product thinking it would install easily. We were mistaken! The install itself is not difficult, but it is time consuming. We put in about 415 sq. ft. and it took us about 20 hours of labor. The good thing is that when we finished, we collapsed on a beautiful new bedroom floor. I recommend this flooring to anyone, but be prepared to spend a lot of time installing it.

Great flooring, very little waste ... takes time to install but it's well worth it -- lay out about 4 rows before putting it together to check for joint alignment -- it's a lot of fun, like a big jigsaw puzzle! Take your time, think things through, read the instructions! Please use the kneepads, but I hated the straps, made my legs raw so I fixed that by sewing the pads directly to my jeans! Hid the straps on the inside of the pad, didn't affect my knees at all, and best part, no chafed legs! USE LOTS of SPACERS, don't be stingy here ... The flooring is very easy to clean - but, and it's only a small but, with the darker color, it does show dirt/fluff more than a lighter floor, but that just means you have to vacuum a little more often which can't be all bad! The color was uniform throughout as well as the quality. Use new saw blades (I used a jigsaw) and change blades often. this floor has a great high end look, just be careful some box's have a grayish tint in the planks, we thought they were just dusty by the time we noticed them we had layed several rows ahead, luckily they were under the dining table.
Also dont under estimate the difficulty putting this down, It takes time and teamwork.
We had no experiance in laying floors. It was just me and my brother (who has some construction exp but not with flooring)
We did 700 feet in about 5 days. Ive had great reviews from friends and family. Hard wood would have cost 3 times what we spent and we have a great look. Plus think about the return on your investment, no one in my neighborhood has hard wood flooring. Plus we saved onlabor cast

I read the reviews before we started; most are right on the money. The first two rows were the most difficult to start. Instead of installing the first row alone, we put the first two rows together and then put them in place. It seemed to be easier that way. I also agree with the individual who gave the hints about staggering the boards; there are only so many ways to stagger three lengths. It would also help if the short and medium boards did not add up to the length of the long board.

I agree with another reviewer who said the floor has a bit of an odd luster. It is okay, but not excellent.

The tongue and grooves may chip. Before you try and put a board in place, ensure there are no small chips which can otherwise cause difficulty or interfer with board alignment

However, all and all, once we got the swing of it, the installation is not too difficult, but it does take time. A rough estimate would be 8-10 hours for an average-sized bedroom start to finish with the floor having been prepped and ready to lay the flooring.

Given the price, it is a fine product and a pretty good value, but one can discern it from hardwood or engineered flooring.

First time, I installed this over a concrete pad for our family room, and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it looked. With two dogs I was concerned about durability, but it has not shown any wear after a year, even though this room is directly off of the garage and is the most used room in the house. When we needed to replace carpeting in a 12x16 bedroom and its 12x12 walk in storage closet we decided to use the same flooring. I put down both floors, (a 45+year old mom) and could not be happier with the results. The price was fantastic, and I know I saved thousands by getting the materials from LL and doing the labor myself. My husband had the hard part, of installing the baseboards! I especially like the single strip product, even if it does take longer to install. We are now choosing which color to do the rest of the bedrooms with.

I installed about 500 sq ft of this product in my basement and am very happy with how easy it was to install, and how durable it seems to be. I've installed real hardwoods in a few rooms in my house and this product goes down way easier. Every piece had a perfect tongue and groove and was also perfectly straight (unlike hardwoods) which led to little waste. I don't think it looks quite as nice as real hardwoods, but it is still a very nice looking product. I was concerned at first with my dog scratching it so I ordered a sample of it before I bought it and put it through some scratch tests with a screw driver. I couldn't scratch it with my screw driver no matter how hard I pressed.

This is a great value for your money. Looks and feels great when installed. The only complaint I have is we ordered a pallet of boxes for our house and one of them was completely useless as it seemed to have been dropped on its side. LL accepted our return which was great news but definitely inspect your shipment as these (and any laminates) can be damaged fairly easily (mostly the edges of the planks; not so much the top part). This is also the case during installation as the edges can be broken if not installed correctly. It's possible to do as a DIY project but you need patience for the work. I definitely recommend this product though if you want an alternative to hardwood flooring.

Never installed laminate before. Went at it by myself and was impressed as to how easy it was. Put it in the hallway, kitchen and dining room. Looks great! The good things: Every time somebody sees my new floor they think it's real wood! It looks and feels awesome.
The bad things: The particular laminate I chose took about three times as long to install as some of the other choices just because each plank came as an individual board instead of having three or four drawn on, however that is part of what makes it look so real so, you win some you lose some.
My advice: Be careful about leaving gravel or sharp rocks on the floor as these will gouge the laminate. As they will tell you at LL the laminate does not do well with water so I would not recommend using it to floor a kitchen as I did. But so far it's doing good.

I had professional installers install this laminate in our foyer and hall. About 130 sq.ft. with lots of corners, doors and transitions. Looks great, lays well. Installers didn't seem to cuss too much while they were putting it in. :-)

I soaked this product for thirty minutes in water and it did not swell. I struck it with a hammer and it did not leave a mark, wow, great product. I will be using this type of flooring in all of my rental properties in high traffic areas and where I can show case its good looks. Big improvement over carpet. I believe it will pay for its self with its projected 25 years of service. Not to mention that this is an improvement that brings more value to the property than the cost.

I tore out our old light colored carpet and inexpensive laminate floor the builder installed and laid this flooring over our entire downstairs, at first I was worried it would make the rooms dark and small, but once completed it really flows and looks very rich and really makes a difference. We now have our old carpet cleaner for sale on Craigslist! Easy to install, really looks like real hardwood and cleans even easier!

This is a great product. It was a lot more work to install this vs. a traditional wider laminate, but well worth the extra effort. I absolutely love the floor. We have two 65 lb. Samoyeds and 3 kids and there have not been any mishaps yet. Our dogs love to go under the bed and you hear them scratching their way underneath and there are no marks on the floor from this. Also my 4 year old is a very rough and tumble little boy who plays hard and he has not damaged the floor either. (even flying Hotwheels have not left any marks)

I had read the horror stories in here about installation and we did not have any problems at all. This was our first time installing flooring of any kind and the only trouble I had was getting the subfloor level because it had a raised area. We never had any of the rows pop out as we were installing it and we found it very simple to install once we figured out what we were doing. It is time consuming but we finished one room in about 8 hours and I guarantee the next room will go more smoothly. Putting in new floor mouldings was much harder. I only bought enough flooring to do two bedrooms and the hallway upstairs as we wanted to make sure it was what we wanted and we are now planning on doing the rest of the house in this flooring over the next few months.

We were in a time crunch for moving into this house and originally had planned to refinish the existing hardwood floors. Once we sanded the floors we realized they were beyond reasonable repair. This was the first time I ever installed laminate flooring. I installed approximately 400sf by myself in 12 hours. The product was very easy to install, and packaging is great since it already comes in 3 different lengths. The product does not have a plastic like sound that some laminates tend to have when walking on. The V groove style also makes it look more genuine. All in all the product is the one to get.

I did not install the floors myself but I am happy with the finished product. This was the best deal for the price we paid. I loved that the underlayment was glued onto the planks and the fact that the planks came in varying sizes in the box. My installer was very happy about that. The beveled edges around each plank give it a clean look that is hard to find in laminate floors. The mahogany color was perfect for our house. The only cons I had were that some boards varied in color from the rest and its noticeable. You will see what I mean in the pictures included. Some may think this makes it look unique, while others may say it makes those boards stick out too much.

We are in the process of putting the floor down. It's been about 4 weeks and we aren't done yet. We have never put flooring down of any kind. We were confused about which way to lay it and how to lay it around heating registers. Physically, it's very hard on your knees, back and hamstrings! It would be helpful if you had 3 people helping (if a larger room) because of the way you have to raise the entire row to get it locked in while keeping the pieces all together.

All in all, we love the way the floor looks, but it's much harder to put in than has been portrayed in some other posts.

Used this product through out the house, excluding kitchen and bath. Once assembled it's beautiful !
Assembly is 'Iffy', it appears that quality control varies from box to box and does not 'snap' together in a uniform manner. This is more pronounced on the edge joints. The tool kit is a joke, the tapping bar needs to be 3 times as thick so it won't bend. The finished product is beautiful, but getting there is hard.

Overall, this is a great product and I can't believe I was able to do it myself. I installed 400 square ft in a day and a half. Like others have said, it's a little tricky to get started because it keeps moving on you. But once you get going, it gets easier. What I did was to click on the plank and then tap in the end. Keep the spacers in a few of the previous rows because when you tap, sometimes the previous rows become separated. So keep looking back at the previous rows while you are tapping to make sure they aren't coming apart. Even if you chip the end of one of the planks, save it, because you will be able to use it later, especially if you have to rip a piece. Great price and great product.

Great product. We put hardwoods throughout our entire house. We are very pleased. The only negative we ran into is the boards would seperate a little bit after you were two or three rows beyond and it was very hard to continously keep checking all the joints. Once you get two or three rows beyond the seperation you couldn't knock them together. Other than that little problem we were extremely pleased. THe overall appearance of our house changed drastically once the carpet was removed and the hardwoods were down. My wife and I did it all by ourselves.

The finshed product looks very good and is very scratch-resistent; however, you have to be careful not to drop something heavy or sharp on it and be careful with the edges as this flooring is subject to chipping.

The installation was not very difficult, but it was not easy either. The floor kept coming loose as we knocked in additional rows. This is something you have to keep a constant eye on and fix as you go or you will have a very difficult time trying to knock it in place after installing a few rows. You also have to pay attention and layout some of the rows prior to installing them to ensure that the lines alternate for a more natural look.

Once my husband and I got the hang of things, we were able to move fairly quickly with installing the floor. The V-grooves make the floor look very close to hardwood and it is nice that the padding comes pre-attached to the flooring. Overall, I think the product is durable against scratches and nice-looking.

I installed the product myself with help from a family member. It turned out beautifully however it was time consuming to install. I was surprised at the high angle that you needed in order to correctly snap the pieces in place. However, all this being said it looks amazing. My friends were surprised with how "real" it looked! It was worth the sweat equity for the finished product. I do recommend using the Pledge multi-surface to clean. It leaves it looking like new.

This floor looks great. It was not easy to install at first till I got the hang of it. If someone had shown me how to do it in the beginning it would have been better, but once I had the experience of doing about a half room I was cruising. Definately invest in a good tap block and pull bar, the light wieght one I got at the L. L. Store was pretty weak, a tap block shaped more like a z and a wider pull bar is better. I recomend making sure you lay out each line of floor to see what it looks like first and making sure that you cut the floor to fit the room on both ends of each line to achieve a true random look in the seams. If you don't and only cut the floor at one end patterns will emerge and even though there may be a few boards in between you will have straight lines of seams going across the whole room. Some may prefer that look but I don't. Laying it out and cutting from both ends may take a bit longer but it is worth it. Looks wise unless someone gets down and stares at the floor they won't know it's not wood. Another thing I did that I would recomend is to make sure you don't put any of the prints that look the same right next to each other as it draws attention to it. If you have or get this floor there is a double knot pattern with a big knot and a small one next to each other if you put those too close together you will notice. When you look through your product you WILL know exactly what I'm talking about. I put this product in my living room and dining room and it looks great. I chose this product not only because it looks great and the price worked out into my budget, but also because it is a floating floor. I still have th original random width oak planks from 1900 in my house, but the floor needed repair and the refinishing job was too much for me to take on. This floor allowed me a great look at a low cost without damageing my existing hard wood so in the future I still have the option of restoring it.

It was very easy to install. It takes about a day from the time you start demolition to the time you finish putting back on the molding, once you get a rhythm going. I think you really can't do better as far as flooring goes. Each piece looks like a single board and the edges are tapered.
We are doing our whole house and I was concerned about how dark it was at first, but actually it lightened up our furniture and walls by contrast.

This flooring is Awesome! We have three dogs (two of them large dogs) and they can't touch this stuff. We had real maple in a previous home and the floors took their toll from the dogs. After 10 months, it needed to be refinished. Not with this stuff! I installed this flooring almost 6 months ago and not one scratch. It looks as close to hardwood floors as you can get and it's more durable. I found it difficult to install, tried to take some shortcuts, and because of such, there are several areas of imperfection...hard to notice, but I know they are there. It definately isn't the easiest stuff for a novice to install mainly because of the 3" width. I laid 900 square feet in 3 days. I would probably pay a sub-con to install next time so that it comes out perfect....easy to do since stuff is cost friendly for laminate flooring. You can count on this stuff!

Very happy with this product. It really looks fantastic. Even better than we had hoped. We installed 1700 square feet in our home, so I think we are experts at installation at this point :) However, getting started, there are a few gotchas... please note these might be the same for all laminates so I am not knocking this product.
(1) There is definitely a technique to locking the pieces in place. The longest pieces are particularly tricky when getting started. I would have preferred a more foolproof locking mechanism, but to be fair I don't think an 8 mm product could be any more rigid. Some of the 12 mm products look like they are easier to work with, but there wasn't anything available in that category on our timeline (stuff was on backorder for months).
(2) Be careful about how you tap the floor in, we have 3 tapping blocks and 1 of the 3 seemed to damage/bend the lip - so if you find the floors aren't locking clean together at the ends, check your block/tapping technique.
(3) Also we found the "pull bar" to be another potential problem. Our initial one was flimsy, difficult to use, and tended to chip the laminate off. Bought a second one at the local big box store and it is much heavier/thicker.
(4) If working in a larger area, it pays to use a lot of spacers (beyond just enough to establish the expansion gaps) to pin the boards in tight. Otherwise we found that the tapping/pulling on the new row caused pieces in prior rows to come apart slightly. We blew some time figuring that one out and then retapping all the rows back in.

This was relatively easy to install! I purchased because I have dogs, and this is almost completely scratch resistant. I find with any type of wood floors, you tend to clean more...the dust usually disappears into carpet, but I am happy with this product, and have had in installed in my living room for about a year. First couple rows were a little difficult, can float on you if you don't keep pushing forward. We took about 3 inch chips from our cuts, and used them to knock the pieces into place either left or right (also to push it forward). Be careful on the edges as they can chip. Because they come in 3 equal lengths, there are only so many ways to put it down and not have the lines parallel, it was easier to make small cuts on the ends to start a row and really break up the lines. Looks great, compliments from everyone. We even used it for stairs and kickboards, but it's a good idea to use finish nails on the kickboards and stairnoses. Just for extra strength. Read some reviews [...] prior to buying, don't believe the hype. Great product, floor installers aren't fans for obvious reasons, seems like homeowners like myself are!!!

I loved that the underlayment was already attached, so we didn't have to worry about that. It is very easy to install, snapped together no problem. The only problem I had was with the 'matching pieces'. The stairnose, t-molding etc. did not match the laminate at all.
