The color is beautiful - dark, but not too dark. It is like any other kind of wood; if you drop something on it, it will probably dent.

The pieces were sorted by size in the box, with many of the longer 7' lengths on bottom. I wish I had known this when I started so I could have mixed them in better. The dark striations in the wood color seem more prominent in the wood that I purchased than what I saw at the store and in pictures. This wood installs beautifully and we have had very little trouble with it. The finish looks very nice.

Like any hardwood floor, dusting is a must if you want to have good looking floors and weekly light cleaning with hardwood flood cleaner keeps the shine longer. I love the look of the grain and finish match, and it was easy to install. I was 60 when I did the first floor and have used this product twice now.
