I have done two bedrooms with the Brazilian Cherry and love both of them. Keys to a good install are good planning, complete prep, and using good tools. The Cherry is very hard and you need to use carbide tools. You also need to use a power nailer and be prepared to pre-drill for all of the boards along the wall where you cannot get the power nailer to reach. I enclosed a picture of the picture framing technique I used in the second bedroom to give the floor a more traditional appearance. It takes more planning and you have to be prepared to use the router to modify the end cuts of the boards in the corners. I think it was well worth the extra work. By the way the feature strip is made of Bellawood Canadian Maple in the 2 1/4 size as opposed to the 3 1/4 size of the Brazilian Cherry.

I installed DuPont laminate in my back bedrooms and it was hard to install around doorways etc. I rented a floor nailer, which was a necessity, but the job was straight forward and the product is as high quality as described. A few bad boards, but the waste was far below what I expected. I can't speak to the wear yet, but it was less work than laminate and only $1.00 more per square foot for 3/4 inch hardwood that is really pretty to look at.

My husband and I installed 3/4 inch Brazilian Cherry by Bellawood in our kitchen. We are thrilled with our purchase especially with it's durability. We have a 70lb dog who runs through the kitchen several times a day and not a scratch.
Also we have old hardwood floors throughout the rest of the house and we are seriously considering replacing them soon. When we do it will be with the brazilian cherry by Bellawood from lumber liquidators.love it!!!

We had this flooring installed in our family room, I have it for about 2 months and I simply love it. We got the select Brazilian Cherry. We hardly had any waste. I am getting lots of compliments from my friends. The only thing is that it scratches and dents very easily if you drop something. I would highly recommend this product to others.

We just finished putting this down in our dining room and hallway. It was quite frustrating at first because of the smaller flooring.All nailers were for 3/4". Since we could not find the right nailer to use that wouldn't split the tongue, and even the tops of the planks. However, we did use the websites helpful tips on installing, and it helped. We finally got it down, and it does look great. We are still adding the finishing touches.

Installed in a bedroom closet. Made the closet look large and roomy. Chose to install wood rather than mismatched carpet that would later have to be replaced again. I like it so well that we will install the wood in the bedroom when it is time to replace the carpet! Beautiful product very pleased.

My wife researched the internet far and wide before we decided on purchasing Bellawood. We ordered several samples from different manufacturers and conducted our own in-home scratch test of the finish. Bellawood was the clear stand out, so that combined with a good price led us to purchase the product. We've never laid our own hardwood floor, although we are fairly proficient DYI'ers. We laid this product in the diniing room and it came out fabulously! We absolutely love the new look, and the floor went down flawlessly. Lots of long pieces to choose from, very few throw aways, and I was impressed with how straight and square each piece was. I expected to have to deal with straightening most of the flooring pieces, and in fact I only had to deal with one out of an entire room. Great product, great look!

some of the wood, a small percentage, was not inspected properly by the manufacture. the wood was uneven so the floor not flush. these boards were outer pieces of the log by the bark. other than that the wood is beautiful and looks great ake sure you figure in the 5% extra to avoid using these bds.

I installed the Brazilian Cherry in a Family Room, 11'x17'. No real problems except the wood is very hard, difficult to cut (even with new blades)without generating some smoke. I made all cuts on an adjacent outdoor patio. The quality of the wood and the finish are excellent Only a few pieces had milling imperfections.

We remodeled a home with existing Bellawood flooring. Flooring was originally installed in the late 80's or so. Removal of existing built-in's created a void in flooring. Removal of existing flooring without damage was next to impossible, original installer was staple and although not needed, glue crazy. We were able to save much of the existing materials. Upon removal and preparation the new floor went like a breeze, even lacing new materials with reused existing materials was a smooth task. Keeping in mind that cherry wood darkens and becomes more rich looking with age and difference with toleranes from the various mills (a few tricks up our sleeves resolved tolerance issues), match of new flooring to existing was very acceptable.

I heard a lot of buzz about prefinished floors, beveled edges and that these types of products were in some way inferior to the more traditional, or old-fashioned unfinished floors where sanding and finishing is required after the install. Prefinished flooring is the way to go.

I do worry about the source for LL's raw materials and whether or not they're considered 'sustainable'.

I wouldnt try this with a manual nailer. The boxes contained enough random lengths which kept the joints spaced far enough apart for a pleasing look. With one person laying out the pattern and two installing boards, we finished a 14x16 room in one long day. The finish has less variation in color than some other Brazilian Cherry we had installed previously. Still plenty of tones and contrasts to make the floor stand out. In 11 boxes, we had only one flawed board and one that had a grain pattern that we chose not to use. Excellent compared to the previous install from a floor store.

I installed about 1000 sq feet of this product. The preparation is the hardest part. I removed all baseboards, carpeting (including a million staples, added more screws in the subfloor, painted the rooms, flush-cut the door frames and pre-built each step in my stairs. This took a lot of time, but the installation went very smoothly. The only fault I found with the material was in a couple of boxes, where some of the grooves were not cut straight or deep enough to accept the tongue.

I'm retired and thought the job would take me several months working part-time on it. It actually went much faster and I finished in about 6 weeks. It looks beautiful so far. I'm told the wood will darken naturally in the sun, but my house doesn't have a lot of bright sunlight.

The only other comment I have is make sure you pre-drill any boards which have to be hand nailed. Brazilian Cherry is amazingly hard and resists nailing. There was very little waste. I also used a couple of boxes of the narrow size boards. It reduced the amount of ripping. Be sure to have an extra blade or two for your chop saw.

I had been looking for the right product for 6 months. I not only found the perfect floor the LL was easy to work with. My handy-man installer had it down in short order and it was easy to work with.

I have never installed a wood floor before in my life. When we built our home 15 years ago we had always wanted a wood floor in the dining room. Using a little sweat equitity we were able to install the wood floor in the living and dining room for about the same price of new good quality carpet installed by a contractor. We couldn't be happier with the end result. Attached are a couple photos, one before and one after. It is a dramatic change.

The brazillian cherry floor is much more than I ever hoped for! I would seriously consider installing it throughout my entire house. My only recommendation is to use the most powerful air compressor available, because the wood is so hard it can be difficult for the nails to penetrate it. Once you get the right air compressor, the floor installs easily.

I love the way the brazilian cherry looks in my kitchen and dining room. It has darkened a lot since we installed it about 1 1/2 years ago. I don't have many complaints. There is a scratch were a chair was in the dining room when my son pulled it back and we had pads on the bottom. Also with 2 dogs you can see the hair rather easily against the wood color. It takes a lot of time to keep them looking clean.

I installed 1000 sq ft of the discounted / odd lot Bellawood Brazilian Cherry, and i found the milling to be less predictable than the top grade Bellawood product (see previous review: "Lake Tahoe, NV") - I realized the difference after I put in 700sq ft more of the top grade (higher price!) brazilian cherry - the top grade came together much tighter. - Regardless, I really do recommend this product with this caveate noted.

If you have active (read: crazy) dogs like I do (australian shepherds) they will scratch the floor(more like faint linear indents - the finish does not acutually come off) - it's not very noticiable, in fact you cant see it unless you have just the right angle.

Anyway, check out the pics. I really do love this floor.

Our floor is very good looking. We have just installed, so am anxious to see how well it wears. With the warranty, the expectation would be extremely durable.
We were disappointed in lack of instruction concerning installation. We found very little help or suggestions. The price on the flooring was reasonable considering the warranty, however the trim pieces are very expensive! Our trim consisting of two pieces was at least 25% of our overall cost of the project. Be sure and consider the trim price when purchasing your flooring.

We had some water damage over the winter when we were not home. The wood did warp. Luckily it was in the back of the kitchen so it is not noticeable. We do keep our home heated in the winter to prevent the wood from buckleing.So far, so good other than the water problem.

Put this floor in a bedroom. This is my third hardwood floor install. The Bellawood had no scrap due to warped boards in 9 boxes; installed easy. I would highly recommend Bellawood flooring; compared to Bruce Hardwood flooring, Bellawood wins hands down.

Although the wood pieces do not always look good coming out of the box(i.e. inconsistant colors, busy wood grains and fairly standard lengths) if you are careful to match the patterns of the wood properly before installing, the final product will be a very nice floor. Keep in mind that the nails bend easily because the wood is very strong, and they won't come out easily if you need to remove a bent nail. Usually it needs to be cut off with a grinding stone. And finally, be prepared for the 30% that isn't the most pleasant looking wood pieces. Plan ahead to where to place them (under a couch for example)

I just finished the entire downstairs with bellawood brazilian cherry along with tile in the kitchen. It makes a world of difference compared to the carpet. Plus, I did it myself and if anybody has ever pulled up their old carpet you realize real quick how much cleaner your house will be without carpet. It is pretty nasty between the carpet and pad. And we keep a pretty clean house.

Putting it down in hallway, high traffic area, dining room and living room. Not done installing yet and already want to buy more and install in bedrooms. So beautiful, very little waste, have opened about 12 boxes so far and may have had 3 boards that were not good and needed bad pieces cut off. Amazing, good value for the money. Don't expect it to go down fast. Cutting takes time, selecting boards takes time, and we are using A LOT of nails (staples) to install to help prevent shifting.

this is really beautiful flooring. i put in 1000sq feet of it, and it was worth it. however, don't let anyone tell you doing flooring is "easy" - it's a work out! - but if you're handy and not afraid of a table saw and some hard work, then do it!

this flooring really came out beautifully, just 2 things to consider:

1. GAPS. pre-finished floors will, invariably, have some areas that have some small gaps between boards. this is no big deal, but it's a different look than a floor that is finished after it's installed. the upside to the pre-finish is, of course, a super hard finish that's done in a factory, not in your house. i put this in 3 years ago and i'll be putting in 600 sq ft more of the same in the house this summer.

2. SUN EFFECT. the wood that comes out of the box will look VERY different (and actually more attractive) in a year after the sun has had it's effect. first, it will turn darker where the sun hits it (move that furniture around and lay off the throw rugs for a year or two). then, in high sun exposed areas it will turn lighter!! (may not be as dramatic where you live - i'm at 6600ft altitude - the sun can be pretty intense here). this can make for a bit of crazy making with the sun lines. it would be less of an issue if they made this known up front (i had no idea).

anyway, great stuff, and very good value.
