* open up as many boxes as you can before installation as there are lots of different length pieces.
* even when driven up tight there is a visible space between the ends of the boards.
* The finish on a few boards was lighter than the rest.
* Good wood with very few knots or waste!

The finish is just beautiful. There were quite a few smaller pieces but if you take your time and think about the layout it all falls into place. Some edges had some imperfections but it can be salvaged. Variations in the finish give it a lot of character.
