Yes it is hard, long work.. You have to choose what you want to keep or throw out.. We used some of the 'rustic' pieces, and finished with varathane.. BEAUTIFUL..

This was overall a great deal. I didn't mind the knots and splits so much. what I did not expect is that you could end up with 3" widths and 3-1/4" widths in the same bunch. also you could end up with material that was destined to be pre-finished which means some of the boards will have a chamfer on the top edges. Also, LL gets these "rustic" boards from different companies who have different ideas of what "rustic" is. the first batch I purchased 600ft. had many boards that were unusable. I would guess 5%. The next batch I bought 400ft was beautiful from a different company. I would suggest anyone ordering this rustic wood order twice as much as you need and hand pick the stuff you want at the warehouse. this way you could pick through the chamfered, dif. widths, so that your floor will be more uniform than mine turned out to be. see photos of my project at [@]. Go to the ware house before purchasing so you can see for yourself what the stuff looks like. I was a little nervous about not being able to return. Even with the waste, which was not much, this turned out to be a beautiful product and I am extremely pleased.Good Luck!

We love our new floor and it was easy to install. However, there were a few boards that were not maple and we got 1 bundle the wrong width, so keep an eye out!

The product is great has some bumps and dents but gives it a great rustic look. Only get about 75-80% good wood in a batch but can use the other peices along walls or non high traffic areas. Not a great idea to try and put in if you are a first time user but truns out great if you have had expeiance.

This made for a beautiful floor - everyone who sees it gushes over it. Lots of knots and figure. Fill the knots with dark-brown (colored) Bondo - no one will know the difference.
The main complaint I have with this flooring is that the factory included pieces that could never ever be used. Cracked all the way through (falling apart cracked) and even rotten pieces. There are pieces that are completely unusable, and I was very forgiving. Also, they will include different widths. I got all 3.25" lumber in the first batch that I bought. The second batch was mixed with 3" peices. I have no idea why they do this. I can't imagine how anyone laying a floor would be able to make this work. They are going to tell you "that's why the wood is so cheap". Come on.
Lumber Liquidators suggested buying 20% more for waste, but I'd up that figure a bit. It's cheap enough and incredibly pretty that it's worth it. I'm very happy with the floor, and you will be too. I'm giving it 4 stars because given what I had to work with, and the expectations of flooring pros, I've got a stunning floor.
