Everyone...and I mean everyone who sees this floor wants to know where I found it, and how they can get one. Our house is a 4 year old 'farm house' that I designed to look old. All of our visitors think we are re'habing an old farm house and just love the 'original floors'. We have installed this floor with a 'T' nailer and also a finish nailer for some surface nailed areas sporatically through out the floor. The open knots, worm holes, and other 'flaws' are awesome. I stained it with Cabot oil based ebony stain (custom color) and finished with oil based Semi-gloss Cabot poly (3 coats). It's just beautiful!

There were too many pieces that I could not use. It would have been worth the money to buy the upgrade.
Comments about 3/4" x 2 1/4" Utility Oak Flooring:
I have purchased about 900 sq ft twice. The first 900 was fairly good. The second 900 had considerable waste. Not just big knots, but big holes and the grooves milled on the wrong side.
I have some nice dry firewood now.

I tore a wall out and one room had hardwood and the other tile. I wanted the feel of one room, the problem is, the original floors were installed in 1954. The natural distressed look of this product made the floor look like they'd always been there (after sanding of course). I had about 25% unusable, so to make sure you have enough, I'd add 30% to your order. I'm extremely pleased.

Installed on kitchen and dining room ceilings after removing an old suspended ceiling. Was extremely satisfied with the charm and rustic look. Ceiling turned out beautiful! Did not need to sand or use stain, just three coats of water -based Polycrylic clear semi-gloss.I plan on using this product again! Some waste, but with a little time, effort and creativity was able to use most of the wood. Durable, beautiful look, great price,,,how could you ask for more?!

I installed about 1,000 square feet in a detached garage which will be my woodworking shop. Installation was a lot of work, but worth the effort.

I used this in a ranch house and the flaws give that old character you look for in a vintage place

I ordered 25% more than the square feet needed. The product ran about 30% unusable pieces. Nevertheless it turned out to be a beautiful floor with lots of character.

Nice natural look. Waste depends on how natural you want it to look. For my preference, not a lot of waste.

By its very nature, every piece of this product has some flaw. If a person is willing to use a bit of ingenuity and do a fair amount of work they can have a real nice floor at a great price. We put this in the entire main floor of our lake home, a main room, a den, 3 bedrooms, and a bathroom, about 900 square feet. By gluing splits, filling cracks and holes, plugging open knots, cutting off damaged sides and joining the good halves, and a few other fixes, I was able to use about 90% of the flooring. When it was finished and installed, all these repairs added character to the rustic look that was perfect for the lake. We get Lots of compliments!

we recently renovated a 60 year old house including repairing or replacing many planks in an old oak floor and extending some rooms. this unfinished rustic oak matched perfectly for both the repairs/replacement pieces and for the room expansions where the flooring was installed against existing flooring. it was easy to istall and matches the old floor perfectly.

This job is not for the faint-of-heart! HOWEVER, we installed this in our 150 year old Victorian home, and virtually every new visitor thinks it's the original flooring... and that we've done such a wonderful job of restoring it. They all think it's beautiful! And we did it WITHOUT stain! Just glob in some good putty to the cracks and knot-holes (remember this is NOT smooth lumber), let it cure (overnight is all we did), sand and finish. We used a clear satin (not gloss) finish and believe me, it draws BEAUTIFUL grain out of this inexpensive lumber! Even in our kitchen -- we are avid cooks and like to entertain so EVERYTHING has been spilled on it -- it just looks better and better as time goes by.
If you're a capable do-it-yourselfer and are not afraid of the work, you will be happy and proud of your new floor!

Installation was made on the ceiling of the
exercise room. Flooring will be carpet with
one mirrored wall and two outside wall are
floor to ceiling glass. Had to buy more wood
then I needed to get the good pieces but will use
the excess to build platforms for my cats to
lay on.

We installed ours several years ago in our family room and bedroom. We hope to finish the rest of the house soon. There is waste, but we factored that in when we bought the wood. I think we bought 30% more than what was needed and we have some still leftover. It is a lot of effort, but worth it in the end. I think we have 2 or 3 layers of poly and no stain. First picture is before poly, second is afterwards.

I went into the store to get the oak, but bought the maple instead for like a dime more a sq ft. Much harder wood, highly recommended. This is a great buy for the person who is looking for a RUSTIC, COUNTRY, OR SOUTHWEST FEEL to their home. IT IS VERY HARD WORK. YOU WILL NOT USE THESE FLOORS FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS!!! Do not, I repeat, do not buy this type of wood if you are looking for a smooth, classic look, or are apalled at a lot of waste. YOU ARE GOING TO SEE A LOT OF BAD WASTE!!! If you want a more traditional look, spend the extra money and buy the prefinished or engineered. If you are not wanting to sand, wood putty, apply wood conditioner-(important if you are wanting a darker stain, especially on maple), one or more coats of stain, at least 3 coats of poly, and fixing a lot of boards to be usable, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS! BUT, if you want a totally awesome, rustic, hand rubbed look, (mine looks exactly like the kind that costs 6.00+ a ft), then this is the best buy!! I LOVE MY FLOOR. I could not have got this look for any less than 6$ a ft, that based on many quotes, without labor. Did I say, I LOVE MY FLOOR??!! BTW, I used all Minwax products, and they came out wonderful, again, use the Minwax wood conditioner before staining, its worth the money, and also use the fast drying poly FOR FLOORS, again, worth the extra money. (Add 30-40% waste), and ask questions to the managers at the store, they have great advice. Cost factor, with top coat for 650 ft was about 1500, vs around 6G, great investment! Good luck!

This product went into a new office addition in my home. It matched the original wood perfectly, and other than a small pile of less than stellar pieces, it turned out beautifully. Its easy to install, thick, and good quality. Some sanding, a little wood filler, and some varnish made this new floor look better than the professionally intalled floor in the rest of my house. And for the price, you just cant beat it.

I used this to match a floor installed over sixty years ago. It matched perfectly. Installation went fairly easily. There is alot of waste with this product probably about 40%. You can fill some imperfections with wood filler. Floor looks great after sanding and applying finish.

It was labor intensive for my contractor, but I am extremely happy final results. I would however recommend a darker stain.

we bought 3 bundles of this oak flooring. 22 sqft per bundle. two bundles were tied with straps, one was wrapped in plastic and tied.... the two without plastic were almost total waste... the wrapped in plastic bundle was great.. we barely had enough to finish 49 sq ft with the 66 we bought.. be ware.. check the wood in these bundles.. I really think somesone had sorted through the two bundles to make a better set for someone.. the rest is going to be firewood....

If you want the look of a real wood floor, as opposed to the prefinished 'snap together' stuff use this product. Installation is more difficult, lots of patching and diluted plastic wood used to fill knot holes and cracks, but the end result is great. Character, depth and the price is right!

I have installed this in my house and in a friends appartment complex. The mixure of oaks in the flooring give off a very nice look. The floors look like an engeneerd floor. I had a bit of waist and I used the extra I had to make my own baseboards and crown molding.

I live in a town house and installed this on my entire first floor. It looks beautiful, just as nice as the more expensive high grade oak. Waste is a little more. I will be using on the second floor as well. Be carefull though, some of the edges are not as crisp as they should be. I am a carpenter but have not been active for about 15 years. Take your time and make sure its tight before nailing. Use a pneumatic nailer and an underlayment such as 15 lb. roofing paper.

I have used this in everyroom in my huse except the bathroom and with a little hard work some wood putty and floor sander you can have beautiful oak floors and it can be don inexpensively. Just remember to order enough because the waste is a bit high. other than that take your time and the floors will look just like the expensive per foot flooring
