Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

I'm not a fan of the rustic look but had to match existing floor for client, It's a good value for money but I would'nt put it my house to me it's contractor grade. If your going to spend the money do it right with bellawood prefinished, It only costs a little more to go with the best, and it's worth it.

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

We installed this product 4 years ago in our living and dining area. It turned out way better than we thought. Though I could have done a better job finishing. I could not be more pleased with the end result. We have four small children and this floor is more durable than any floor I have seen. Our parents Maple is pretty, but it is terribly scratched and dented. I see a lot of floors and none compare to rustic red oak. The cleaner looking oak is nice, but rustic is beautiful, you can look at it for long periods of time and enjoy its character.
We like this floor so much we are going to put it in our bedrooms also.

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

I bought this flooring to repair places in the floor of one of my rental units, which was built in 1930. After making these repairs, I sanded and finished the floor, and it is very difficult to distinguish the original floor boards and the new, replaced ones. Thank you for a great product!

Service & Delivery comments:

Lumber Liquidators had this product in stock on two different occasions when I needed it, as well as slip tongue, and they provided it all with a cheerfulness that I enjoyed very much. Thanks.

We could not believe the price was so affordable! My husband and I had to put a little elbow grease in to the finish but it was well worth it. I wanted my floor to look just like grandma's. That is what we got. The scrap was minimal. We finished it with tung oil and it is perfect. [...]

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

This flooring was better than I was expecting for the price. Very few pieces were warped or split. The lengths were longer than I expected too. We just clear coated the floor with water based finish and the color variation really stands out. I like this much more the rest of the Oak floors in my house. We installed 250 sq. ft. in 2 days; and after lumber, rentals, finishing and supplies it still cost less than prefinished.

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

I purchased a lower than select grade of red oak because I like the color variation and character of a more rustic oak. The price was good at[$]/sqft. However, I was very surprised at the large number of large boards per bundle. I have installed dozens of floors and this was a great value.

100% appropriate for high traffic areas - I even used it in an auxillary bathroom and have only received positive feedback. Easy to finish with minimal sanding. Great character. Unfinished so waste can be used for kindling.

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

We used this flooring in a 400 sq. ft. music studio and in a bedroom. There was about 8-10% waste- expected for the grade and price. Went down easily, took the tung oil finish beautifully. The wood has such a beautiful color when using a non-polyurethane finish that is doesn't need stain. Couldn't be happier.

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

Not much waste at all. Color variations add character. Some discoloratioin that was substantial, and couldn't be used. The biggest problem was sanding out the two crayon marks from the face of each board. They should have marked the backs.[...]

Pros:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

Doing a total kitchen remodel, house was built in 1878, we were going to go with laminate, however the era of the house dictates staying with real wood. We have rift & quarter throughout the house. I've stained the new floor in the kitchen a little darker than the other parts of the house, it looks fantastic. For a first timer DIY,along with some help from a friend the installation was not difficult and the floor looks GREAT and I haven't put the clear coat on yet.

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

Floor was very easy to install. The stain took to this wood great and it looks awesome. Sanding, staining and pollying the floor was more work than we thought, make sure you have the time. It ended up costing the same as a finished floor but looks better then a finished floor.

Need to match old oak floors?
By Have to live to 112Verified Purchaser from Marietta, GA on 10/10/2008
Pros:
Good Value, Great match for old oak, High Quality
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

Having an old house with hardwood from the 50's I was looking for flooring that would eventually just flow from the old oak to the new. The lowest grade (and least expensive!!!!), a mix of all grades, looked wonderful when placed onto my newly renovated kitchen floor. I found that I had to actually stain it the "golden oak" to match, but my whole house looks like it was done at the same time.

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

Too many dark pieces for my liking-some were whitish w/ dark streaks, very unappealing and made it difficult to coordinate the boards. Thankfully we finished them before installing so we knew exactly where those dark boards were going. They were better off being hidden under the couch and area rug. We used #2 b/c our kitchen has existing red oak #3 and we had to match it somewhat.

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 2 1/4" Red Oak Flooring:

We REALLY like the majority of the oak we received, although there were many pieces in some bundles that were much darker - almost walnut colored and not in such good shape as the rest of the oak. Overall we love the variety of grain and color, but will be exchanging a bundle or two of the peices that seem to be of less quality than grade #2.
