An end cap is usually used for this application.

Yes it can but may require the spacer supplied to bring it up toproper height for thicker laminates.

You will need one nosing (7.5 lin ft each) for every two steps.
I would figure 3 sq ft of laminate flooring to do each step.
                Thank you for your inquiry.

            • Q:

I have already purchased the laminate flooring and the stair noses. I am in a limbo if I should use the laminate on the stairs or go with solid wood. My concern is that since the laminate has to go flash, on wall to wall, how would the laminate expand if there is no room?

                A:

When installing a laminate on stairs it will be glued directly to each step (remove padding first)
and will not require an expansion space.
                Thank you for your inquiry.

                A:

The overall width is 2-3/8" the portion that rest on the existing step is 1-3/8" (cut off existing overhanging nosing first) so leave about 1-5/8" from the edge for nosing to fit.

                Floating Stair Step Installations:
You will need to cut off the existing overhanging nosing on each step first.
                1. Starting from the bottom of the staircase working up, cut the stair riser to match the height and width of the step. The risers can be made from the flooring or other finished material.
                2. The Stair Nosing is then installed to overlap the flooring on step and cover the riser.
                (Nail and glue for safety,)
                3. Cut the flooring Stair and Nosing to length.
                4. An additional "filler" piece of flooring must be added to the back of the flooring.
The Steps and Risers should be attached by direct gluing to the stair using 100% urethane
construction adhesive. (For safety, omit all padding)

                Thank you for your inquiry.
