very happy with product.

By carrie

from central ohio

Pros

  • durable/ easy/ low odor .
  • truly beautiful finish.

Cons

  • none

Best Uses

  • any room , wet areas too

We have laid 750 square feet of this in our home over the last 30 days, so far we are very happy with it.It has slight texture to it which we find good, reduces slipping in wet areas such as bathroom and kitchen. It is a breeze to clean and truly beautiful finish. We have applied over new sub-floor AND traditional 8 year vinyl square flooring. To those who found it challenging to work with, no offensive but I have to assume you are not accustom to DYI,we had zero issues , in fact one area (very small where my husband eroded), came right up under light force of a putty knife and few new planks went down perfectly. Very happy, NO buyers remorse.

Service and delivery comments:

picked up at store , large amount, store fork lifted it as a wrapped bundle into our friend's work large work van. if you are buying in large volume take weight for transport and storage into account.

Pros

  • beats laminate

Cons

Best Uses

I recently purchased and installed this flooring for a rental property we have and I am so pleasantly surprised of the look, feel, quality and ease of installation and the price was right! I am a total do it your selfer, and have laid all types of flooring and I will never go back to laminate. I will be installing the premium grade of the vinyl planking in my own home in the near future. It is the only way to go if you have pets and high traffic in your home! I can already see how well it will hold up in high moisture areas too!

Service and delivery comments:

fast delivery. No problems there.

Dont let the price fool you! This was the most labor intensive 100 feet of flooring I ever laid. Laminate is much easier! Product will not stick well to OSB or Particle board, as per instructions. You need Luann plywood or a backer board which means more expense and more work. Or you could try a Vinal floor adhesive, which I did but that was a mess! I now wish I used a backer board. The tiles moved overnight and they look like I need to grout the floor. The one major benifit is that it does look better than the old stained carpet!

put this in a walk in closet - only used 1 box - piece of cake to cut and install - but - as the board is handled to make any cuts or to place to measure the heat from your hands seems to soften the glue on the back and make the paper extremely difficult to peel off in one piece - and once it tears on the back of the board picking off the small pieces of the paper makes for a very sticky mess on your hands and it gets more sticky with each piece - be careful - don't overhandle the boards

Installs easy. Well worth the cheap price and it looks great. A little hard to get them to lay in a strait line but I am very picky and any small gaps are unnoticeable to others.

Clean your floor beforehand and scrape any excess caulk/paint/etc that may be sticking up a bit.

The only tools you need are a hand roller ($20) and a pair of snips. I used an old pair of my siding snips and it was just like cutting vinyl siding but easier because there are no bends. Snips will cut down your install time over a knife big time. You can probably get a cheap pair for $10 if you don't have any already. Besides that all you need is a square/straitedge, pen/pencil, tapemeasure, garbage for the plastic peel off, and a chalk box if neccessary.

Seriously looks like real wood. Instructions say to start in center but my edges (both sides) at the wall were a pain to cut 1 inch pieces of such a long (36") piece. I got it installed by myself (I am female) in a few hours for 150 sq. ft.

I am looking at the Tranquility vinyl, to use in a kitchen. I expect that there will be damage in the future, perhaps often. I want to know how difficult it will be to pull up and replace a plank. Would I warm it with a heat gun and use a scraper, or chip out and use what to dissolve the remaining glue that is adhered to the floor.
I would also like to know if you think that hardboard/Masonite would be a suitable underlayment. This will be going over a rough old wood floor with a transition to an addition, and I want to level it all out.
                            Thank you.

The easiest way to R&R a peel & stick vinyl plank is warm it with a heat gun which will loosen the adhesive and use a stiff broad knife (putty knife) to lift it off the substrate.
Do not use solvents as it may prevent the replacement plank from sticking (dry scrape any excess adhesive from the substrate.
I would not recommend Masonite, use luan board as per the instructions.

How much weight can the product stand before denting or cracking. Will a bedframe or dresser cause dents?
