This was a great product... loved the sticky stip and plastic overlay... made it easy to see if the strips were straight. Very thick, good quality. Downside of that is that it is hard to cut if your blade gets dull. Never used before, definitely will again!

I used this product over an older subfloor. It provides great sound deadening and takes away the small surface variations.
Although I thought it was too expensive, I bought it for the investment in a great hardwood floor and, in the end, was worth the extra cost.

I debated on how to rate this because the Bellawood underlayment seems like a fine product. It was easy to install and works to provide a pleasant walking surface- quiet and not too springy.

But, I want to offer our story to save others disappointment and potential health issues. We installed this product directly on the concrete slab as recommended by the LL in-store rep. Shame on us for taking his word and not doing our own research.... We recently pulled up some of our flooring and underlayment that we originally installed about 6 months ago (not due to any issues with the floor, but related to other remodeling work). WHEW! The musty mildew smell was awful! And the blue padding (underside) had a slightly damp feel. Note that we did not notice the mildew odor until we began to pull up the floor-the odor was well-trapped under the flooring.

Turns out it states in the installation guide that this product should be used in conjunction with a moisture barrier when placed on concrete slab (in one place it states this generally, in another place it states when vapor emission rate exceeds a certain amount). Some info about our slab so you can compare situations: about 50 yrs old (do not know if vapor barrier was placed under floor slab), in the Southwest (low rainfall), with OK drainage around the house. I would not have considered our situation to be high moisture, but clearly it is an issue so we are going to do some testing. We will be pulling up about 500 sf of installed laminate, replacing any stinky underlayment($$), and placing a poly layer on the concrete under the underlayment or going to a suitable all-in-one product.

Hopefully others will avoid future costly mistakes based on our experience. And I also hope that LL reads these reviews and they encourage LL to make sure their sales staff are sufficiently educated about these products before advising customers on their specific installs.
