Birch is one of the mainstays in the home flooring industry and for good reason. It brightens up a home with its light toasted almond coloring and superb graining to match. Whether in a traditionally decorated house or modern setting, this extraordinary flooring will add a unique and vibrant touch to just about any space?including yours.
This product is proudly finished in the USA.

Crafted Meticulously. Harvested Responsibly. We understand the importance of healthy forests. That's why we only buy from suppliers who practice responsible harvesting and carefully manage their cutting with replanting strategies in place. For us, it's not just about being responsible citizens. It's about being a responsible business too.

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

Beautiful Wood, but not totally perfect

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2-1/4" Select Birch:

Our livingroom looks great. Buy a pneumatic nailer. Softer wood.
We did have an issue with tying into our diningroom floor which is the same exact product, but four years old. The tongue was milled in a different location as was the wood - Canada vs. US. So the height differential would have been a trip hazard. After several hours 4+/prototypes, my husband was able to make this transition piece. Not a pleasant surprise. Also be aware there will be some boards that are not useable.

THE COLOR IS PERFECT FOR ME, TIME WILL TELL IF IT HOLDS UP IT IS IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA, THERE APPEARED TO BE A DRIP LINE AT THE END OF SHORT PIECES WHICH CREATES A LIP--TRIED TO USE THEM IN THE NON TRAFFIC PLACES.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2-1/4" Select Birch:

This floor has beautiful color variations. Installation is easy, however the edges can be damaged during installation because birch is a soft wood. We have also noticed floor dings happen very easily so no shoes in the house.

We really love the look of this flooring.

An impressive contemporary look. However, samples do not reflect the variations of the real wood color. Also, beware that birch is surprizingly soft.

I have a concrete floor I'd like to put this product on. It states nail as the type. Do I need a plywood or other subfloor installed first to nail to?
Asked on 7/27/2010 by matt from Phoenix Az

            1 answer

            • Staff Reviewer

              A:

You can use a floating plywood subfloor system:
Concrete should be clean and level up to 1/8” over 6’. Apply a 6mil mil poly sheeting over the concrete overlapping the seams 6 inches and tape with duct tape. Install a layer of 3/8” plywood over the poly sheeting. Next install a second layer of 3/8” plywood at a 45 degree angle to the first layer. Screw the top layer of plywood to the bottom layer. Be sure not to penetrate the poly sheeting with the screws. Allow for a ½” expansion space between the plywood and any walls. Last install 15lb black roofing paper over the plywood and install the flooring over the roofing paper.
