Virginia Mill Works Co.- 3/4" x 4-3/4" Golden Acacia Prefinished Distressed Solid Flooring- 50 Year Warranty

Reminiscent of the charming, handcrafted floors found in Colonial American homes, Virginia Mill Works hardwood flooring uniquely combines the look of old-world craftsmanship with modern design and prefinishing. Each floor is a work of art, adding stylish character to any room in your home.

About Distressed Flooring:
Distressed hardwood floors have a natural worn appearance. They look like floors from the days when floors were finished by hand.
Please note this product is a nominal 3/4" thick, but due to its scraping process the thickness may be as thin as 5/8" in the scraped areas.

About Golden Acacia:
Golden Acacia is an outstanding flooring choice for any home owner!
The coloring of this strong wood adds inviting warmth to any space. The understated elegance of Golden Acacia's creamy golden sapwood and unique dark-streaked heartwood is breathtaking.
Over time this flooring will deepen in color usually settling into a warm golden tan that maintains its cozy appearance.

Don't forget the molding and stair treads!

Have had this now for seven months. Will agree with others, this scratches very easily. Had this floor in my last house, different brand and it looked better after seven years than this does after 7 months. Finish is not durable at all.

Comments about Virginia Mill Works 3/4" x 4-3/4" Golden Teak Handscraped:

Finally reviewing a floor I replaced over 18mos ago in a house I don't even own anymore! We had a dishwasher mis-hap in our kitchen ruining our previous floor. Could not match it so we used insurance money to replace with this similar (but superior) product. Turned out better than I thought it would have. Easy to work with. As with everything it was 90% preparation. Once you set the first couple rows everything should work out. I had a couple boards that were rejected by me, but all in all the complete lot was acceptable. I just cut the bad parts out and used the smaller pieces in closets and pantry...

We are now in the process of designing our next hose while we live in a rental. I just started the research process of putting hardwood flooring on concrete and it brought me back to LL. I will strongly consider using them again for our next house.

Would recommend this particular floor to anyone. I'm an above average "do it yourselfer" and would have no problem recommending this project (on a smaller scale) to someone looking to save some money on installation. My project was over 1200sqft and pushed my limits a bit. :)

Comments about Virginia Mill Works 3/4" x 4-3/4" Golden Teak Handscraped:

The floor looks fantastic. We had our entire first floor (1,100 Sq Ft) redone with it. It has a such a variety of shades of brown that it goes with all of the other wood. The hand scraping really brings a classy and warm look. We had it professionally installed and love it. So far the finish is great and our dog and kids haven't scratched it after one month. My only challenge was the price of the floor registers. The LL flush registers were the only ones I could find to match the color and they are very expensive at $55-$57 each.

        Service and delivery comments:

The Kenosha WI and the Bollingbrook IL stores both provided great service. LL honored their price match guarantee without issue.

Comments about Virginia Mill Works 3/4" x 4-3/4" Golden Teak Handscraped:

Overall, the material looks very nice put in. Several pieces are very splotchy like someone left a rag with stain on it while finishing. Milling was a bit inconsistent where the tongues and groves didn't always line up causing lippage. Some warping in material causing small gaps. Material is very hard but the finish is very brittle. It chips somewhat easily and once chipped, it just keeps coming off.

This is the second time I have installed this product. I picked it the second time because it looks so beautiful on my first floor and is very durable. I found that a shoulder plane is very useful for installation. There are some minor variations in the width of the pieces that can be corrected easily with a shoulder plan.

What type of wood is acacia?

                1 answer

                • Staff Reviewer

                  A:

Acacia (genus Acacia), genus of about 160 species of trees and shrubs in the pea family (Fabaceae). Acacias are native to tropical and subtropical regions of the world, particularly Australia (where they are called wattles) and Africa, where they are well-known landmarks on the veld and savanna.

What is the level of scratch-resistant finish?
Asked on 10/3/2016 by Handy Dandy from Gahanna, Ohio

                  A:

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage any wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
I would recommend visiting your local Lumber Liquidators to look at the actual sample (take home samples are free) or order a sample to make sure this is the right product for you.

I see on all these reviews that most of the Golden Teak hand scraped Acacia everyone is complaining about "short boards". Is this a LL defect, or a general trait to this wood species to have shorter boards? I have order 800 square feet, and am very nervous.. Would love someones input on this issue. Would also love to see some other pictures of people hand scraped acacia installs. All pictures online look so red, but not so much in person. PLEASE SEND ME PICTURES AND ADVICE :)

                • Staff Reviewer

                  A:

This is not a defect. The tree is very small and that’s why the boards do not exceed 4’ in length. But because of that the customer gains the advantage to glue a ¾” product to an on grade or above concrete slab. We recommend going to your local lumber liquidators store and they can provide free samples of this product. Thank you for your inquiry
