BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3" Natural Hickory Prefinished Solid Hardwood Flooring

What makes Bellawood so Unique? We carefully hand select each species from regions across the globe that are known to produce denser woods and that exemplify the species' finest qualities. That's why we say, "It's more than hardwood. It's Bellawood."

Hickory is distinguished by its amazing color variation, superb graining and outstanding durability. Being the hardest of all North American woods, it?s perfect for those who want beauty and durability in high-traffic areas. Its colors run the gamut, from light tans to deep browns with reddish tones interlaced. And its stunning knurled grain is just as appropriate in a modern city loft as a rustic country cabin.
This product is proudly finished in the USA.

About "Natural Grade" Flooring:
Natural Grade flooring has some color variation, mineral coloring and small knots. It can also be referred to as #2  or Third Grade. Natural grade flooring will have a slightly longer average plank length compared to Rustic grade products.

It Taber Tested "the Best." When subjected to the industry sandpaper abrasion test, known as Taber Testing, Bellawood's durability results were more than double most comparably priced floors. There's good, there's better?and then there's Bellawood.

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3" Natural Hickory:

Our floors are absolutely beautiful! We were worried that the "marbling" would not be the best since we were getting it from a discount flooring place and were hoping there would be a lot of variation....the marbling is better than we dreamed of. The floors were very easy to install and I would highly recommend them. Love these floors and the salesman at Lumber Liquidators were so very helpful and full of information.

We spent big bucks on our cupboards, but the first thing everyone notices and comments on is the floor.

We have noted that several boards at ends have split, not sure what the reason may be?

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3" Natural Hickory:

We love our floor. I would put it through out the house if we didn't already have wood floors. It is gorgeous and tough! Our contractor was amazed with the ease of installation and how tough the finish is. He did have to replace some of the flooring when the cabinet installer dropped the wall oven cabinet and gouged the floor. Accidents do happen and we did have plenty of leftover flooring due to the small amount of wastage. Very happy with the outcome and would encourage anyone who is searching for a durable and beautiful floor to purchase this product.

The 3/4 was easy to install. Had to open all the boxes to sort the colors, markings, sizes but it could be that I am just fussy. Went together well. It was hard to nail the boards close to walls--had to hand nail those, but other than that--pretty easy to install.

This a natural product and will not be perfect.
Wood varies in dimensions with moisture content and will have to be acclimated to the local job site,
“Prefinished flooring will vary in width by up to 1⁄16” or 1% coming out of the box; this is not a defect!” Wide planks will show larger gaps.

                                A:

All natural wood products can scratch or dent. A good finish can help but even a premium finish like this may. While our finishes are some of the best in the business they will scratch as will any. If all precautions are taken ie, "Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often." then there isn't a problem, however when you factor in pets, shoes with debris in treads, etc., no finish will completely withstand certain stresses.

I have 3 dogs, two of them large, and a Bellawood Hickory floor and it has held up great to 5 years of hard playing. Nothing is scratch proof and there are nail marks (slight dents) but the finish does not scratch off but rather keeps wood sealed. Harder floors like hickory (41% harder than Red Oak) or exotic floors will dent less easily and light colors hide scratches easier than dark because of contrast. I don't care about keeping the flooring flawless because I understand the limitations of wood flooring. We keep the dog nails trimmed which is very helpful, if I wanted to keep the flooring flawless I would have vinyl dog booties and only socks and sneakers on the flooring. However, real life doesn't isn't always that careful so I simply relax, keep it swept, and clean with Bellawood Cleaner once a month and I could not be happier with my floor. Light colors will hide potential scratches. Remember nothing is scratch proof but some do better than others. Our Bellawood floors are factory pre-finished with a solvent-free aluminum oxide-based finish. During the multi-step application process, each coat is cured using Ultraviolet (UV) light. Bellawood pre-finished flooring offers superior wear resistance and is backed by a limited 100-year warranty.

The formula for the Bellawood finish is a custom mix that has a 50/50 gloss. The sheen you get is shinier than satin, but not as shiny as semi -gloss.
Our Bellawood floors are factory pre-finished with an aluminum oxide water-base urethane using a multi-step application process. (8) coats are applied to most domestic and exotic wood species and each coat is hard-cured using Ultraviolet (UV) light. Bellawood pre-finished flooring offers superior wear resistance and is backed by a limited 100-year warranty! (The exact formula is propietary information)
The average dry film thickness for Bellawood is about 3.65 mils – one of the highest in the industry.
Maintaining the appearance of any wood floor requires close attention to in-door climate controls during seasonal changes.

An Elastilon-backed wood floor is much faster to install than traditional nail or glue-down methods.
Elastilon Strong can be installed on new concrete floors, handling up to 3.9% moisture content. A vapour barrier of at least 6 mil PE should be used below grade and on newly poured concrete above grade where the moisture content is above 3.9%.
Laid down with a 5/8” (15 mm) expansion gap, Elastilon Strong creates a dynamic, floating floor that expands or contracts naturally with the hardwood.

As with many hardwoods Hickory can split if the proper installation tools are not used.
                                Fortunately we do address these specific concerns in our installation instructions in detail;
                                [EXOTIC WOOD NAILING TIPS]:
Tongue fracture and surface dimpling during installation is common and can be minimized by (1) Installing the flooring in proper lighting (2) using the correct nail thickness, (3) using the recommended shoe adaptor, or (4) changing the angle of nail entry.
To further reduce the occurrence of surface dimpling and tongue fracture the use of flooring nailers with a thinner 18-20 gage cleat nail may be needed for the harder exotics species. In addition, many installers will sometimes temporarily adjust the nailer angle by applying layers of duct tape to the bottom foot plate of the nailer. The use of an over-size base or foot plate to distribute the nailing force is encouraged. If however, surface dimpling or tongue fracture occurs when nailing the denser species, drilling pilot holes and hand nailing may be required.
Use caution when fastening the harder exotics with Staplers. The drive bar in Staplers are wider and if fasteners are overdriven can act like a wood chisel, splitting tongues. Do not mix fasteners when nailing. Staples and cleats hold differently when mixed can result in irregular seasonal gapping and or movement. When face or top nailing, pick areas of the grain or pattern that would best hide touch-up fillers.
If nailers prove difficult fastening the lower profile 3/8”or 5/16” floors, many installers will use 100% urethane wood floor adhesives rather than nailers, especially with the more brittle species like; Australian Cypress, Brazilian Walnut, Teaks. Do not use significantly bowed, crooked or twisted boards. Use a wood spline or slip tongue whenever a change of board direction
is needed, wood splines should be both glued and nailed into place. Forcing or pounding floor boards together with a rubber mallet during assembly may burse or damage unprotected board edges.

How would this product work on slab-on-grade? Our century old 3-story rowhouse has a street elevation lower level. I’m planning on floating floors once the slab is leveled. We don’t have any moisture issues, but I would still use some type of barrier. I prefer not to have a plywood subfloor.
