Attached are before pictures of our master bedroom before we laid rustic maple 4-1/4" down and pictures after it was laid. We obviously changed the wall color as well but the floors really made the difference. Christina C. |

Comments about Builder's Pride 3/4" X 4-1/4" Select Maple Flooring:
We went with the lowest price, and that's what we got - a cheap floor. I really wish someone had talked us out of installing this product in our kitchen. Definitely lightens the room because it is light in color although I wonder if that is why every scratch and dent also shows so much. Scratches very easily - already purchased an area rug for eat-in area of kitchen and also feel that we need to get an area rug for our dining room to cover/protect this fragile floor. [...] If you're spending the money for hardwood floors, take our advice - spend a little more for better quality.

Comments about Builder's Pride 3/4" X 4-1/4" Select Maple Flooring:
The flooring looks beautiful. We have it installed in our kitchen, foyer and dining room. The only downfall is that it scrataches and dents very easily. Not sure if given the choice again I would install in the kitchen, especially with having 3 small children.

Comments about Builder's Pride 3/4" X 4-1/4" Select Maple Flooring:
Beautiful finish, consistent quality, and is wearing very well! I installed about 800 SF of this floor in my new construction house. Went down beautifully and looks amazing! The planks were consistent in height and cut, very little warping, and installed easily. My floor is the natural maple finish, and it's fantastic. I definitely recommend!

Comments about Builder's Pride 3/4" X 4-1/4" Select Maple Flooring:
Even at LL's regular price I don't think any other stores can touch the price. When on sale there's no choice to make...buy it. The lightness of maple (esp. select quality) will give you a very contemporary look so take that into consideration. But if that's what you are looking for then this is what to buy. Solid hardwood is timeless, just be aware that maple is softer than most other choices, and supposed to be more susceptible to humidity. I will put rugs over the areas that will receive the most traffic, and keep an eye on the humidity.
There was very little waste in the 26 boxes I received. My only warning is some of the widths were 1/16" wider and some thinner than 4 1/4". By taking the extra step of measuring each board's width you can save them for their own row. Otherwise you will end up with gaps, esp. if you place a thin board next to a wide one.
Another note, which may be common with all hardwood, is that the grooves that run the long side vs. the short differ slightly. I used perpendicular transitions and at one point I have a squeak because of the looseness. Later I started using a router and strips you can buy separately (cheaply) to make new grooves and tongues so that there was no play at the other transitions.
All-in-all this investment in my house is the largest home improvement and most noticeable I could have made; and incredibly for about a third of what I paid for my maple cabinets earlier.

Q:
Is it acceptable to use extra finish over the hardwood floor once it is installed to add to durability?1 answer
A:
You could reseal prefinished flooring after it is installed, but this would void the finish warranty on the flooring and create extra expense for you after already buying a new floor with a 20, 30, or 50yr finish warranty. Adding a new finish won’t prevent all moisture from going into the seams. Wood will expand and contract with climate changes. If the flooring were to contract later and create seasonal gapping, a spill can cause water to get into the gaps. It is best to only add a new finish when the old finish starts to wear more than you like or if you have a lot of scratches you want covered up. We recommend that you use a professional sand and finish expert if you did decide to add a new finish to the flooring. Thank you for your inquiry.Q:
